I feel like the vanilla werewolf footsteps are good enough because it makes more sense for an Apex predator to be a bit more sneaky than a werewolves size would let them on to be. Harder to catch your prey when they can hear you coming.
That's a fair point. I would love to see someone make a proper stealth mod for werewolves so they could be played more so as a stealthy predator

It’s called Werewolf Animation and Sneak Extension (OAR)
Thanks for pointing that out, It seems interesting but looks as though it doesn't work with Nemesis which my modlist and most others rely on
@@DoctorNostalgiaModsOAR works fine alongside the Nemesis.
I had a chance to test it out and can confirm that it does indeed work and seems to be fully compatible with all the other mods I featured in the video.
I remember personally asking Enai for his take on a werewolf mod and at the time he didn't seem to understand why a werewolf mod would even be needed because he hadn't really tried being a werewolf before in his own playthroughs...
(This happened in the Nexus mod comment section below one of his other mods) I started explaining it to him before somebody else hopped in and finished explaining the problems with lycanthropy in the base game of Skyrim. I remember reading the mod author decide then and there to make a vanilla plus style mod for that (although I don't think he had come up with the name "growl - werebeast of Skyrim" yet)

@@trikaskkkkthe mod listed in this video, “Moonlight Tales Mini - Highly Compatible” is basically moonlight tales, Will some things taken out, but filled in with others. You can use growl and basically any other werewolf mod with it.

Big fan of JPSTEEL’s new Berserkyr quest mod that deals with werebears too. Not as relevant maybe since this is about werewolf specific mods, but the Berserkyr patch collection also makes it possible to run werewolf overhaul mods alongside the overhaul of werebears introduced by Berserkyr, allowing you to basically have separated but consistent overhauls for both Werebears and Werewolves.
Not to mention that Berserkyr is just a really cool mod. Opportunity to become a werebear, introduces some ideas based on real Viking history, new armor, special new ingredient. Perfect alternative to the Companions faction quests, too.
I run it alongside Growl and the Old Ways: Nordic Religion. After using the dedicated patch collection to make it all run more smoothly together, you get the Imperial pantheon inside cities where it belongs, but the ancient Nordic pantheon in the wilderness. Then you can stumble along these tribal, almost Skaal-like werebear folk and can even join their practices if you want to.

You should try the "Skin-walkers" mod by chucacu. Best Werewolf skin by far IMO. Flies under the radar because the name is very searchable
Solid recommendation, that skin is absolutely terrifying
only mouth movement is needed and it would be the best skin replacer for sure

Dang I didn't know some of these existed, especially the Moonlight Tales that you can use with Growl. Awesome!
Will be checking out all of these mods for my werewolf play-through *except* the one for their footsteps. I think a creature that primarily comes out at night should have quiet footsteps and size isn’t a factor in this regard. Tigers and other big cats can be remarkably stealthy. Why not Werewolves, eh?
Question of a taste. For example, I more like idea of werewolves, as unstoppable and unkillable war machines.
@@IvanGerasimov-gn4teyea but that’s what an apex predator is is it not? For example in real life the one doing the killing and not dying in return is the one who’s not seen so it makes it feel more like a werewolf
@@keithjorgensen3273 If comparing with real life - it's like tiger and bear. Tiger is silent and unseen, and the bear lacks stealth, but with his strength and persistence stealth is not essential.
You'll likely never read this, but Doctor Nostalgia is the single greatest mod content for Skyrim or any game on the site right now. The incredibly editing, storytelling, tone, cinematic shots and of course the mod choices just blow everyone else out of the water. I eagerly await every video of yours at this point

I remember the original moonlight tales as a kid and how much I loved it. Now as an adult with a fully rigged PC, I think it’s time I return back to Skyrim

I just wish they would have added quest with the companions, or even another character or a pack or something similar where you all go hunting together. Or if they would have made it where every month there is a full moon and no matter what time, or where you are in the game you and all other wolves turn. Being able to eat raw meat and corpses while in human form would have also been cool. Changing the appearance of the character in human form.
I don't know if we're allowed to request video ideas here, but what if you made a video all about modded outfits? Either because of what they do, how they look, or both. I think there are a lot of really cool modded armors that deserve some recognition.

You said that the werewolf transformation doesn't scale well at higher lvls which may be true. But you can use the dragon aspect shout and then transform into a werewolf. I call this super Saiyan werewolf. You will get insane buffs as a result. Unfortunately you won't get the buffs with the vampire lord form but you get better looking visuals.

You should have included this mod (i forgot its name 💀) were it changes the werewolves model to make them less demonic and more wolf like (there is also now female werewolves) its fully compable with this other mod called werewolves variants which well as the name says makes variants
What is the armor you was using on your characters?
For the Silver Hand armours, I prefer the mod "Unplayable Faction Armours". Makes the unplayable factions, such as the Silver Hand much more unique looking.

Werewolf Narrative Expansion has been hidden and seems to be down for good, does anyone know anything that does similar? Also Predators - A Werewolf and Vampire Role Playing Tool works well for trying to blend in, eventually cause Silver Hand or Dawnguard/Vigilants to cities to patrol. It's really fun and add some stuff for werewolves.

are there just not as many werewolf related mods as vampire ones or are you gonna make another video?
Werewolf mods are fairly sparse especially compared to vampires. There aren’t enough to warrant a part 2, at least not now. I also had to cut a few I had originally intended on including due to them having incompatibilities with one or more of the other mods I showcased.

Only thing I don't like is the loud footsteps sound effects.
I remember meeting wolves in real life. It was snowing and they were literally walking arms' length from where I stood.
And I have sensitive hearing. To the point where I can hear bats and electronics running and such.

I remember playing as a werewolf with moonlight tales it was so fun but so annoying! 😂 For example when I just got to Windhelm for the first time and then BAM! a dragon attacks. I try to fight him and then BAM! I transform into werewolf. City guards start attacking me instead of helping me, the dragon tries to roast me from the sky and I can do absolutely nothing with it.😂
And that was only the beginning.
I fled to the abandoned shack, killed a sabercat there. Because the sabercat I could hit, unlike the dragon. I also used some needs mod, so my pc needed to eat and sleep. So I waited for the transformation to end, then I ate and slept for the rest of the day. In the evening I went to try and enter Windhelm again.
And as soon as I reached the famous bridge, it was all there again. The f**king dragon, the transformation, the guards...😢😢😢
I felt so helpless I wanted to cry.
I decided to hide under the bridge in a small niche, where the dragon could not reach me and wait till the guards kill that thing. It was a good plan. What could possibly go wrong?
Then to my horror I felt something is squeezing me out of my hideout. It was my horse, which I completely forgot about! It spawned right behind me for some reason and took the niche completely. I regretted having a horse at that moment. The dragon was happy, me - less so.
I fled again to the abandoned shack which I should have called my home at this point.😂 Waited, ate, slept. Went to Windhelm again. I know I'm stubborn.
But this time I was lucky. The f**king dragon attacked me near Kynesgrove. It happened at dusk so the cursed full moon was not out yet and I could use my spells. For the first time in that playthrough I was as happy to fight and kill a dragon as the true dragonborn should be!😂
The villagers were happy too. They were praising me for saving them and then BAM! I transformed. 😅 I had to flee again to avoid killing them.
If you are into that kind of experience, try forced transformations from Moonlight tales.

These do indeed work for werebears and with Moonlight Tales Mini you can select between a bunch of different werebear skins to use
I would have to say though, in my experience growl is too OP. Made my werewolf the most powerful being in the game at level 20.
I really think they nailed it with the werewolf abilities. The vampire lord, on the other hand, is kind of lame.

moonlight tales is kind of lore breaking.
Companion's version of the beast blood is more stable and they are in full control, full moons don't affect them.
