- The Voigtlander 35mm f0.9 was Fuji's fastest 50mm equivalent in the 20's, and it did not disappoint. It might just be the best 35mm lens for the Fujifilm X-mount.

watching this at 4am on a 28" widescreen crt, as god intended
The way it was meant to be viewed.
Watching this at 3am printed out on a dot matrix printer, frame by frame.
Kinda jealous… but im watching it on ipad pro with air pod pros in the dark under my blanket.
This is also acceptable ;)@@imlemoni3202
Dat tractor feed tho@@mjodr
The cinematography, the music, and the photography in your videos always make me feel like I'm watching a Blade Runner series. Excellent work!!
duh
This is the only channel for which I JUMP to watch the video as soon as I get the new video notification.
I really appreciate it :D
Same.
I found this channel only a short time ago. I got hooked by it immediately, because i like the style so much. It’s so different, so special. It‘s like a post-apocalyptic horror movie. Since I am exactly into this kind of thing, i enjoy watching these clips and i really admire the cinematic skills and effort to make them. I mean, this guy simply wants to present a lens and creates a short film with an unique look that could easily run in a movie theater. The quality of this channel is absolutely outstanding!
frfrr same😂
@@GxAce Been here from the start. You're the reason I bought an XT3.
Apparently my life is a lie and I’ve been using 1.6 as my crop factor for Fuji. It’s actually 1.52 which gives this lens an equivalent DoF and FoV of a 53.2mm f1.36.
It’s ok … my life is a lie too because I was using 1.5 until I just read it should be 1.52. 😂😘
Yeah 1.6 is mostly canon
One of my firsts was a Canon Rebel XS. Old habits die hard I suppose@@JJARCHIE
@@GxAce yeah me too , my xa7 was all touchscreen - then i switched to the a6400.
Oh man did i get a kick to the gut when i knew it was af points only
I was curious as to why you cropped the apperture as I read that you shouldn't apply a crop factor to the apperture, but I think you're talking about only the DoF and not the amount of light, right? (which I guess would be the T-stop)@@GxAce
forget Christmas, it’s GxAce international holiday
feliz navidad :)
GxAce has redefined review videos. He is a great filmmaker as well as a photographer. Not to mention the sound design and music choices. Masterful. Nobody is doing anything like this anywhere.
I don’t even shoot Fuji anymore but I couldn’t stop watching this. The visuals and sound design of this video are just epic. Well done.
So feel the feelings for me, Fujifilm user. Best videos ❤
every single one of this guy’s videos is a cinematic masterpiece
usually i just watch youtube video on my phone, but whenever i see you've posted something, i usually watch on my 4k monitor with my nice audio gear as well. this shit is art
Lol same boat, just a 2K monitor in my case.
@@virgilhawkins5680
Same, monitor and HD600's.. Same with Posy. Exudes quality in the sound and picture which should be appreciated.
I only wish youtube was higher bitrate to truly show these as they could be.
Those shots you took feel gritty, silky and bring a sense of emotion that is rare these days. Good job and please keep it up. We as photography enthusiasts need to see others at the top of the game...
I always loved that you speak of these things in the past tense, as if you are in some distant dystopian Bladerunner future, melancholicaly longing for a nostalgic past. Its both somber and beautiful.
Incredible as always. You’ve been an inspiration for years and just yesterday I started on pursuing the craft again, amazing work as always dude
Always a treat to watch your videos. The atmosphere, cinematography and sound design always on point!
Excellent and interesting video! I also love the detail with the light flashing in sync with the music at 5:25
Absolutely killer videos! I'd love to see you build a cinema rig someday themed around this atmosphere/world that you've built for your videos. Seems like something that you could have a lot of fun with!
I love the bokeh created by this lens. I feel like it adds more depth, as if the image is almost three-dimensional.
agree. the bokeh stands out as very rich and textured, i’m in love
I continue to be in awe of your talent in cinematography, editing and production design. This was mesmerizing!
Always such a pleasure watching your videos. Every element is executed so masterfully, I always come away from each one with that deep full body warm glow you get in a theatre right at the very end of a great movie.
Gx makes the coolest videos and I always enjoy them no matter what gear they are about. However as I’m a very excited owner of this lens (about a month), I was particularly thrilled to see Gx having uploaded a video about the lens!!! 👍
Holy shit. The cinematography, the soundscape, and the photos themselves… Wow. Huge inspiration.
1:26 fwiw, 7Artisans actually makes a really good 35/0.95 as well.
Indeed! I actually have the photo and cine version of that lens.
Your soundscape is as well designed as the video content!
When a product review hits cinematic awe. As a photographer of 25 years and now a DP of eight years; I absolutely love your art. I have no clue why I haven’t been a Patreon member, gonna make that happen right now. 🙌🏼
Its always a good day when GxAce uploads! Merry Christmas Sir!
I LOVE the fact that you are using the Fuji X-Pro line to demonstrate this demon of a lens! My Fujifilm X-Pro 1 is my go to camera still to this very day! Nothing beats the satisfaction of using the hybrid viewfinder! Plus the shutter sound is to die for and the original X-trans sensor inside the Pro-1 is still unbeaten for film-like quality imo.
i just got it recently to see for myself how that 1st gen x-trans sensor render images . i'd love it if you could share with me your fave recipe for it as much as i know recipes can be subjective i still wanna try the ones from the OG adapters
Yes, fellow X-Pro1 user, especially if you use manual focus lenses, it's still the king! 📸
You took so mutch efford to your videos! I love every single peace of your Art! Greetings from Switzerland!
Absolutely Brilliant. 🙌
gxace, you never fail to make a truly beautiful and immersive bit of film. Top-tier work sir. 👏
Phenomenal work, as always! Your photo composition skills are amazing 🤩
I truly love your content ! You made me want to do more photography stuff! Thank you so much !
PS: The way you tell the story about the lenses and camera each time captures me.
Always love your videos! Very inspiring!
Your set design and general aesthetic is billiant! Only matched by the stellar content! 🎯📸
The only time I get goosebumps from watching a camera/lens review. Dude! Speachless... Every. Single. Time.
LOVE your work man! Keep up the good work! HEAVILY influencing my creative process! Just started my CZcams journey, but hoping I get to your level one-day dude!
Merry Christmas bud, and keep these great videos coming in 2024!
i cant even put it into words how much i love your videos
Best review channel you can find. Every video is so great 😍
The broadcast is sick man. Love it ❤
Beautiful work!!
This channel is a blessing to all Fujifilm shooters 😤
Absolutely love your videos man, keep them coming. Oh and I think I like the previous mask better.. something more satisfying in its design with all the cords connecting to it.
Amazing video as usual
Beautiful images! Thank you!
So few channels focused on visuals use a phone's full aspect ratio. Every time you upload I run and grab my headphones, turn off the lights, and enjoy. I got my first camera because of your channel and absolutely love taking pictures.
I don't even care about the cameras in these videos but I just watch it for the video itself. Amazing work all the time man.
Happy Holidays!
Stay epic, and thank you for your gift of content. ❤️
Loving the new setup.
I feel as if I've just watched a full fledged feature movie! Amazing production!
Excellent video😊!
I was just looking at this lens last week. Excited to see your review
Absolute fire as always 🔥
Beautiful Work as always
brooooooooooooooooooooo
i love your artistry, it is amazing.
I was hoping you'd cover this lens. You did not dissapoint. I'd love to see you cover the other Fuji Voigties (esp. the compact 27mm), but of course, only cover what you're passionate about. We watch all your videos anyway, because regardless of subject matter, they're just that *damn good*. Merry christmas (or or whatever you celebrate, or if not: hope you have a great holiday)!
Yeah I'd like to see that as well. The 27 has tempted me as a small travel option. I've thought about the native Fuji 27 option but in borrowing lens I found the auto focus clunky at best. A manual option might be the way to go, especially since half my shooting is film on Minolta Rokkors at this point; would feel pretty natural.
Legit some of the coolest images I've ever seen in this video, really would love to return to Japan
Gorgeous video, luscious photos.
And I thought my lens was fast... I just got back from a lowlight Christmas lights, portrait shoot with a manual 0.95f 50mm TTArtisan on my Fuji XT-5.
Something even faster... f0.9 and 35mm, I'd say that's a dream for night street photography. That's a Speed Yōkai*!
This flew under my radar. Looking at a late Christmas gift for myself for sure here. :)
Superb quality videos as usual
Your channel is fking awesome, visually superb
I recognize that Cat Street. End graphic in Shibuya! I love the contrasts in that part of Tokyo, especially after dark. Never got tired of wandering around with my Nikon there.
I WANT TO PLAY INSIDE YOUR VIDEO!!! The Cyber Dystopian vibe is amazinggggg
this is fucking awesome please direct a movie i wanna see this universer that you've build on a cinema screen
The sound production is so good
I know nothing about Fuji camera, but I watch it for its sci-fi film look, amazing audio, lighting, and ambience. So unique, especially the "mask" and the vocal distortion effect.
yes! another gxAce Video!!
Thanks again for this awesome episode.
This Nokton seems very interesting thanks to the electronic contacts.
I really love my Mitakon Speedmaster 35mm .95 on my XPRO3, but the build quality is not the best. I had to disassemble it to tighten it because it was wabbling.
By the way even on the fully manual Speedmaster I can zone focus, or manually focus and use focus peaking, and even zoom on the focus area whether in evf mode or hybrid evf. You just have to set up the xpro3 settings right, set it to manual (front dial) and set up the zoom shortcut. It works like a charm on any manual lens.
mitakon speedmaster also dope 35 .9 as well
Fantastic video!
Congrats on the whole aura you've created, which in turn builds your vocal fanbase. I have to admit that I, too, also react when I see your stuff in the YT flow. Oh, it's that guy with the Blade Runner aesthetic. He's always got such great images and a clear opinion on the tech. And here it was also the case. In fact, this may have indirectly helped me with my decision on whether or not to dive (further) into the Fuji x-series. So, thanks for that.
Cool aesthetics, but ultimately, he adds no real new information or data that's useful and comes off a little cringe. I say this as almost every video is the same formulaic content and it's just old at this point....
@@user-ue7sm5ox1q Well, I won't get into whether or not he's "cringe" or delivering the goods; what he is offering is a very specific vibe, a signature approach to the whole "gear talk" genre - and from the looks of his sponsor page, he's found a fanclub. I do sometimes find myself wondering why all the spaceman is necessary, but hey, to each his own. For the actual content, @PetaPixels gets it done.
this is good, thank you!
3:32 the color grading is stunning
I left Fuji 3 years ago and this guy makes me want to go back - damn u GxAce!! 🤣
I don’t even want the lens, but I had to watch the whole video anyway. Always a pleasure to see your mesmerizing visuals and audio. When will you make LUTs available? I’ve been wanting to get some for a long time.
The intro is bone-chilling!
epic... as always🥰
Your videos make me wanna see a whole movie with your aesthetics...
Quality, as always.
Superlative as always. Please please do a video about your film-making at some point. Your set design and lighting is fantastic!
I have the 23mm 1.2 aspherical for the x mount. Really awesome lens, feels just like a modern version of my ltm nokton 50 1.5. If autofocus isnt a must, voigtlanders x mount offerings win generally over fuji in price, and in “character”.
Your movies are always stunning
What Anamorphic lenses do you use? The barrel distortion looks awesome.
Incredible images
I don't even care about cameras and lenses. But i don't think I've missed a single video from this channel in the last year
Is it me or did I just get chills watching a camera lens review ?
I love this channel so much
Another masterpiece
Omly type of video where i get out food to eat just for this
:D
I have never been transported into an alternate reality while watching a product review. Made me feel uneasy and yet hopeful.
Really nice lens. The images feel very old school.
Honestly, that lens looks amazing.
Wonderful
Incredible.
Hi, thank you for the videos what lightroom preset pack did you use in this video.
Great shots. I had an XPro1 then the Xpro2 which was a slippery slope to Leica where I have a fantastic Voigtlander 50mm F1.2 which is a special lens, but I also have the 40mm f1.2 which pairs well with the Xpro, a more compact yet still fast package
I am an absolute beginner in photography. I am and I am not...I have been shooting with a phone for the last decade, apart from a compact camera which I still have. I just bought my first camera with manual settings - sigma dp 2 quattro and I am learning....the feeling of taking a shot is so satisfying sometimes...seeing the beauty and attempting to just grasp it in your own style. I just wanted to tell you that your videos inspire the tits out of me, your style is amazing! Some of your shots just tell a story in such depth. Your videos are beyond good and evil. It is like I am watching Blade Runner 2049.....Thank you!
I don’t know how you do these videos. The production quality is insane…
Best channel on the platform. Just speaking facts
I love your work, a video on the original X pro 1 with your perspective should be pretty interesting
I. LOVE. YOUR. VIDEOS.
Hey I’m interested in buying your Lightroom presets to use with my Fuji xh2, what in camera settings work best with most of your preset packs to get the similar look of your photos?
wait, dumb question, but I have the fuji 35mm on an xpro and it also has focus / aperture rings - doesn't it also communicate with the body? maybe I'm misunderstanding the difference here (besides the glass specs)
The difference is that this lens is manual focus only, no auto focus.
you never disappoint
I don't know cameras, I'm just here for the relaxing, cool video.
