Good for Steven Tyler but all the credits should go to the step dad who raised her, shelter her, protected her and provided for her. Being a step parent to children who isn’t yours is not easy but so rewarding when the child calls you their “dad/mom”. It means you are important to them.

Not all the credit. Liv did not grow up with Todd in her home. Todd left her mom shortly after Liv was born. However, he did visit often and never stopped providing for Liv's education. He gave her his name, (even with his doubts), gave her support and love because she was a child that needed him. 👏 But, Liv herself says she has two dads. Steve has been a part of her life since she was 11. He was excited to find out she was his. He included her in his life even though he still struggled with his addictions so there were difficult times for sure. Lapses in his time with her and his other daughter Mia. Not the best dad material, but, he does love her. Liv calls Todd Daddy and Steve Dad. Liv changed her name legally to Tyler. It was her choice. I can respect that. They both love her and she loves them. 😉
It's just a shame that her real dad is a documented kiddy fiddler.

Todd Rundgren is largely uncredited for the amazing role he played as legal father of Liv. I've met Todd Rundgren, and he's a really nice guy.

"I'm so grateful to Todd for choosing to be a father figure to me. It’s a big thing for a man to say, “I know this kid might not be mine, but I still want to be her father.” Although he and my mom weren’t together, he was always a very stable, loving force in my life."
Then, she goes on to talk about things they did together.
Her mother raised her though without either man in the house. Todd did visit and paid for her education, but, the rest was up to her mom.

The ignorance of some people, a real father is the father that, protects, provides, and loves the child. The REAL Father is not always the biological father.

You are almost correct. While the REAL father is biological, the EXCEPTIONAL father is the one who provides, protects, etc.; but at least Steven Tyler is making it up to her when many biological fathers won’t. He would have had a relationship with her from the start if he wasn’t suffering from addiction. It takes a lot for an addict to go to rehab and get sober, let alone, remain sober. It seems that a lot of the reason he dies stay sober is for his kids and grandkids. I wish them all the best.

Don't you know the difference between a sister and a stepsister? Stepsisters are not biologically related. One of them's Mom married the other ones Dad and this is how they become stepsisters (or stepbrothers). The girls in question have the same biological father, they are related, they are true sisters. You can call them half sisters if you want but they are sisters for real.

To me, it is shocking that an 8-year-old was so insightful and aware enough to be figuring out something was off about the story of who her father was and recognized Steven as her bio dad. At eight I was clueless and would not have noticed anything.
I was adopted and my birth mom came to all my basketball games and stuff so she was just the nice lady always watching me play, while I also knew I was adopted, and I’m sure in some way was told she was my bio mom, but it never quite computed for me until my early teens. Definitely not at 8. And I had all the facts.
I was an affair kid and from a very young age I knew something was off. My parents both had blue eyes and I have brown and I would always ask how that was possible.
It's a feeling inside that you just can't explain. The same thing happened to me except it was my mother. I was raised by my father and my older brother's mother. And when you finally find the truth it makes you feel whole inside. Like you finally found where you belong. It's a good feeling and I'm so happy that they are getting along and getting to know one another. :D

I had a group of friends that I grew up with, and we each had one blue eyed parent and one brown eyed parent, but only one of us had blue eyes. You never know, but I guess your gut telling you something was off is more important than punnet squares!
every eye color chart that I have seen says that 2 blue eyed parents have 0% chance of having a brown eyed child.
You're saying that your parents have brown and blue right? In that case they have a 50% chance of having a child with brown eyes and a 50% chance of having a child with blue eyes and a 0% chance of having a child with green eyes.
When both parents have blue eyes, they will not have a brown eyed child though.

Legally Todd is the father on Liv's birth certificate since her birth. He's not her stepdad. She looks like Todd and her mom never had a blood or DNA test done to see who the real father is.....

@@plumdutchess Liv's nose does not look like Steven's, at all. A smaller, feminine version of Todd's is what I see. Steven has more of a wide mouth than big lips. His "clone" kids are Chelsea and Taj. They look nothing like Liv. Without a DNA test Liv's mom can only assume who the biological father is. She was sleeping with both of them around the same time. Chelsea Tyler did a commercial for Urban Decay Cosmetics. She's a female version of her dad. Seeing that really made me see how much Liv really doesn't look like Steven but actually looks like Todd instead.
@TheBOG3 I have seen several pix of Steven when he was really really young, like 22., 23. Where he still had a really full face (puffy cheeks of youth) and in a few of them, there is an uncanny resemblance to Liv. Same expressions, so so similar looking to her. They both get that Slightly lazy eye when maybe tired (him maybe stoned) he really looked feminine in a way when super young too. A photo of him and bassist Tom standing in front of a white closet, Tom w a beer can. I have seen that picture several times. He looks sooo much like Liv. A few other pics of his youth too. Clear resemblance. I believe I read somewhere that yes her mom did do a paternity test. I recall for sure the mom saying she had added up the months; and had been apart from Todd so long during their break up that it couldn't even be a possibility for Todd to have fathered her. Also Steven has had a couple nose jobs done. His original nose was perfectly fine and slim also, but for some reason he had it changed to thinner. I have studied so much footage and photos of him from childhood to now (I'm obsessed w him) that I have really studied his features and every inch of him that I think I can really see this, I can't just casually glance at him. She is definitely his IMO. I agree w you though. Of his 3 girls, Chelsea looks most like him, she really really does. But different mothers too. I also see him in Mia.

She was 8 and her Dad was another even more famous guy...when I was 3 I started asking and I kept asking my whole life why I looked different from the rest of the family on either side and on my 29th birthday I learned that my Dad is not my biological father, but instead my bio-Dad is a now homeless drug-addict who had been put in the army at 17 by his Dad for running off with the neighbor's daughter (who's older than him) and having a baby with her and that's how he got to be in Germany where he was stationed in the late 70s to early 80s and met my Mom...so yeah, one hell of a story for Liv... Also: I have ONE Dad and that's the guy who gave me his name and his time and his love and still does so. The other guy is basically just a sperm-donor to me.

@@plumdutchess In part, sure, but it's his decision to still blame everybody else and their grandma instead of taking responsibility for the decisions he made now that he's in his 60s. It was also his decision to call me an ungrateful brat for calling him out on telling my Mom completely different things than me. Nobody made him lie, nobody made him not check in on my Mom when he knew she was pregnant when he left Germany, nobody made him run off at 15 to play house with the 19 year old neighbor girl, nobody made him take drugs and not take care of worldly stuff, but from his perspective he's just the victim...and it's not fun for me either to not be able to respect my father seeing how he hasn't learned from his mistakes and keeps refusing to. If I could help him, I would, but since it's either "mija" or "b*tch" I really don't care about keeping in touch with him. Also my older brother tells me the man used to slap him around as a kid and as an adult he, too, is either "mijo" or "b*st*rd", so....nah, I don't need that kind of mental terror. My Dad is a godsent, never hit me or my younger brother, always there to help and support, he deserves the title DAD.

In Germany, where I grew up, we're of legal age when we're 18 and only under 14 it's against the law, so from my perspective it was kind of okay-ish... =) In this very matter age is just a small piece to a much bigger puzzle, that's why I never put that much emphasis on it =)
considering how abusive he was to his child bride, it's probably a good thing her mom kept her away from him. she's an amazing actress.

I know it's her bio dad and he was unaware but the simple fact that he was heavily addicted to drugs shows he could not have been there for her. She couldn't have even added a dashed last name lol and then just used Tyler for stage purposes?
She does have a dashed last name, her real name is Liv Rundgren Tyler. Her "stage" name is Liv Tyler, probably because it's easier to remember.

@3:38 - I got some wonderful advice about this label when I was quite young: Instead of saying "real father," which can be pretty hurtful, us "biological" or "bio" father. That clearly differentiates between parents without putting a judgement on it.
To be fair Steve was not Liv's REAL father, just her biological one. Her real dad is the one who was with her from birth, who was there at her first steps; first words. Yes, they developed a relationship, but lets not forget the man who was there from the beginning.

Every baby should be DNA tested at birth by law in my opinion. So many kids unknowingly being raised by a different father, paying child support their whole lives and often never finding out
If there's a question of paternity the dad can request DNA test...I don't think a law is needed.

@christinehutchins123 Idiotic take, particularly when most of the men raising other men's kids are MARRIED to deceitful wives whom they TRUST and in some states, if you are married to said woman you are automatically considered the father and are put on the birth certificate. The US will never make testing mandatory because the states will be on the hook for the support of too many ill-conceived kids.
If a couple is married, the husbands name is automatically put down. If you aren’t married, the man either has to sign the birth certificate on his own or take it to court and force a paternity test.

Ted Nugent took up with a teenager who became a stepmom of sorts to his young children from.his first marriage after his ex wife died of an overdose. I think he was also one of several guys, since outted, who had the parents of an underage girl sign over guardianship to the rock guy.. Wtf is it with these men and teenage girls. It has that Elvis at 26 with 16yo Priscilla creepy vibe to it all.over again.
@@msr1116my neighbor/landlord married his wife when she was 14. It wasn't long ago when it was common for girls to be married before the age of 18. I'm not saying I condone it, just saying that "back in the day" women were young brides. We find it disgusting now but also have to remember that people matured much faster a short while ago.

This is a very heartwarming story and even if it was hard for liv to find out the truth after 8 long years I am glad that bebe finally told her the truth! Because holding it in for that long is not healthy and ya gotta get it out sooner or later! Yes. My husband's 2 brothers had a different father than him. But all 3 grew up together and were all close in age. So it was always like they were 100 percent brothers. Never did anyone ever call them half brothers. But he is jealous of that they are both stick thin and he struggles with his weight up and down.

She actually looks a lot like her mom. If you pull up pics of her mom when she was younger with her natural brunette hair, you will see it. Liv's face is longer like Steven's with similar cheekbones, but she has her mother's eyes, nose and chin. Same dimples when she smiles. Actually his third daughter Chelsea looks the most like him of all his daughters.

Feel sad for Todd who stepped up and was there for all the hard stuff yet Liv seems to have dumped him with his name, yet he was the one that WAS there for her..
I understand why you would feel that way. Another way to think and feel about it is that it takes a village and Todd didn’t lose a daughter but gained a partner in being a dad. Steven surely wasn’t ready when it was necessary and Todd was. Now that Steven is ready, the baton passes. Todd now is released from the responsibility but has enriched his life with a wonderful relationship with Liv. I didn’t pick up any animosity. Financially though I would hope Steven did right by Todd
It doesn't sound like he played the hands on father though, he helped but with some distance. Where in time Tyler was in daily contact so I think they may both have been in agreement at that point.

I've always thought so. Just to add, a paternity test was never taken so this is all just based on hunches and the mere fact that Bebe Buell had a "type". Todd Rundgren and Steven Tyler both have long faces and big mouths, but over all, the resemblance to Todd is, in my opinion greater.
