Hi Tyanna,
Sustainability analyst in-house here in the fashion industry and previously was a sustainability consultant at a big4! This video is 100% relatable! One thing maybe worth mentioning is that switching from consulting to in-house you have the opportunity to meet with suppliers and understand their view on sustainability and how it affects the companyâs decision regarding where to buy raw materials (might not be the case for all industries though).
Hi there, thatâs definitely a great point! I think whatâs interesting about that is depending on the company, the interaction and ask with suppliers will vary (raw materials vs finished good). Also noting which country theyâre in. Sometimes there can be a language barrier!
Hi Richy, so true (re: getting more hands-on interaction with suppliers)! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, Tyanna. I'm more on the consulting side these days, so it's great to get the perspective of someone working in-house in today's landscape!
Of course Rose, thanks for stopping by! âșïž
Thank you so much for the videos you put out, your knowledge is so helpful and uplifting! :)
Aww very sweet comment. Iâm glad itâs helpful for you!! đ©”

Ah needed this video! Iâm finishing up some certifications and tying up some projects for my current sustainability analyst role for a local construction company. I am looking to advance my career to the next step and will be applying to jobs soon. This is helpful information :) thanks for making this content!!! đ
ooo sounds like an exciting next step for ya! Good luck with your job search & interviews!! đđđđ»
If you donât mind can you share some of the certifications? Iâm going into this career as well and I want to make sure I have some of the needed skills.
@@yetundetaiwo4283 sure! I have tried different ones online but my favorite free platform is called Alison and it has a ton of different sustainability certifications to choose from. Great overviews of different topics!
@@yetundetaiwo4283 It depends on the type of role you want. I'd advise to look at the job requirements and work backwards from there (e.g., Sustainability Analyst role will have different preferred skills vs Sustainability Reporting role)
Thanks for sharing! This is really useful as I'm considering a career switch. Just wondering for both consultant and in house role, were you working as an individual and assigned to a project or you are part of the team for the entire project?
Hi great question! In consulting I was assigned to projects based on my skill set and in-house, itâs typically the same thing. Both always required working in a team vs just by myself!
Hi Tyanna,
This video is super helpful! I am currently pursuing my undergrad degree. Specifically a major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies, Certificate in business as well as minors in GIS and environmental management. Do you have any advice on how to get ahead in the job market or certain skills I should try to obtain?
Hi there! Iâd say to think about the job you want then work backwards from there. The skills required vary based on the role you want.
