      It's a similar thing with the Galleon's Graveyard. Once you move into each particular area, they become visible.

      Yeah what I'd love is a mode where all demon factions start in their respective chaos realms and the gates open at like turn 100 or something, chaos flooding into the mortal world.

    I hope the next step is to flesh out the map with more things to see. It feels empty and a bit boring to look at. That there is now a city around the black pyramid gives me hope for that.

    Chaos Robie carrying the entire Warhammer 3 community on it's shoulders like the gigachad that they truly are!
    If Chaos Robie doesn't move on to different projects, it would be amazing to see new maps (maybe not as big, for the sake of his mental sanity) and campaigns from him, adding new elaborate spins and strategic elements.

    Things to help:
    -too many factions (turns take too long)
    -long loadimg times when exiting battles
    -frequent crashed on hangups
    Else than that, what a map!

      Map is too big. What the point of having 1000 km between cities? it's a warhammer game, not a real conquest simulation game.

      @@lanceconte2231Lots of the mod seems to be trying to reach “true scale” or at least close to it, and the maps in TW games are usually pretty downscaled.
      I do understand the frustration though, it does look kinda annoying

    I really think CA should make an old world campaign themselves.
    Or come up with more campaigns in general for that matter.
    If they are sandboxy enough they might create much added value.

      Nope, they already have too much on their plate with little time left in the game's lifecycle to be worrying about offshoot maps.
      Frankly even I find this submod unnecessary outside of experiment purposes as there's no point in having such a large scale map if you just have large blank areas you can't add anything to without destroying your performance.

      Sure, if CA wants to pull the plug they will do it. But there is no reasonable argument for doing it, just because some hypothetical "cycle" is ending.
      You can support a game for 10 years with DLC if it sells.

      @@zacharyjackson1829 If you want to downsize so much and handle fewer games, then you shouldn't ditch the ones that pay the bills in favour of those with an unsure return of investment in the first place. A smaller team means you should focus MORE on reliable products. Not less.
      And by the way, you don't need a billion people to support a Total War game.
      SFO overhauled basically every single faction better than CAs recent joke of a Dwarf "rework". And they didn't need 50 full-time employees either.

    My mind is SWIMMING with ideas seeing this. What if there was a map mod that added the chaos realms to the IE map, where the chaos daemon LLs all start, and spend most of their time fighting each other in the “great game”, and spill out into the material world through portals that appear as part of an event or something…

    Having the Warhammer Fantasy world correctly scaled and shaped or at least pretty close would be awesome, if this mod achieves it "Hats up!".
    The biggest issue in IE in Warhammer 3 is actually how horrible wrongly shaped and scaled and condensed it is. Look at Ulthuan for example, according to the lore a fast HE ship takes several weeks to reach the shores of Estalia, which is closest to it. The trading route to Altdorf actually takes a few months, with necessary supply stops in Bretonia. Even a Dawi air ship (the ones bigger than a Thunder Barke) would take over a month to get there starting from Altdorf. Naggaroth and Lustria is a bit closer, but also at least ca. 2 weeks passage away. Aside from the fact that the Elves have many early warning systems, the water around Ulthuan are tricky and dangerous, filled with sea beasts etc. alone this distance is their biggest protection, Ulthuan is hard to reach, unlike in the game where it takes one round, may even less from Bretonia and Naggaroth. This is creating this imbalance how easy it is for everyone to get and overun it, not that defending it is any easier. Same with Chaos Wastes being in literal spitting range to Norsca and other places, while according to the lore it is a long (above week, may way more) and hard passage, even in an air ship, to travel these distances.

    This is looking incredible! It looks a bit bare at the moment, but I imagine that'll change with time. Some more trees and what not to breath a bit of life into the visuals of the map. Really looking forward to trying this out!

    My only issue playing through so far has been the bloat of the load times. That and Khorne factions are kinda screwed by the huge distances between settlements. Otherwise I love the changes and I can't wait for the completed project, I loved the first edition of Old World. Once Old World and SFO are updated I'm doing the definitive Empire campaign.
    Edit after playing for a bit: Honestly, I preferred 2.0. This map is just way too big. You will spend a lot of time staring at really long end turn timers (450+ factions) while your armies slowly creep across massive empty spaces. I think 2.0 was the optimal size for this kinda thing. 3.0 just feels like big for the sake of big.

    I was expecting to try this mod to have a more centralized (idk if that's the right word) campaign and focused on the actual old world but not really, it had way more fuckton of factions which hogs loading and turn times. I really wanted to to like it but I don't have that much time to wait for a single siege or battle.

    Holy fucking shit I did not know someone was making a mod for the old world and actually putting the Realms of chaos but instead of being like dungeons which I'm fine for if that was the case they're actual places you can conquer make sense for the demons doesn't make sense for mortals still this is fucking cool hopefully by the time does mode is done It looks great play great and doesn't have many game-breaking bugs from Exploit to bugs on my crasher game

    Yes this is huge! and having the chaos realms into the playable maps is what everyone want. However I will have the same complain as with the Old World map. It's way too flat, to large, so looks really poor. In an historical and real setting, why not, but to have nothing for a thousands kilometers around is not Warhammer friendly. We need stuff, we need monuments, landmarks, incredible landscape across the map.

    Author of this mod said, that map can`t be further increased due to map limitations in the game engine. So now we need modders to break through this limitations.

      That's not really something you can do with modding tools, hence the term "engine limitation" ... if you want to get past that, you need to start from the ground up and redesign the tools themselves that the modders use, the whole engine needs to be re-written, which is very very time-consuming and costly, which is why it's usually just big corporations pushing out new design engines like Unity, Unreal, Frostbite, etc and the indie market / modding community uses those tools rather than wasting the time and energy of a single person trying to code their own engine from scratch

    I'm not sure if I like idea of being able to invade AND HOLD the Chaos realm settlements as a mortal army. Say what you will about the Realm of Chaos, but at least they follow the lore loosely in that mortals only visit them before getting the hell out.

      I mean technically it could be implemented by making those places super hostile and impossible to sustain. Like impossible levels of corruption, limit settlements to only remain as ruins and so on.

    I think that moving all of the chaos factions into their own realm would be absolutely amazing. And there were certain entry points where chaos would flow into the normal world, and all of them would have the ability if they spent their currency to make random portals pop-up into the human world. So they can lead an invasion. And I know some people, including me like to see the A. I use stuff that we do, so if you pay your special currency to use the ability to make the portals pop up, other chaos factions would also be able to spawn there. Or maybe it's spawns an AI army of your chaos race, so it kind of like makes a new faction That's a vassal to you so they can kind of secure the area, so you can send your army through safely.

    Cut some of the dark lands away and make it closed off "underway" map with Dawi/Greenskin/Skaven cities. Some of the Big settlements would have teleport behind them (so that the area influence of the city reaches it, making it a chokepoint) to the surface around the world. Now THAT would be proper underway system. Relatively smaller travel distance across the map but needing to keep it secure from the warpstone-fest that is the underway.

    Personally I'm hoping for the general aesthetics to get fleshed out a bit - a little grove here, a detailed mountain ridge there, etc. That sort of thing is extremely important for an immersive experience in my mind. I absolutely love what this mod is doing, but it's not quite where I'd personally need it to be to enjoy it. Parts of it are, but there's still a lot of empty steppe without any ornamentation in there as well.

    I love the idea and even the current state is incredibly impressive but I feel like I am spoiled by original CA Campaign Map Design, this looks so barren and boring in many parts it really pulled me out while playing, hopefully in a few years that won't happen anymore

    Am I the only one who understands how the Tzeentch realm works in realms of chaos? The teleporters are not random. If you fight the battles and collect the clues it shouldn’t take you more than five or six turns to get out of there.
    Are people actually just randomly guessing which portal goes where?

      Yeah they were. It's a warhammer game. People don't like to think too hard, hence the simplified economics in this game compared to other total wars too

    If that is the final "map" then all it needs once its out is a lot of "decorative" work. As it's very barren. Not just the new areas, the old and current ones also could need a loving touch after the map is "complete"

    Man i love this idea. Hope CA can focus on immortal empire and making it more bigger map. Because everytime i play a new game. Too many faction already annihilate on early game. Which end up not many races left to wage war on. TBH personally i felt not fun because always end up same faction like dark elf remain on top to fight with.

    This is what CA need to add to IE: playable RoC on the campaign map. I was hoping they did it first, but the modders are definitely carrying this game, as ever.

    Great additions, this mod has kept me playing the game. but is it only me who thinks the realms of chaos look a lil goofy in the corners of the map? i would prefer it if they were not on the map or at least were all in the north.

      @@sydalg95 I and a few other people have echoed this criticism. I think Old World 2.0 was a good balance between enhanced scope while still maintaining playability. The end turn timers chug if you don't have a top of the line computer. I was timing 3 minute end turn timers. That adds up real fast over the course of a few hour play session.
