    Birds, birds, birds all around 🐦🦜🐦‍⬛🐤🦩🦢 I still wonder where those 18th century guys found a sparrow who could sing like that. Those in my yard only ever go chirp chirp.

    Actual bird flageolets (an octave higher than a sopranino recorder) survive, and copies of them are made by Philippe Bolton (France), Guido Klemisch (Germany ), and Houshun Masuda (Japan), amongst others.

    Quite magical! The sound from recorders replicates the sound of bird calls very nicely. Makes one wonder if the physiology involved in bird calls is in any way similar to the block flute. Very nicely done, regardless. Thank you.

    As a card carrying nerd, I would probably listen to recordings of the birds in the wild to find if that could inform my interpretation. Perhaps you did? Your performance is very persuasive!

      Bullfinch is my favourite. I don't think the music accurately immitates the callls, but captures the essence of each bird...

      The melodies were not intended to mimick the birds, but to TEACH them tunes, in line with their general ability to sing.
