Bei den Verkehrsregeln geht es nicht nur um Effizienz, sondern vor allem auch um Sicherheit.
Ich find's auch einfach unkomplizierter. Ich halte mich an die Regeln - ich muss nicht abwägen oder überlegen und komme seltener in unangenehme Situationen.
Und als Radfahrer nervt es tierisch wenn ständig Autos oder Fußgänger den Radweg blockieren.
in erster Linie gehts um Ordnung man ist nunmal nicht der letzte mensch auf erden

I am from The Netherlands and am used to bicycle lanes. My problem in Germany is that it often is not clear that it is a bicycle lane instead of a pedestrian side walk.

Hello Johannes. Having lived in The Hague and visited many other cities in the Netherlands, I hear you. In the Netherlands, all bike lanes look the same no matter where you are. They're all painted in red. But Germany is a much bigger and more diverse country than the Netherlands, and not as bike friendly. In many parts of Germany there aren't even bike lanes. Anyway, if you get yelled at, it's not the end of the world. I think that culture/customs in Germany and the Netherlands are very very similar.

Trinkgeld geben ist NIE ein Muss in Deutschland. Es ist immer freiwillig. Niemand wartet an deinem Sitzplatz im Restaurant auf sein Trinkgeld. Deshalb haben wir in Deutschland soziale Marktwirtschaft, damit das Personal anständig bezahlt werden muss. Also es ist höflich guten Service auch mit Trinkgeld zu bezahlen aber nicht bei schlechtem Service/Qualität.
Giving tip is Never a must in Germany, its your free decision for being good served and nobody waiting in restaurant for this. It´s the task from restaurants boss to pay the workers correct. Thats why we have in Germany "social market economy" that every worker is paid correct. So its nice to give some for good service and not a must for bad service quality.
Aha, Mindestlohn 8 Euro 50 ist also fair bezahlt im service? Gute soziale Marktwirtschaft...

Hab mich bei dem Punkt auch sehr gewundert. In Deutschland erwartet niemand Trinkgeld, im Vergleich zu manch anderen Ländern zumindest.
Also mir sind auch nie unangenehme Situationen passiert. Meistens runde ich auf, dann kommt nicht viel dabei raus, aber trotzdem habe ich nie negative Reaktionen wahrgenommen
@@amoninser3238 ist natürlich nicht viel und in teuren Gegenden vielleicht sehr knapp. Aber zb manche Kellner in den USA bekommen 3 bis 4 Dollar die Stunde und sind tatsächlich auf Trinkgeld angewiesen, und kalkulieren natürlich auch damit. Damit verglichen wurde ich schon sagen, dass der hiesige Mindestlohn auch gänzlich ohne Trinkgeld zum Überleben reicht. Wenn dann durch guten Service noch gutes Trinkgeld dazukommt, dann passt das auch. :)
Whatever you do in Germany, do NOT use the left lane while you are driving unless you are passing another vehicle.. Otherwise stay in the right lane on the autobahn AND any other highway/street that you have multiple lanes. Driving on the left lane without passing anyone is against the law and causes serious accidents. And respect all the rules also! Dankeschön. 🙌🏻🇩🇪
You are right, but you should rather say that you always have to drive on the 'rightest' lane, driving on the middle lane when the right lane is free is just as stupid as driving on the left lane

You don't realize how fast a car is at 230 km/h.
And a lot of people understimate the small cars like my tiny fiat. So many nearly accidents when some one thinks they have time to use the left lane to pass somone else, when I'm coming with 150km/h, trying to fly past everybody.
There is a little caveat to this: As far as I know it is acceptable to stay in the left lane, as long as you are faster than the drivers in the right lane.
It's been so pleasant to learn German with you. Your voice has a soothing and therapeutic effect on me.
Also wenn man auf Trinkgeld wartet, ist man nicht grade professionell.
Sicherlich gehört es zum guten Ton, dass man Trinkgeld geben sollte, es ist aber immer noch jedem selbst überlassen, ob man dies tut oder nicht!
Jemandem, der auf Trinkgeld warten und bestehen würde, würde ich ganz bestimmt keines geben. Ist mir auch noch nie passiert.

6:25 ohh das war eine witzige Situation🤣; vor 4 Monaten bin ich mit meiner Klasse in Frankfurt am Main gewesen, damit unsere Kenntnisse verbessern. Unsere Zimmer im Hotel sind nicht noch frei gewesen,deshalb haben wir auf unsere Unterkunft auf der Straße warten müssen (wir waren viele Schüler und es gab keinen Platz), als einige Leute, die Fahrräder gefahren haben, uns angeschrien. Wir hatten keine Ahnung, was passiert, aber unsere Lehrerin hat uns erzählt, dass wir nie auf dem Radweg stehen müssen. Ich hab' mich in vielen Situationen erkennt *super Video*🤣😍🇩🇪🇧🇬
Hahaha, diese Situation kenne ich! Schullklassen auf Fahrradwegen! Das finden Fahrradfahrer in Deutschland ganz schrecklich. 😂🙈Tut mir leid, dass ihr diese negative Erfahrung machen musstet! 😊

Hallo ich komme aus Indonesien und jetzt studiere in Münster. In Münster auch so, wenn es auf der Straße keine Fahrzeuge gibt aber grüne Lampe noch nicht gekommen, uberquert man nicht. Er wartet noch bis grün kommt. Das ist super. Das hab ich nie in andere Länder gefunden. Nur die Deutsche, die sind am folgsamsten bei der Vehrkersregeln.
Hahaha jaaaa. Ich bin in Münster aufgewachsen und ich fand es schrecklich! 😂 Jetzt lebe ich in Berlin und fühlel mich viel freier. In Berlin gehen die Leute über rote Ampeln und die Polizei hat andere Dinge zu tun als Fahrradfahrer zu kontrollieren 😊

Ich hab fast jeden Tag keine Verkehrspolizei gesehen. Trotzdem die Leute immer gehorsam sind. Ich war verwundert als ich erstmal kam.
Ich werde nach Berlin fahren am Ende dieses Monats, da würde ich gerne die Leute in Berlin mit Einwohnern in Münster vergleichen. Wer ist am folgsamsten😁

Das witzigere ist, dass deutsche über rote Ampeln gehen. Allerdings nur, wenn andere das auch tun. Das bedeutet, wenn einer über rot läuft ziehen nach und nach mehr Leute mit. Bleiben aber alle stehen, bleibt der Rest auch stehen :D

When we go on vacation it always surprises me how friendly German people are. In my experience they often like to talk. As a Dutch woman I try to speak German. Not always succesfully but we can understand each other mostly very well.
When I have been to Malaysia, I have been surprised that some Germans would say good morning to us though they do not know us . I have heard that sometimes neighbors there do not say hi or good morning ...

When I was in Sittard this last spring, I met a few Dutch who know three to four languages just because of the close proximity to Belgium and Germany. Most Dutch that I have met speak very good English and are very polite, that why I loved visiting The Netherlands. That and you have good beer there also. ;-) I like Heineken and Grolsch.
I remember well all of the stores being closed on Sundays. But, another frustrating situation was how many of the stores in the town I lived in would close at 5 pm the other days. So, there was a mad rush by people just leaving work to get to the supermarket and elsewhere to buy food etc.

Ich bin in Deutschland geboren und aufgewachsen, habe aber die letzten 16 Jahre in England gelebt.
Letzte Woche war ich allerdings für 4 Tage in Düsseldorf und Oberhausen (wegen einer Hochzeit) und mein #MindBlown Moment war in Oberhausen am Bahnhof als ich dort im Supermarkt war und ganz unvoreingenommen mit Karte zahlen wollte:
Kassierer: “Kartenzahlung akzeptieren wir nicht, tut mir leid”
Ich: guck ihn nur an wie ein Reh im Scheinwerferlicht...
“Ihr Ernst??? Wieso denn das nicht!??”
Er: “Nö, ham wir noch nie. Damit gab es zu viele Betrugsversuche” 🤷🏻♂️
Ich: “Hä? Wenn sie noch nie Karten akzeptiert haben, wie kann es dann sein dass sie betrogen wurden??” 🙋🏼♀️
Er: 🙎🏻♂️

Die Händler müssen Gebühren zahlen für die Kartenzahlung der Kunden. Kleine Geschäfte wollen sich die Gebühren sparen.

🤣ja, im dorfladen ! wenn an der kasse erstmal in aller ruhe über die letzte silberhochzeit gesprochen wird. da lernt man ganz nebenbei die verwandschafts verhältnisse über den landkreis hinaus kennen 🤣 . .... dem sein schwager, davon des onkels tante, davon der nachbar .... und dem sein junge.... das war der, der hinten neben .... gesessen hat 🤣.
meistens liebe ich es, ich muß dann immer schmunzeln, gerade wenn diese linie einen bekannten/arbeitskolegen kreutzt und man selber anfängt sich hinein zu denken und versucht zu folgen.

I was hit by bike riders so manyyy times in Germany, they were really angry with me standing on their way 😂😂 but the most problematic thing was Deutsche Bahn

Being late? My connection route which was on Departure Board simply disappeared. It took me 3 hrs.instead of 45mins. to reach my destination after taking 3 on & off rides.

6:00 - das klingt fast so, als wärst du nie im deutschen Straßenverkehr dabei gewesen. Jeder fährt so, wie er es gerade für richtig hält
Kommt drauf an wo du unterwegs bist.
In größeren Städten juckt es halt wirklich keinen was du machst.
In Vororten oder auch in Dörfern gibt es aber häufig Renter, deren Tagesgeschäft darin besteht andere zu korrigieren und sich als Dorf Polizist aufzuspielen
Ich war in Italien in der Gegend von Rom vor 4 Jahren (mein letzter Urlaub außerhalb von DE und AT) und da ist es extrem schlimm wie die Leute da fahren

Drinking alcohol in public is generally allowed, but some cities have some limitations on public alcohol dinking. Some city ares are some times of the day restricted, like no public alcohol around train and bus stations, down town areas or public parks at night.
But in generell it is not very socially accepted to drink alcohol on the street, many people would think you have a serious alcohol problem.
Rick2010100 It depends. If you drink alcohol alone, yes. But if you drink alcohol with friends in public its not a big deal.

Ich frage mich, warum man die Art Deutsch zu sein, so schlecht macht. Ich persönlich finde es gut, wenn man sich an gewisse Regeln hält. Man muss ja nicht wie ein Cowboy mit der Pistole sein Recht durch setzen. Finde ich genau so affig. Deutsch sein ist in Europa nicht schlecht angesehen, denn Europa ist bunt, da gehört unsere Art zu leben dazu.

Hey there. I know it sounds weird but get yourself a change purse. The lowest paper denomination here is 5 euros. 1€ and 2€ are coins and for normal purchases you'll collect these really quickly. So, just so you don't walk around with pockets full of loose change. Enjoy your trip

Man muss jahrelang lernen um alles in diesem Video zu verstehen. Allerdings wenn du keine Job, Kinder, etc und viel Zeit hast, dann kannst du in weniger als ein Jahr erreichen. Viel Erfolg!

I moved to a small town in Germany and the people only ever want to talk English with me and refuse sometimes to speak German,
especially when they find out that I am English.
My German is at a good level and it ends up a lot of the time with me having awkward conversations where I am speaking German throughout the conversation with a German person and they are only replying in English because they refuse to speak German to me In Germany.
(Even when I politely ask if we can speak German)
I find it helps to be impatient and generally bad tempered. Then they think you're a native. Or maybe that's just Berlin.

I don't think that people mean to be rude or condescending. In my experience, some Germans just LOVE to demonstrate how proficient they are in English. 😂

Das tut mir sehr leid, dass du so eine schlechte Erfahrung gemacht hast Alice :( - Das ist wirklich komisch. Viele Leute haben die gleiche Erfahrung gemacht und schon davon erzählt. Ich denke es ist eine Mischung aus verschiedenen Gründen. Sie wollen vielleicht selbst ihr Englisch üben, sie wollen vielleicht einfach höflich sein (aber machen das falsch) und am meisten denke ich, dass sie einfach effizient sein wollen: Was immer sie schneller zum Ziel bringt, ist das, was sie tun. Ungeduldig sind viele Menschen wahrscheinlich. Wo in Deutschland hast du gelebt? Oder lebst du dort noch?
Also ich als Deutsche habe das Gefühl, dass hier viele Klischees angesprochen werden, die in der Realität so garnicht oder selten zutreffen. Finde vieles auch sehr überspitzt.
Was erwarten Sie von einer Berlinerin?

Just came back myself 2 weeks ago it was amazing.
Except Aachen because it rained so much.
And I learned it was of the rainiest corners of Germany.

Weil ich Deutsch mag, lerne diesen Sprache aber Deutsch ist zu schwer für mich. Wenn Cari spricht, verstehe ich besser und ich sage dass, ich das machen kann und in der Zukunft ich auch gut Deutsch sprechen kann... ( Hoffentlich meine Sätze sind richtig.) 😊
Du kannst das auf jeden Fall schaffen. Gib nicht auf Naile. Der Anfang ist schwer und dauert oft lange... aber irgendwann wird es klappen 😃

Where to buy food on Sunday if you are stuck without:
- some gas stations have quite good supermarkets (e.g., Rewe ToGo); AND they are often 24/7
- At Bahnhofs, some supermarkets are open on Sundays (like Rossman, check in your city)
- Small grocery shops (Laden) mostly owned by non-native Germans (like Turkish and other Middle-East people); the choice may be limited to alcohol, crisps and crackers, but some sell Brötchen and other food.
- Some bakeries will be open on Sundays till noon (assortment will be quite limited though).
