From Season 1 Episode 6: Hot Girl - An attractive woman (Amy Adams) arrives at the office to sell purses and causes furtive glances from male staff members who vie for her attention. Dwight (Rainn Wilson) attempts to ask her out on a date but his advances are deflected, leaving the door open for Michael (Steve Carell) to step in. I miss the realistic scenes like the one at the end of this video. The interaction between Jim and Pam felt really real.
Yep those awkward small talk, real, REAL moments made it a gem.
It's crazy because that scene was scripted. These actors are truly unique because most scenes that I thought were improvised were scripted. That just shows how good they were.
Have you watched the original office? It was all like that.
Because it was still closely mimicking the UK version at the start. By season 3 it'd more or less completely moved away from what the original was.

In Season 8 she wrote the christmas episode which was the best episode and in season 7 she wrote Classy Christmas and Michaelâs Last Dundees, two great ones from Steve Carrelâs last season. Notice how the character quickly compensates for the jealousy with âcos Royâs got a TRUCKâ like she went to Jim cos she liked him, and then got jealous and quickly had to make Roy look bigger so she wouldnât look smaller lol

Yup, really good acting.
You can definitely see how the writers changed Dwightâs character and personality in the later seasons.
Season 1 Dwight was pretty much a carbon copy of his UK counterpart Garett. The cringy, hopeless loser who always gets made fun of by everyone.
But in later seasons, Dwight is really manly and capable, just eccentric.
Many aspects of Dwight is an inspiration to young men. Iron conviction.

I like to think Dwight was always like that, and we just needed to see him in real situations.
There are a lot of "losers" who live bragging about how they are black belt or whatever and
when the real situation comes up they either prove themselves wrong or right. Dwight proved
himself
Dwight isn't only capable in the later seasons. He's also hard working, alpha male, jack hammer. . Insatiable.
Not just Dwight, but the entirety of Season 1 was a carbon copy of the BBC version. Not saying the BBC version was bad, but I'm glad they let the actors and writers craft their own characters and take it in their own direction.
The chemistry between the actors makes their on-screen relationships look so authentic. Great show

Jenna Fischer actually looks a lot like Amy Adams; the show just went out of its way to dress her down and make her appear frumpy in the first few seasons.

Not to mention, Both Fischer and Adams also shared similar roles in Will Ferrel's movies only a year apart, Blades of Glory and Talladega Night. One more thing, they then also required to sing on musical movies those came out in the same year, although one is a parody of biopic movie, while the other is Disney fantasy musical movie.
As if their life intertwined at some point in their careers.
Amy was originally up for the part of Pam but Jenna got the part so that's why they let her play Katie

I wonder how Amy Adams feels after playing this role and then seeing how big the office eventually became. She is technically a season 1 OG.
She did all right. She was in several movies, not to mention she played Lous Lane in the Man of Steel franchise.
Actually best thing she did is not staying as regular character, his carreer is awesome better than almost all of The Office's actors

On top of all day having to deal with co workers telling her how inferior she is, and her own fiancĂ© joining in. It raised the jealousy and resentment to 11. Now sheâs taking her Jim away.
Itâs not a justified resentment at this point because sheâs loudly and proudly engaged despite Royâs abusive behavior.
I think one way or another, weâve all been there.

I doubt any of the interactions between Jim and Pam here are unscripted. But I heard that sometimes on this set the cameras would just roll without the actors necessarily knowing, and they'd catch Jenna and John just hang out and share a giggle in some corner of the room in about the same manner their characters do. That's pretty sweet and really proves just how effortlessly natural their dynamic is. :)

The first time I watched this episode, I took my eyes off the screen when Dwight went to go talk to Amy, and for a hot second, I thought he really was doing that voice, lol.
Hate that Pam would genuinely get jealous when Jim talked to women, all while engaged. Like only she could talk to him and only lead him on, but he could only talk to her
It's natural human jealousy, Pam isnt supposed to be the perfect human woman, she's average and flawed.

Pam was the worst. Being THAT close to Jim while she was engaged to Roy, who she later cheats on, shows her thirst for attention.
Jealousy is an emotion. You can't control your emotions. I'd argue that she shouldn't be engaged to someone she's not really in love with, but hey, everyone knows that, an important part of her arc is gaining the confidence & assertiveness necessary to stand up for herself, reassert what she wants, & make positive changes in her life. However, what I think is the important detail here is that she doesn't give Jim a hard time because, of course, she's with someone else too. She stays polite throughout the entire interaction. The writing & acting here was great - Pam is polite to Jim the whole time, but we as an audience can tell that she's jealous because of how awkward the interaction is here.
There's no hatred necessary. You're just watching a complex, well-acted female character in a well-written show.
This is why I watched so many episodes.
I relate to this, I was in management years ago and told my employees to keep salespeople away, "except for her."
