    You are a star! I have been quilting for 25 years and usually do not find lists of quilting tools helpful as I have a great collection of my own… but you identified products I didn’t have and weren’t aware of! I have been ordering and then using the recommended tools with great success and enjoyment. Congratulations on a great video. ❤️

    Cheaper DIYs…..You can make your own clapper by buying a small wooden chopping board and screwing a drawer handle on it 🤗 And I got my hubby to cut and sand me a strip stick from a half round stick bought from the homewares shop for a few dollars 🤗 And you can do the same thing as the binding presser with a couple of safety pins on your ironing board 🤗 I hadn’t seen that fabric relaxing pen iron tool tho, that’s interesting 🤗🤗 and rulers are one of my fetishes… hehe… I’m a sucker for buying ALLLLL the rulers even if half of them do the same thing!

    I will try the Magic but, in a spray bottle. Aerosol is not good for the environment. Careful with the wool mats. I've seen others use them and depending on what type of face plate you have; the wool could damage your iron. Great video - thank you!

    I have and use all these products except the strip stick. Who makes it or where can I buy it? Fabric folding pen is my precision quilting tool. After I apply it I open the seam and press. It eliminates turn of fabric bulk in blocks with many seam intersections!

      You can purchase the Strip Stick through the link I provided at Fat Quarter Shop or do a general Google search for Strip Stick and you will be taken to the manufacturers website to purchase it there. That is where I purchased mine.

    If the Faultless spray shrinks the fabric when ironing, does it unshrink when washed?

    • @quiltsaremypassion1270
      @quiltsaremypassion1270  Před rokem +1

      Unfortunately, no matter how your 100% cotton fabric is pre-shunk, it stays shrunk. Most quilters use cotton which is very prone to shrinkage. There are some quilters who pre-wash or pre-shrink all fabrics before using them in their quilts. I don't recommend pre-shrinking the precuts like layer cakes, jelly rolls etc.
      Due to the nature of cotton fabric, even if you use just water to pre-shrink your fabrics, your fabric will not unshrink. If you are worried about that do a lighter spray and your fabric will not shrink until you wash it. I hope this helps to clarify your question.

    Do you have a recommendation for a inexpensive decent iron? And omg that binding tool!!! I must have that. Binding is such a drag. Question tho. How does it slide over the sewed together pieces?

    • @quiltsaremypassion1270
      @quiltsaremypassion1270  Před rokem +1

      Irons are so difficult to find one that you like. I have had several over the years from not so expensive to really expensive. You might try a Black and Decker iron. I wish they still made good Sunbeam irons, but they don't. Good luck!
      The Binding Eaze tool is made of silicone which is why the fabric slips through and the iron can rest on it. I hope that helps.

  • @kambyr
    @kambyr Před rokem +1

    How do you get a wool mat that doesn’t smell like burnt hair any time you use steam on it. Mine stinks so bad I can’t bare to use it. Also buy a binding machine for $100, they are so cool. I’ve never been as successful using that mat with my iron though.

    • @quiltsaremypassion1270
      @quiltsaremypassion1270  Před rokem

      The wool mat I have on my ironing board doesn't smell. But, the small one did for a long time, like a wet dog. It's just something to expect with a wool mat since it's wool.
      I will look into a binding machine, that sounds like a good tool!

    Are you kidding? That spray is about $10 a can and you soak the fabric. Who can afford that when you can use about 6 cans a quilt.
