One of the best comical songs! The better question isn't what he was thinking but rather what he was thinking with! 😂 It came out in 2003 so it's 20 years old.😊
LOL good catch ive heard this song i dont know how many times and i always heard finally got her home half past midnight which of course would be WAY too late
My favorite line is when he said he was 'hood slidin' like Bo Duke'. That was because of an old TV show called the 'Duke of Hazzard'. It was kinda hillbilly people & Luke & Bo Duke were young guys always in trouble with the law & Bo would run & slide across his car hood to get to the other side faster, to get away all the time. LOL This is a fun song. 'Drunk on a plane' is another fun one & 'Home' is a touching one.
My dad even had the gun conversation with anyone I brought home 😅I absolutely love this song it reminds me of those careless teenage years when all u wanted was fun😅❤
That was about 20 years ago. I was about 20 living in Texas. It was my theme song back then. Every time I hear it I think about two time just like it back then.
I remember when this came out, it was Dierks' first hit, got him on everyone's radar. That started in Seattle though, one of our local radio guys heard it and started playing it and soon after everyone was playing it.
I remember Going From one car to the other Without slowing down or stopping and I think back. How did I survive how Did any of us? We were definitely the crazy generation
I love this song and dance to it when I do housework; another favourite narrative song is Mark Chestnutt's Wrong Place, Wrong Time - beware brothers-in-law!
Spin about 29 years I can still remember the red top. My girlfriend to be was wearing as I came off the airplane from 29 Palms California to meet her in person for the first time. That’s been over 30 years ago now she still tolerates me. I knew one thing I was thinking she was pretty. I hadn’t seen him anybody with brown eyes in six months or more and let’s go. Have a good time.
He says he was thinking about a little white tank top sitting right there in the middle by him, and thinking about a long kiss. Then he ask, “What was I think in’?”
This was my and my ex's song. I wasn't allowed to date and he was my first boyfriend when I turned 18 and went to college. Mostly because of my dad. That relationship lasted about 2 years too long (4 years total), but we had fun and did stupid stuff and that song really captured the essence of our relationship - at least in the beginning.
Dierks is one of my favorite artists. I saw him live when he first came out and he put on a great show. My favorite country song from him is Sideways. My kids got sick of hearing it when they were young. He also has a bluegrass album that is full of great music.
One absolutely amazing song i want u to listen to is Every Storm Runs Outta Rain by Gary Allan. Its a more sad song about keeping going and good times ahead and the meaning is amazing. Would love to see u try it!
If you don't look back and think what was I thinking your ether haven't smartened up or had a extremely boring childhood. The first one that pops to my head (I was willing to share) is being on a dirt bike in just swimming trunk and a helmet going about 70mph down a back gravel road on my back tire.
The sequel to this song is called How Am I Doing. The woman also returns in "Am I The Only One ", it's his real dog named Jake who had since passed away.

Yes! One of my many favorites by him LOL
I think he was in his mid 20s when this song debuted. So "It" is 45 or so now. 😁
Come on, Dierks. We ALL knew what you were thinking. lol
I love this song and video!
He was thinking with his little head between his legs and not his big head on his shoulders
It’s easy to miss, but I love the line, “I finally got her home at a half past too late” 😂

That was my favorite line too. That line alone made that song and the artist one of my all time favorites.
My dad even had the gun conversation with anyone I brought home 😅I absolutely love this song it reminds me of those careless teenage years when all u wanted was fun😅❤

Love love love Dierks!! Everything he does….. YES! ♥️ And it must’ve been posted 14 years ago. It’s much older than that but still a great one!
Pretty sure I know what he was thinking❤️🤗🐝
Billy Currington Good Directions, I think you will like that one
I remember Going From one car to the other Without slowing down or stopping and I think back. How did I survive how Did any of us? We were definitely the crazy generation
This is one of my favorites- and SO much fun to line dance to. 😊
Love Dierks Bentley!! Please react to their song Sideways. If doesn't get you dancing nothing will. Great reaction!! 🙂
My husband doesn’t like country music unlike me but when this song came out he loved this one. Another great reaction 👍🏻
man, i had a few of these night just like this as a teen on them hot Cali nights
For a more serious Dierks Bentley song check out I Hold On. But this is a great song!
He is often overlooked. Some of his early stuff is really great like the songs I wish it Would Break, Forget about you and Gonna Get There Someday

FYI. That's Deirk's pup. With 24/7..
Go on a trip of Dierks!
Perfect example of
"God gave men two heads. But only enough blood to work one at a time"
R. Williams
Maybe give a listen to Chris Young song " Dringing me lonely" .. awesome country song 🎵 Glad to see you back!!!
"Turnip Greens"
Dirks is great! For a new country song that sticks in your head listen to Austin Browns “what’s hers ain’t mine!!”
Did she get in the car with a white tank top and got out with a red tank top. Where did the white tank top go? Sounds like a good date.
