I don't think 30mpg is that impressive for a Hybrid to be honest.

For 340 HP, 30 MPG is really good

Have had my 2010 Mazda 3 2.5 manual since fall 09. I have 220K miles and not one issue! It has even survived being rear ended. Only PM needed and use non-ethanol gas for majority of life! (Still has original clutch KoW!)
I’ve had Mazdas for about 20 years and done 400k miles in them. Lovely to drive and supremely reliable.
All turbo charged engines wont make the long haul. Need nature aspiration
I’m on my 3rd Mazda in a row…CX5…CX9…back in a CX5…quality built…FUN to drive and very high end interior. I’m hooked!
@@Dan16673that’s why it’s a hybrid. It’s reducing the stress of the engine.

@@lizettecorona6116I have an '05 Mazda 3 as well. 2.0L with a 5 speed. Getting close to clocking 319,000 miles!!! Still going strong.
Was never a Mazda fan until I drove a Miata. Now I have a 2020 Miata and almost 50K miles later the car hasn't needed anything besides the usual oil changes, tires, and brakes. My next one will be a CX-5 or CX-30. These are some of the most reliable and pleasurable cars to drive and they've really stepped it up with the aesthetics.
I was so impressed with my wife’s 2020 CX-9 driving dynamics, for a 3 row SUV it actually drives amazing and doesn’t make you feel dead inside, that I got myself a 2021 Mazda 6 as a daily driver and I am super happy. Every Mazda is the most fun car to drive in its class.
@3535msj wow I never drove any Mazda, but I would be happy. What's the difference bw the cx-9 and the cx 90?
Very happy with my 2023 CX-5 in the Premium trim level. Above that is Premium Plus and then the three turbo trims. $35k was the sticker price and supply of the 2023's was very constrained back in Oct. 2022 so I paid it. No heads-up display until you get to Premium Plus. No regrets or problems as I am approaching 10,000 miles.
My first Mazda was a 1988 RX-7. Worst car I owned, but fun as hell. I went from BMW back to Mazda and bought a 2019 Mazda3 hatchback AWD. Love driving the thing. It's compact, handles great, and easy to drive on these awful layout New England roads. Could use a little more power, but it's still fun since I can use all the power often without endangering myself and everyone else.
@@MrAlvarez23 CX-90 is the new completely redesigned version of the CX-9
‘It’s made in Japan, by Japanese people… that’s what you want.’
Totally agree. That’s why I bought a CX-5 three years ago.
I can just see the young men showing up on time, doing a good job, with a good attitude, proud to make a great product. That concept is eroding away in this part of the world.
And that’s why I’m buying a CX-5 and not the CX-50. The CX-50 is made in Alabama…
@@rcmantel cx-5 is made in japan?? Automatic trans?
Gee, I wonder why. Japan is still majority Japanese. I'll give you one guess as to what changed from now and when "made in USA" used to mean quality.

Reviewers have raved about CX-90 ever since it’s launch because of its beautiful styling, excellent build quality and performance that punches into the class above while undercutting the competition by well over 10k usd. It’s quite simply a phenomenal car and now it seems like it’s getting a clean bill of health from Scotty in terms of reliability. It’s quite possibly the best 3 row SUV on the market today and I’d pick one up if I was in the market for one!
It’s impossible for Scotty to give it a positive review for reliability. It’s BRAND NEW!!
@@miketerry6036 well ofc that’s true. But usually he’s right about these things. Only time will tell with stuff like this but it has an under stressed engine and an 8 speed automatic. I’m sure mechanically it seems it would be pretty reliable. At least more reliable than German rivals.
As long as the water pump isn't built into the engine next to the timing chain. The older CX9 had catastrophic failures with them.

Wife has been researching new SUVs to replace her odyssey that we couldn’t trust ever since a dealership fried some of the cameras and electronics… looked at Toyota, Honda pilot, another Toyota dealership and their grand Highlander. Didn’t like the prices nor being lowballed on our van. She watched over my shoulder watching this video must have done a little crash test ratings research and we went to just see what they were about not ever being on our radar…drove away with a mid tier 24 cx-90 pre owned with 600 miles and an additional 6 grand more in our trade then anyone else offered. Amazing driver. Love your Chanel Scotty.
We just finished winning a lemon case. There’s recall after recall and never ending stalling and hesitation issues when accelerating.

My wife has a 2019 Mazda cx5 we purchased new. Has been a great car and fun to drive.Mazda is so underrated. They still build their cars in Japan like other brands use to like Toyota, Nissan. They know how to build cars. The old Japanese built cars and trucks lasted forever. I’m definitely sold on Mazda.
My daughters CX-30 was made in Mexico.
Mazda 6 is still the flagship my skyactive diesel gets 71 mpg
I traded in my 2018 CX5 Grand Touring for a 2023 CX5 Carbon Edition. Love it!
@Topnikko My 2023 CX5 was made in Japan. When I purchased they told me which models were made in Japan.
Love my 2018 CX5 and my wife's 2020 CX-30. Zero problems with either car and fun to drive. The new inline-6 looks like it would be a blast. Thanks, Scotty.
Just bought a 20’ cx 30 myself and I love it
I have a 2016 CX-5 I bought 2 years ago. I was influenced by my daughter who drives a '17 Mazda 6. I'll just say I'm a convert after years of domestic vehicles...
These cars like most newer cars are not much thicker then a beer can.And the paint on the 2018 models is nices but not very durable. But my wife does like the car. Its getting too small with the grand kids but with the crazy winters its better and safer for her to drive.
“You wanna go? Step on the gas and it goes!” Revolutionary engineering… I’m speechless. Love Scotty!!
You'd be surprised how many modern cars fail to do this in a timely manner because their computers suck.
Which Mazda model are you talking about? Any/all of them? Turbo charged?
haha all of 'em! Scotty's awesome

Love my CX-9 ! Will most likely stay with Mazda when it’s time for a new car . Stylish, Japanese quality and fun to drive.
Been driving Mazdas for like 5+ years. All kinds of models, well over 200k total miles and never had issues. All Japanese made models.
Agree.
My Mexican 2015 Mazda3 is still running great at 120k miles
@@Defy_Conventionmy Mexican Mazda3 still running like new with 140k miles
Big ups Scotty, I’ve been saying for years Mazda been underrated. IMO Mazda probably is the best kept secret in the car industry especially when it comes to getting more bang for your buck. Toyota and Mazda are in the same ballpark when it comes to reliability. Honda in the club also. But only if it’s made overseas as Scotty would say. So far so good the wife’s CX 5 is churning along. I think what’s going to happen is that I’ll inherit hers and she’ll get the 90 maybe a year or two down the line, and of course when the price goes down a little. I must be old but I never thought I would never see the day when just a average nice vehicle you would be paying over a thousand dollars a month for something that will depreciate the moment you drive it off the lot. But at the end of the day everybody likes nice things and to have nice things you have to pay for it.
Agreed been saying this for years, Got a Friend of Mine He's a devout Toyota fan his wife wrecked their last Toyota he talked to me cuz I'm a mechanic of over 40 years did all the work on his vehicles and I highly recommended the CX-5 he bought one on my recommendation and absolutely loves it.
Mazda has better reliability than Toyota nowdays and it looks and drives better
We have owned four new Mazdas. That was after trying US, German, the other Japanese brands. The Mazdas are very reliable, economical, solid, safe, and fun to drive. The only downside is the infotainment system and now the automatic transmission in our 2016 CX5.
My 2005 Miata is still going strong. It's my daily driver here in Colorado. I enjoy waving to the Jeeps that have skidded off the road and are stuck in the ditch when it snows.
Great video! I literally just bought this exact model coming from a Mazda cx9 carbon. I got the crystal red color and white interior. My wife was so excited when I told her I got her a new one. I also got 2.1% which is almost impossible w any other car brand right now. We pick it up in three days. Can’t wait!
Bought my Mazda cx5 in 2015. Still driving and no issues. Never had an issue from the day I bought it!
I never considered buying Mazda before but my 20 yr old daughter was in the market for a new car and the CX-30 was just head and shoulders above anything else available in the price range. The build quality, paint, stunning interior, handling, safety ratings, insurance rates. It couldn't be beat. She absolutely loves it and I would consider buying the CX-90 for my next car.
I just got my 3rd Mazda. 2018 3 hatchback touring manual 6 speed. Absolute pleasure to drive. It will do almost anything my 944s did with way less maintenance.
Beautiful car, Mazda seems to be underrated.

I got my first Mazda 3 in 2009. The 1st gen. My cars were VWs but I was curious about this new brand in Mexico at the time. I just got my 3rd Mazda 3. I just love them. I'm glad I decided to take the chance and try that 1st Mazda 3 in 2009 because they are really great cars.
That’s what’s so great about them. Even the SUV’s are fun to drive.
I’ve had two Mazdas, a 6 that was totaled😢😢😢, and I just bought a used 5 for my kid in college. I’m seriously thinking of buying the CX-90 as my next new (or new to me) car. I absolutely love how Mazdas drive…and no maintenance issues. 🎉
I just bought a CX90 and absolutely love it!
Scotty, wanted to respond to your comment about speed limit recognition in this model vs. others. In some models the front cameras are used for traffic sign recognition including speed limits, and some are GPS based. I think Mazda may use cameras so it wouldn't have limits for the coverage area.
I love Scotty. This car was my first new car purchase ever and he puts my mind at ease. Love it so far
The car in the video is mine...My wife and I are having a blast with it. It's as nice as any Mercedes or BMW we've owned. We love the updated features too.😊

@joelmurray1275 I own a PHEV PP, and I am loving it. Got it over Turbo S because I wanted 7 seats and the PHEV is just as fast as the Turbo S.
Looking forward to many worry free miles with high gas mileage and lots of fun when you step on it!
Loved the old school, "family mechanic" review. As a CX 50 owner, I'm relieved Scotty likes Mazda. I too, used to own Mercedes and BMW.
I've been a Mazda lover since my old 1985 RX7. Our CX5 was bought in 2016 and I have, quite literally, had to do absolutely nothing to that car over almost eight years. Routine maintenance, tires, brake pads and rotors (which I did myself) and the car car has performed flawlessly. We are seriously thinking about upgrading either to the new CX5 or the CX90 since my wife likes the idea of the extra space. I drove a CX9 and loved it, this looks even better.
Scotty I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so happy test driving a car 😊
I researched for a year on Honda and Toyota cars. Then one evening test drove a Mazda 3 2022, enjoyed it so much that I signed the docs and drove it home same evening.
Great review on this vehicle. I love seeing the CXs on the road. They are lovely to see on the road. If I had my druthers, I would get the CX-5, but my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee is making me happy.
Never seen such an optimistic review from Scotty, but if i was in the market right now, id consider this!
I can remember when Scotty used to break people’s balls about buying Mazdas, because of the turbo engine’s “lack of reliability.” I responded to that narrative by buying a CX-9 Signature. It’s the best vehicle I ever owned.
Beautiful review, Scotty.
Great reviews Scotty, The drive along was fun 😃
Very nice, and glad to see the inline 6's come back! Definitely beats the V6.
I always thought the inline 4 cylinder sky active engine from Mazda sounded pretty good for a 4 cylinder so I'm glad to hear their inline 6 sounds amazing too! Maybe we can get it in the Mazda 3 lol
The cx90 inline 6 those has quite a few design issues that will make maintenance very difficult down the road. For starters for such a big car there is absolutely no room to work inside that engine bay it is absolutely stacked inside. As well, they chose to do a rear timing belt which requires engine pulled to service. From what ive heard, it was a nice first try but this thing will be a nightmare to work on. Honda pilot for me
I'll been looking at Mazda lately, Great Video! 🏁🏁
I have a 2012 Mazda 6i that has the 2.5 4 cylinder with over 300000 miles on it. I owned it for over 10 years and it’s been one awesome car.
That paint job is amazing.

You're the best Scotty. I have had 2 Mazda 6 and currently a CX5. I think they are great cars and fit my price point. I also have a weekend 2002 Miata that runs like a dream and so much fun. Mazda is an exceptional company that most surveys don't give it enough credit.

That engine sounds really, really good. I bet with a little exhaust system on there you'd be turning heads from people looking for an M3.
Thanks, Scotty for telling us about your CX90 experience! I've been lusting after this vehicle since before it was released, and you've confirmed my thoughts. There's a strong chance one will end up in my driveway at some point in the next year or so to replace my ancient '07 GMC Yukon XL Denali (still runs GREAT). The CX90 is drop dead gorgeous, and Mazda does the BEST red colors I've ever seen - that Artisan Red with the white Napa Leather interior is stunning indeed!
Hey what happened with the camera on this one? I got a little motion-sick with all the fast panning LOL! 🤢Great video anyway, sir.
These vehicles are quickly convincing me plugin hybrids will eventually be a spoil sport to EVs: as PHEVs get closer to 100+ miles on electric, that will easily meet daily needs. While hybrid mode likely works fine on road trips or places with bad charging infrastructure. Maybe I'm overestimating how many people want that.
I bought my new 2024 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium inline 6 back in late July after spending over a year searching for a replacement SUV. It is a stunning, head turner of a vehicle with exterior color Platinum Quartz Metallic and interior color Black Nappa Leather. I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase, and I know you will be as well. Best of luck!
Scotty, love your reviews, but you fail to mention you need to pull front clip and entire motor to change a simple timing chain! Kinda of a big deal wouldn’t you say? Might be a deal breaker for some down the road!

Never was a fan of Mazda. Till back in 2018. Needed something with good gas mileage. Got a Mazda 6. Was very impressed with the quality and amount of features. Then I got a 2023 cx9 and now 24 cx90. For the money you spend you get the most features great quality. Any other manufacturer you would be over 90k for to get all the features Mazda offers. Not saying the cx90 is cheap by any means. But you get a lot more for your money with a Mazda vs any other manufacturer.
My first car in 1987 was a 1983 RX7. Been a fan ever since.

Good to see Mazda getting some long due notice. They were the silent option behind Toyota & Honda. Though i am concerned at the attempt to go "upscale".
2011 Mazda 3 2.5L. 200,914 miles.
I get why they're going upscale though, to separate themselves from Honda and Toyota. They can't compete with them in terms of sales, so in order to attract sales, their selling point would have to a one tier higher luxury. My 2019 Mazda3 HB AWD, feels a lot more premium than my friends 2021 Camry SE and both cars are basically the same price. The interior isn't scratchy plastic, all the buttons and control feels more expensive, and the infotainment looks a lot cleaner. Toyota and Honda interiors will not age well because it's too flamboyant. I do like the new Civic's interior, but not sure about the quality in person. It's looks very similar to the BP Mazda3.
I think there is a camera in front of vehicle that takes a picture of certain road signs and then it shows up on your display to see. My camry does this.
My Hyundai Venue does this too.
Hi Scott thats a beautiful SUV Goodluck with your new vehicle.
I didn't need a big suv so I went with the cx 50. My 4th Mazda and as usual I enjoy it very much.
Was considering the Subaru Ascent, Toyota Grand Highlander, VW Atlas and Mazda CX90. Placed my order for the CX90 today. Hopefully it was the right call! It's on the boat right now, so I have to wait a few weeks, but I'm excited to see how it does!
It's a good thing you didn't buy the Subaru their money pets, he'll be pleased this punch with your Mazda purchase, good riding comfortable reliable vehicle.
It's a good thing you did not buy the Subaru they are money pits, you will be pleased as punch with the Mazda, comfortable good looking reliable vehicle
Same here. Wanted the Grand Highlander at first, and even though
it was the better car imo, markups killed it for me. Wasn’t worth it, even for the XLE. Dealerships were asking $50k for the base trim GH. No thanks. CX-90 was cheaper when considering base model, and no markup!
Did you get your new CX90? How do you like it so far ?
Looks like a wonderful car I hope mazda puts this engine in a sedan
FYI that heads-up display isn't reliant on a data connection. It's using a forward camera by the mirror to read speed signs. Sounds like your previous Toyota experience is a different operation.
These are gorgeous!! If I was in the market for another SUV right now, I'd definitely be a buyer for this!
Had 7 Mazdas and still have 2
With zero problems 👍🏻
I miss my 2015 Mazda3! You don’t see that many Mazdas on the roads but they sure are excellent vehicles and are so much fun to drive! Excellent reliability!
- "You don’t see that many Mazdas on the roads"
Oh, you DO indeed if you're lucky enough to live in a town with a Mazda dealer.
Down here in Mexico you see them everywhere. It is a very popular brand.
I drive a 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback. Car runs like new
I love the dash to axel ratio of new Mazda's even the 3 has more dash to axel than all the other front wheel drive cars.
I own a Mazda CX3…super fun car to drive! I totally agree with Scott on this one. Mazdas are GREAT cars!!
The all-new, 2024 Mazda CX-90 Mild Hybrid AWD full-size crossover is one of the best vehicles in the North American market. It has the all-new, 3.3 L six-cylinder turbocharged engine with 340 horsepower and it has the all-new, eight-speed automatic transmission. This vehicle should do a comparison to the all-new, 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander HybridMax and the all-new, 2023 Honda Pilot with the all-new, ten-speed automatic transmission. Thank you very much and have a great week ahead.
This engine has the timing chain/gearing in the BACK of the motor. The new 8-speed automatic is a wet clutch pack non-torque converter transmission.
So I’d trust the reliability as long as the warranty, because the repair bill for any of this is going to be astronomical.
Ya, AMD mentions the horrible idea of installing the engine backward and the astronomical costs for repairs.
Agree, why put a timing chain where you can’t get at it without pulling front clip and motor out! Repair nightmare! I do love the look though… roll the dice peeps…..
I drove the new turbo model and was surprised how jerky it was before even leaving the parking lot.
Let of the gas and the shudder. Basically feels like a old dual clutch car from yesteryear.
I agree the timing chain placement is bad, but, we are not talking about a GM 2.4 or 3.5 Ecoboost here... I am not aware of any major timing chain issues with Mazda... Assuming they used the 2.0/2.5 as a template, I would assume the timing chain and guides will last the life of the car
Disaster written all over it, the trans will fail soon
They for sure handle and drive phenomenally
@Scotty
When do you think it's a point when you can safely determine the longevity of a new drive line?
Two or three years into production?
Is it a Mazda transmission?
All inline 6 cyl.have been the most reliable powerful engines I have known.
I can't really afford one of these, but I see a couple of CX9 carbon editions at great prices at my local dealerships. They are 2022 and 2023 dealer demos/loaners with very low mileage. Wondering what all of you think about that option? I love the overall look inside and out and am super impressed with the red leather or pleather. Whatever it is, I really like that color of red period
I would tell you to go for it without hesitation. The CX-9 is a great vehicle as are all current gen Mazdas. The carbon edition is a beautiful trim as well.
Is take the cx9 over the cx90. Main reason is the cx9 has been around for a while. The cx90 is the first year model with a completely new motor so we donnot know what the reliability is yet. I drove a cx9 as a rental and absolutely loved it. I also love my 2014 mazda 5.
Have the 2021 CX-9 touring it’s a blast ❤❤❤
I bought a closeout '23 cx9 and I love it. My minor gripes - knee room could be better, and only 2 front cupholders.
We got a 2022 CX9 Touring Plus. 12,000 miles and no issues at all. Totally recommended.
I love your energy!!!
Thanks a lot Scotty! You just drove the retail to $55K for the base model.
I just picked up my CX-90 two weeks ago. I love it! It replaced my 2017 Highlander which I also loved. My two Highlanders gave me over 400k trouble free miles. When my brother in laws boasted about their Mazdas, I had to take a look and I'm so glad I did. Mine was $53k out the door due to having the Preferred rather than PHEW, "S" and Premium. Thanks Scotty for the review and I too hope it does not fall apart at 60k miles!
You should have gotten grand Highlander
Great purchase. We love my wife’s CX-90 PHEV. Don’t worry, the Grand Highlander is overpriced and hyped. Plus it’s boring. Mazda still makes a car that is fun to drive while hauling all of your kids/pets/things.
@@JJustinXuI personally was going to until dealerships marked up the cheapest grand highlanders to $50k. Wasn’t worth it sadly imo.
Make sure you get your recalls done ! I work at a Mazda dealership and there are a few reprogramming recalls on the 90’s. Nothing scary so don’t be worried but definitely something you want to do while they tweak out all the little bugs
we got my wife one for work. The plug in and gas. It's a great car super fast and smooth. She loves it. She had a 2022 Hybrid Highlander before this car.
