    What are the negative effects of applying iontophoresis to areas near the carotid artery/sinuses or eyes? Thank you!

    What do you mean you get the dexamethazone from a physician, who is the script for? Does each patient need a script? But we keep the medication? very confused about that. And when you say 5-7 times, how often? 1 or 2x/ week? 2 weeks apart? Or, where can I get these answers? Love your videos, only therapist at my facility and none of these answers in any of my textbooks!

      Hi Brittney, the patient should get a prescription from their physician for the medication. I like to do it 3 times a week for 2 weeks.

    Would this work for Posterior Tibial tendonosis dysfunction (PTTD)?
    Who or what doctor specializes in this would you go to have this done?

    Some of my colleagues leave disburser pad on pt believing that dexamethasone will continue to penetrate skin over 4 hrs ( regular electrode) . Is that validated?

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal  Před rokem

      That’s a good question Lindy. I do the same thing with the premise that if people can absorb nicotine through a patch or lidocaine through a patch, there’s no reason why dexamethasone couldn’t be absorbed, if left there a little bit longer. DEX is actually one of the most absorbable medication’s in regards to anti-inflammatories.

    Other then the reasons you listed in video, why does some Drs insist on using in clinic Dupel unit delivery of Ionto Rx vs take home patch? They both have same results, correct?

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal  Před 3 lety

      It depends on the location. If it's around the foot, the take home patch doesn't stick well. The key is good contact and tolerance to the electricity

    Hello, I am currently taking this treatment for my patellar tendinitis. I have taken 5 sittings so far and I rarely see improvement. I still have pain when walking around my knee and upper knee and lower knee. Also my pain Is more on the day when I take the treatment . Is this expected? And how long it will take to see effect

    Hello, nice video. How deep the medication penetrates into tissues? is it deeper penetration than phonophoresis ?

    • @OrthoEvalPal
      @OrthoEvalPal  Před 2 lety

      Phonophoresis has never proven to be effective in absorbing medication. I have had much better luck with ionto but only with injuries that are just subcutaneous.

      Hi Jo an. I would not only because there is a very small amount of dex absorbed in the blood stream.
