4:17 I'm confused... why can the rook infinitely check the king, why can the king not just run to g6 where he is safe from any checks?
That leads to some forced checkmate
@@martinsch6521 I think aayushgupta9773 is just right. If the king is checked on g7 he can just move to g6 where he is safe. Furthermore, there is no rook on c6.
@@martinsch6521 there is no rook on C6... I'm guessing you meant the rook on F6? Even so, how can that rook be attacked, there doesn't seem to be any move which does that except Rf7 which can be taken with the knight? Also once the king arrives on G7 isn't he completely safe? Only check is Bf7 which can be taken with the knight right?

At 4:25, if he took the knight with the rook, he threatened checkmate in 1. That way he could have elevated pressure on magnus eventually leading to a draw by repetition or resign
Doesn't work because of Rg1+, Ke2, f1=Q+ which would lead to mate
