Fun fact: Trey Parker, one of the creators of the show, speaks fluent Japanese. That's probably why they do so many anime spoofs
Didn't know until they sung it at the concert
the fact that the nonsense japanese is intentional and a "bilingual bonus" is awesome
@@coolkidcoyoteG3 sing sang sung yeaah irregulars! Sung like kim il sung S/o dprk
Treys The one that sings all the Japanese songs in the show, and does all the Japanese dialogue.
If I don't mistake it's because his wife is from Japan.
This episode perfectly captures what it was like to play as a kid. One time when I was little, my friends and I were pretending to be Pokémon, and one of my friends did a Hitmonlee hi-jump-kick off of a trampoline that ended up knocking out 2 of my baby teeth. My friends acted like the group in this episode, they thought they would be in sooooo much trouble 😂
When i was a kid were were play fighting and i lightly slapped another kid on the back. He was a little shit and tattled to my mom that hit him as hard is I could. I got my ass beat.
Which Pokémon were you? Whenever me and my cousins went swimming, we'd pretend to be Pokémon too I was always a Vaporeon
@@sarahfields288 I was either hitmonchan or heracross. We quickly learned that it’s easier to punch lightly than to kick lightly lol
for me, it was when we were throwing rocks at a wall in an apartment parking lot, the rock i threw ended up smashing a car window. no one saw us but just us three friends but the next day, we got called in the principal's office to apologize to the car owner. dunno how it got traced back to us but man, i was sweating bullets.
We should do things like that more often. Like Cartman, I used to be that one kid who wanted my character to have all the powers. And they also told me I should have one power.
I am probably one of the handful of Japanese that watches south park and when I watched this episode, I couldn't stop laughing so hard. They perfectly encapsulated the spirit of anime in a form of a parody.
How did you like the "Tweek × Craig" episode?
Dash, your understanding of Japanese added so much more to this episode AND your reaction. I don't know why I've never thought to look up a translation, I assumed it would be something funny or gross, but knowing Matt and Trey and their "durka durka" lines from Team America: World Police, I would just as easily have assumed it was gibberish.
Thank you so much! :D
I’m glad to hear that. I had no idea they were using actual Japanese in their episodes. But those are some of my favorites so far! Now I need to look up what they were saying in Team America. Thanks for watching!!!
@@dash.reacts oh they weren't saying anything in Team America, don't waste your time, lol. What I meant was, given how they were so obviously not getting the language right in that film, to my untrained ear they could have been doing the same thing here, so to know the Japanese is real just gives so much more to the episode :-)
By coincidence, "durka" is a Russian slur which means "mental hospital"
Thank you for translating that song, I love it even more now. So hilarious 😂
Thanks for watching, Ben!
That was great, amazing that they actually tried to make jokes.
Trey Parker is actually fluent in Japanese - studied in college and his first wife was Japanese. So the song is purposefully made to be stupid, to highlight that American Anime lovers have no idea what they're listening to, while also making fun of terrible translations (i.e. let's fighting love).
When you say “I’m bad, let’s fighting!” I think their trying to say “I am a badass, so let’s fighting!” Is there’s no Japanese equivalent to “badass?”
Yeah so much better
As a Japanese person who loves South Park, I really enjoyed your reaction and was amazed by your Japanese skill!
You even understood what “ 珍棒 “ means lol
What does it mean?
@@GeekSquad24B It's the "rare stick" translation moment, where Dash said it could be another penis joke...
They sang an extended version of Let's Fighting Love that the 25th anniversary concert at Red Rocks. The whole show is on youtube and it's beautiful
Tremendous translation of that song! Not everybody could do that! :-!
Oh my god when Butters got hit in the eye and started screaming and crying i nearly strated crying too, if it was literally anyone else i would be like whatever but Butters, damn that sweet kid gets destroyed 😖😰
Right?!? They do Butters dirty 😅🫢
I hate Butters with everything in my being. The part where the dogs were pissing and defecating on him almost got me off big time. I didn't get off though but I'm close.
@@dash.reacts Like when Cartman "died" and he had "therapy" with a giant butt plug blender.
@@dash.reacts poor child. He didn't deserve this. Cartman Is such a asshole.
I felt bad for butters too😢
The tattoo on cartmans arm fits his character....he really likes food.
Trey Parker is the one singing and the one who wrote the lyrics. He actually knows some Japanese.
(I edited, Trey Parker, not Matt Stone)
Move along, sir.
The 25th anniversary concert… nothing better than hundreds of people singing ‘protect my balls’ at the top of their lungs,
Echoing off the canyon walls, into the warm Colorado summer evening.
Trey's fluent, he married a japanese woman and studied the language in college. Needless to say, he enjoys flexing his knowledge of japanese in south park whenever he gets the chance.
I've seen the entire Southpark multiple times, but never knew the meaning of that song. Thank you for unlocking the 4th dimension for me. I couldn't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣
And my favorite Japanese anime of all time is Dragon Ball Z
My favorite anime is Rurouni Kenshin. I’m learning Japanese and when I went back to rewatch this episode I was dying laughing. The lyrics are insane. Also when Craig named his sword testicles I was done! Great reaction.
Rurouni Kenshin is definitely amazing! The movies Samurai X Trust and Betrayal from that series are two of my absolute favorites.
@@seanahern9511 Trust and Betrayal is amazing.
I'm not anime enjoyer at all, but Rurouni Kenshin is great for sure.
Planetes
The invisible cartman scene is one of my alltime favourites. And I laugh tears everytime when he sneaks naked into the scene😂😂You can say what you want about him, but his level of dedication is always at max (in all directions)
I think Trey Parker is fluent in Japanese, so he made sure that whenever Japanese is spoken or written on the show it's accurate.
How Butters had an eye after that is beyond me😂
it’s probably a glass eye
The funny and ironic thing in this episode was what Kyle said when made the observation that parents don’t care about violence if sex is around. Sad but true
I mean it is Cartman, dude loves good food, so “Flavor” actually kinda makes sense.
IKR
It's a great thing you've got a perspective on the language in the episode that others might not be able to give.
Massive game changer tbh. Reacting to this episode could be fun with most people but having an extra layer like that can really make a difference.
Holy crap thanks for your Japanese translation. This show is so damn dark. It's my top form of comedy. The provocative kind that skewers modern society. I think SP is the GOAT, of comedy cartoons at least
I really love this episode because that stuff happens in real life. And there was a point in time where somehow a real ninja shuriken's with calligraphy markings ended up in hands of kids and they were out playing with them. Tough times growing up in the '80s and '90s 🤣. Yet parents were more concerned about indecent exposure on national tv
Growing up in the 80's I definitely had my share of Ninja stars and butterfly knives. I remember using the garage door for target practice and having to fill all the holes with woodfiller then sand and repaint the garage door as punishment. Good times!
i love how cartmen straight up took the blame and panned the issue and all it took was him flashing. loved the react video thanks for translating the song 😄
The reaction by the parents at the end, is so perfect and accurate!
I never knew what the Japanese lyrics meant 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely classic episode
A classic episode, I remember when they released a 10th anniversary collection of their favorite episodes it was one of the ones on it. They mentioned that they love the episodes where you get to see them just kinda being kids with their imaginations, which is why this one and the Lord of the Rings one were in that collection. They also just did a 25th anniversary concert which featured a live version of Lets Fighting Love.
It also explains the Video Games.
Dash said:
"Imma get those killer sais!" 🤣
EDIT: I loved this episode growing up, and the fact that theres Japanese wiener jokes throughout makes it so much funnier😂
😂 😂 😂
I saw this episode air for the first time. When the animation goes back to normal and Butters starts wailing with the star in his eye, I laughed so hard I woke the whole house up.
i love the way Trey pronounces baawls during the song 😂
When I was 5yo I was Superman and been thrown in a wooden building by Doomsday.
Reality : my friend kicked me while we were fighting in a wood trailer and got serious pieces of wood injected in my arms.
At 9yo I was Goku who got kicked in a glass building.
Reality : I fell on a glass table after my friend pushed me...
At 11yo I was Matt Hoffman and...damn you don't wanna know the reality 😅
At 7 my brother and I were playing Ghostbusters, I was slimer. The broom was the neutrona wand, you do the math
@@bemasaberwyn55 and today....kids are scotched to a tablet...😔
Mad world...
Another amazing episode is "season 8 episode 3 the passion of the jew" one of my favorite episodes ever. It has the best celebrity cameo in Mel Gibson and it's gut busting hilarious how they portray him 🤣 😂 😆
I love ur reactions. I love that you don’t over react. Just straight up cuss for no reason, or add like 10-20 minutes of explanation. In addition you actually give a live reaction instead of a rehearsed one. U give an honest reaction.
Its not too much or too little. You also notice small details and references to other movies. Your the best reactor
I love how this dude reacts to the entire episodes, and not just “funniest moments” compilations. I feel like watching those short compilations dont do South Park justice.
This episode nailed the issue with how lewdness is seen as worse than violence in murica
Professor Chaos might need to add goggles to his outfit! 😜
Or an eyepatch
Hahaha 🤣
The goggles do nothing!
@@st0n3p0ny Where is Fallout Boy?!
I believe (in cannon) it didn't damage his optic nerve and it didn't greatly injur his eyeball, that's why he "went back to normality" in later episodes.
Poor little Butters 😭
🤣The translation adds more to the humor, thank you
My son was an 80s kid and we had a ball with this one. This and "Taming Strange" are two of my favorite South Parks
I think I only just realized the major joke is how outraged Americans get at any sex related, but will brush off violence as nothing serious for kids
This was always my favourite episode I'm glad you translated it for us 😂 I don't know why I never even thought of that
This episode had some of my favorite moments in the series, but at the same time, Butter's in pain always broke my heart... 😢
7 year old playing cowboy and my buddy ran out of caps and threw his metal gun at me. Hit me in the face and I had 22 stitches from it. He kept telling me " we dont need to say anything so we dont get in trouble".
This was epic dude! Seen this episode dozens of time because it is one of the best. However, your translations were golden! Never knew before what was said :D
The scene with Kyle trying to throw away the nunchucks always makes me laugh alittle too hard especially bc I’m half Jewish and would have the exact same problem 😕
I have only recently become addicted to your incredibly charming and humorous channel. I am constantly covetous of your tee-shirts: particularly this Akira one, and a Mega Man Robot Masters thing I saw yesterday. As a British lad who grew up in the late 80s and 90s, I used to think I was “special” for knowing about stuff like that! Bravo sir, your channel is awesome. Vinny x
Your concern for butters was honestly one of the funniest parts of this whole experience.
We had a kid in high school that was stabbing peope's schoolbags for fun, basically piercing their schoolbooks. There were these two stoner twins that didn't have any books in their bag, cause they had no intention of doing homework I guess, and he stabbed one of them in the back. He didn't hit the spine or any organs and they all just bandaged him up and pretended like it never happened. To avoid the adults lol
"lets murder one of these other dogs" always get me
Season 8 was the absolute peak of this show.
So I highly doubt that this is the basis for the Cartman Tattoo, but in the game of Go, the term Aji is used to refer to a weakness that can be exploited by your opponent. So, in a sense, Cartman has a Tattoo that says 'Weakness', which honestly fits for Cartman's character as someone who will do something he thinks is cool without understanding it, and who would do something to make himself look tough when he's actually quite weak.
you adding the translations made this episode that much better. great stuff!
I'm a martial artist and an ex self-defense instructor, speaking from personal experience I would have to say the shuriken because even in hand to hand a sharp piece of metal is still dangerous... So why not the sai?... Because sai are almost exclusively made for demo not actual combat, they are made of extremely brittle mineral vs metal coated to look metal. The nunchaku look foam covered (and most are either foam and/or wiffle grade plastic vs wood or other stronger material). The prettier a tonfa looks the more delicate it is, the best tonfa look aweful because they're literally one board with a hole and another that's wedged (the weakness of a tonfa is the tiny piece of material inserted into the main block, the speaker the look the smaller the insert... the smaller the insert the weaker the insert so it breaks too quick).
The ninja fight scene when he translates kills me I never knew what was being said till now it makes it 1000X better 😂
I'm impressed and pleased you were sble to translate the Japanese lyrics; never knew if it was actually legit or not?!?
One of the greatest episodes to me and the music was so epically hilarious. The scenes where they become their anime characters are some of the best scenes of the series.
season 8 is so good you can basically watch any episode from this season and it will be a good one. id recommend e3 e4 e12 e13. and dead celebrities s13 e8
I really like how you're able to translate Japanese for us. There's some funny stuff hidden in this episode I didn't know about before.
I'm on a dash binge again, i never would have looked up the translation of the song, you should make a short of the song. South Park is getting popular with Gen z and i could definitely see that translation short going viral
Trey Parker recently sang the 'let's fighting love' at the south park live concert. The song with a slight extension where he sings a children's japanese
♪ Tan tan tanuki no kintama wa ♪
♪ Kaze ni fukurete burabura ♪
So Kintama was relevant to whatever Anime the boys were basing themselves off.
Aji is also used in Igo to refer to potential remaining in stones that can't live but have not yet been removed from the board. Fun language fact!
I never even thought about translating that hahaha I’m so glad you did that haha awesome stuff
I love how, despite being a massively powered super Villan, Butters plays fair. When he tells Stan his cloak defends against his heat attack then he proves to be susceptible to Kyle's ice attack. That's playing fair.
I remember I used to go out playing with my friends with bo staffs and clubs and an actual real medieval-style flail (heavy metal ball with spikes on it attached to a chain and a stick) that we got from a Renaissance Fair... it's amazing we didn't end up in the hospital like Butters did.
Thank you so much for translating the japanese lyrics of this song! Now I know what it's about and thankfully no one around me knows japanese and very little english! Another great reacting, man, it's awesome to pick a random video of yours of an episode I didn't know you already react, this is one of my favorite episodes from season 8!
IIRC, Trey Parker studied Japanese in college. Though I was sure he studied music. Maybe he did both. I definitely heard somewhere that he's studied Japanese
I think Cartman joins NAMBLA will still always be my favourite episode but your Japanese translations has made me appreciate this episode so much much more. Arigató! :) I'm not really into manga or anime but my favourite anime has always been Cyborg 009. The 1979-80 version. Of course, I watched it with Danish dubbing.
Yes! Finally someone reacts to this episode in South Park lol. This one was so awesome.
When my dad found out I liked anime, he showed me this episode 😂😂 It was his favorite.
0:50 Tonfa, easily. The shuriken needs range and accuracy. The nunchuks need control and quick reflex. The sai is a stabbing weapon but not great for slashing.
The tonfa can deal blunt damage from all angles, be thrown, block strikes and enemy weapons or hands can be caught and manipulated in that corner formed by the handle.
Wait if Cartman doesn't think he's fat (just big boned), and this is imagination, why is he imagining himself as a fat ninja? lol
Star Blazers. Although, it’s known as Space Battleship Yamato in Japan. I used to rush home from school to watch it every day.
My friends and I would just beat each other with those wooden weapons covered in thin layers of foam and slam each other into gym mats.
It didn’t produce injuries that got us into trouble then, but some of us will probably end up with CTE.
By far one of my favorites it truly shows the imagination of a child they did really well mixing in anime style with their usual South Park animation sounds good and I would pick the weapon's Cartman chooses
Always enjoyed how the character designs were literally taken from Street Fighter characters. Amazing episode!!!
I remember taking a couple boxes of those poppers and took them all apart and then put them into a paper towel, was like a bit bigger than a golf ball…Sounded like a gunshot😳
Great to get a translation my Japanese friend would only ever say "it's stupid lyrics"
Fav - Valley of the wind.
It's funny how Matt & Trey research and stuff and put in the episodes they know what a lot of this stuff means and it makes the episodes more funny
If you, or anyone you know, have never seen the official English dub of Ghost Stories, you owe it to the universe to experience the joy .
You know what I love about you, every time cartman does bad thing your face's frustration. It is like cartman is your son and you are the dad who has never managed his son become a decent person.
"craig is that you?" i dont know why, but i was on my floor dying
Did you watch the China vs Japan episode where Shitty Sushi opens up next door to Shitty Wok? "Oh No! Dis is uhJapanese stereotypeooh!!!" "Why don'tuh you just SPREAK ENGRISH?!"
Grave Of The Fireflies is my favorite probably. Such a gut shot of a movie.
in grade four me and my friends were outside playing by a creek during christmas, it was cold and snowy and there was a thin layer of ice covering the water in the creek and we were throwing rocks and whatever we could find, trying to break the ice. I pulled out a decent stone roughly the size of a softball or baseball and i was standing higher up on the bank... i underestimated the weight of the stone and my own power... I threw it and it was almost like slow motion as i watched it come up short WAY SHORT and clunked my friend right on top of his head. he fell to the ground and we all ran over to him, he was in shock and there was blood coming through his hat, once he noticed he freaked out and started sprinting home, we all ran alongside with him, he got to his house and his parents rushed over to him. then they got REALLY mad at me and told me to leave. i left scared to death and ran home, got to my room and watched the movie Land before time on vhs and drank a coke, then i heard my phone ring, then my mom yelled my name and i was grounded for two weeks and i wasnt invited to that friends house again. GOOD TIMES THROWING ROCKS
if you want to have something different than japanese episodes, maybe you could watch the Obama episodes? S12.e12 obamas eleven
Boom baby😂
My favorite anime series will always be Tenchi Muyo, my best high school buddy introduced it to me, then he joined the marines and I lost track of him. He enlisted in 1998 so thankfully he missed the Afghanistan and Iraq s***shows by a couple years, so I’m pretty sure he didn’t die in combat.
Though I loved the Tenchi Muyo feature films as well, if I’m picking my all time best anime film, I’m going to go really old school and say The Dagger Of Kamui, also one of my favorite works of historical fiction overall.
3:45 might be my favorite Butters quote. Idk why
In Kyle's defence, I feel that nobody could throw out something they paid 15 bucks for.
Kenny said f-ing awesome.
At the court days festival, huge 100,000+ people outdoor flea market thing in my town. I'd buy swords and blades when I was like 12.
Your Japanese Translations just made an already hilarious episode absolutely Fucking Hysterical!!! I cried and pissed myself laughing so hard!!! 🤣 Love your channel! You need to give us your Season 6 episode "Fun with Veal" reaction!
The Passion of the Jew (which cartman references) is a fantastic episode
Kinda underrated but i loved Trey’s narration of “in the last episode…” it’s so on point for all anime. They always do that 😂 and you can totally tell it’s Trey’s voice, he has a really funny voice made for comedy

This is one of my favorite episodes! And I am super impressed that you read Japanese like it was nuthin! 😍
As part Japanese I found this episode as one of my favorite South Park episodes :) thank you for reacting to these and my favorite anime is Fate. Fate Zero/Fate Unlimited Blade Works (both have 2 seasons) and the three Fate Heavens Feel movies are just amazing and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it.
