Spoke to a dealer who said that Drew was prompted what to say by TV director on his other antiques show and that they would make up the full price after filming the 'bargain' they made with him on camera. Sounds like many of the deals negotiated on these sort of shows are fake.
I used to own that car and I remember taking the head off the engine at least twice and decoking it. I also remember, about 1975, taking it up from the London area to the Lake District, with some school friends, and having thirteen breakdowns on the way, until I pinpointed the ignition fault to a loose rivet on the coil. I also remember the starting handle slipped once and punctured the bottom of the radiator with one of its lugs. As there was no temp. gauge on it, the first I knew about losing the coolant was when the head gasket blew. That was one of the occasions that I had the head off. I soldered the hole up in the radiator bottom rail and it went on for years after that. I wonder if its still got that radiator with the solder on the base?
My ganddad bought his morrie brand new he whent from a ford V8 to a morrie , awsome, he paid 700£ in new zealand and had to wait 6 mounths for delivery, people in Amberly nort canterbury used to set their watches when they saw grandddad driving home from tne boweling club for lunch, great little car and he loved it so much , the family hhas many stories and home movies of nanna who never learnt to drive and granddad in this car, my father was also the youngest person to get a drivers licence (12yrs)in N Z in this car, story for another time, the car is still around and on its original registration driving the streets of christchurch.
A friend bought one of these as his first car back in 1973. It was a 1958 model with I think an 850 cc engine. We had a great time fixing it up and driving it around. It was not in anywhere as good of shape as yours. He paid $10 for his.
Yeah single lane roads tend to have a much more pleasant relaxing appeal to them especially out of rush hour, many run parallel to motorways, even though the journey takes longer often you arrive more relaxed.

Yep, marina disc used to be the easiest conversion but probably quite hard to find now. Even a 1275 head on the 1100 lump with su carb mini inlet manifold and midget diff will make a significant difference. I did this to my wife’s 1959 saloon when the original 950 gave up.
The ''we have to keep it original'' man adds a stupid looking fake wicker paint job, wider wheels, aftermarket steering wheel and lowered the front suspension (which looked wrong) and yet if Paul had suggested those mods drew would have thrown a wobbler.....
I wouldn't touch it, other than to fix any obvious issues. It's perfect the way it is. I'm sure it will be much loved and well looked after by someone who'll pay a good price for authenticity. As for dolling it up and making it appeal to a younger buyer, I don't get the reasoning of that at all. This is hardly a young person's car. To them, a Mini is cool, but a Minor is not really, is it? It's still lovely though.
They are so slow, they are almost dangerous in modern traffic. If you make them go faster , then they don't handle. or Stop. Leave the Moggies in the museums where they belong.

I know it breaks with tradition, but I fitted my Morris Minor with a 1275cc MG Midget engine with electronic ignition, mating it to a Ford Type Nine 5 speed gearbox with an over the counter adaptor kit. I junked the oil boxes and fitted a set of telescopic shock absorbers, along with a Rover SD1 v8 brake servo, a front brake disc conversion, Vauxhall Firenza Rostyle wheels and 70 profile tyres, a sporty sized leather-bound Mountney steering wheel and a pair of Corbeau racing seats. It cruises comfortably and effortlessly at motorway speeds - I had it clocked at 113 mph at Donington on the straight. The thing is, it's all bolted on, so I could quite easily reverse it back to stock, but I'm not going to, since it's quick enough to reliably keep up with modern traffic, having driven over 40,000 miles trouble free. All those bits I've mentioned were cheap and fairly easy to source, and its fun!!! ... 🤗 ...
Is that speedo original? It's obviously a Smiths instrument as was used, but I've only ever seen the ones with the ivory coloured faces fitted in Minors, not the black faced one seen here.

Just bought a 1960 Traveller. Lots of issues to contend with on them but you never stop smiling when driving them. 948cc power all the way!!!
I love the 4 door and the Traveller best but any Moggie is a favorite of mine .
