I can't believe it, but it has been 2 years since the release of Moonrise. It has been so great seeing the reactions and comments everyone had to it and how much of a following it gained. It's been translated into at least 12 languages with videos put up so many others could enjoy it... There's even a fully animated version of "Harmony" on the way!
A lot of people asked about the lyrics in the original video, so to commemorate the anniversary, I thought I would put together a lyric video too... of the original English lyrics I wrote way back in Fall of 2013.
And stay tuned for "Fall of an Empire" coming out in just a few months! It is literally going to be twice as good as Moonrise in every way.

I just recently learned that the beginning lyrics "Dies Irare, Dies Umbra" Mean day of vengeance, day of darkness. Appropriately ominous
more like "day of anger", but yeah, veeeery ominous... and cool!!
it means that its the March of the new lunar republic

I still love this one, and it reminds me why I had a phase obsessed with alicorns.
The reason why Luna rebelled is because she simply wanted attention, mainly from her bigger sister. She never tried to hurt anyone in the first place, she wouldn't confine herself with non-violent ways of dissuading the main 6 in ep2 otherwise. They went out to stop her from getting to her sister, yet she didn't hurt them despite her failure to keep the elements away from them. One thing she wanted is for Celestia to see what the neglection of her sister has done to her. Too bad that people that important can't do anything without sending a shockwave across the whole realm. The point wasn't taken and Celestia continued to neglect her all the way until Starlight showed them both how much they hurting each other.

Also this comes of as a bit of a sequel to Fall of an empire and if so Luna’s potentially already got a lot of baggage and a very justifiable grudge against her sister for what happened with sombra
She tried to get the mane six killed multiple times. Even if you claim it's because of being trapped it still shows that as nightmare moon she will kill. And the fight between her sister could just be drawn out enough in this au for to get to that point very easily.

Moonrise is perfect in many ways. First is a damn good piece of art. Second I can listen to full opera during my trip from office to home.

I work as a housekeeper with the local hotel. Upper management wants our times at 25 minutes per room. So if I start this when I enter a dirty room, and if it ends before I finish the room, I’ll know I went over my time. So I use it as a means of judging how far I should be in each room.
It's weird how well My Little Pony and metal mix. I love them both, but My Little Pony is a show about the nuances of friendship and exudes optimism while metal music is a lot "harder". Yet everything about the royal sisters lends itself really well to metal. Heck, even some of the actual songs from the show sound great as metal songs. I think there is something special in the way these two things juxtapose each other that make them a good fit.
It's the emotion and stories. LOTS of metal, especially symphonic and power metal is about emotional stories. Love, joy, anger, sadness. And MLP hits on all of those at various points, and it has some rich characters that are wonderful to expand stories for. All the things that if you just look at from a slightly different angle, or ask a few follow up questions become a lot more intriguing. Just needs the details fleshed out.

This album has achieved something only another did; gotten me to just sit and listen to it while doing nothing else.

I didn't discover Moonrise until recently, but a lyric video is perfect! Now I can listen to it on repeat here, and memorize the lyrics far easier!

Wow...to be in something like this, it must be great. You guys did so well, and it just makes me smile knowing that we as a community can go anywhere our hearts throw us if we try hard enough.
I was about to cry because of this masterpiece ..the song excellently manged to get in the middle of action pretty well ..the hatred of luna's heart ..the kindness and beauty of celestia...the brutality of war ...the song tells the story by way that you feel the emotions in every part of the song for example on the march of luna, the soldiers of both princess song few seconds to show loyalty to thier majesties and they are fully ready for war (sorry for the long comment but this is the most beautiful masterpiece I have ever heard and seen ..also thanks for lyrics it helped a lot.. skybolt)

If you took actual science to this then Luna, as the sister with power over the night sky and therefore stars, would be WAAAY more powerful than Celestia as she can only control the sun while Luna would control thousands of stars. Hell, if she had control over UY Scuti they'd be screwed.

Firelight Animations is the name of the channel working on it. The creator of that project posts the progres on deviantart. Where his name is Hydrusbeta. He posted an update in October this year saying that he must put both deviantart and youtube on an hiatus for other obligation. He thinks he will be able to continue work on the animation by May next year.
I wish I knew, I really wanted to see that finished... :'(
