I briefly met and knew Alex Ross from around 1997-2000. Not only is he a great artist he's a super nice guy. No big ego, who actually is true fan. Like most comic fans we grew up reading and loving all these iconic characters/heroes from the Golden, Silver & Bronzeages of comics.
I have to say, that DC Comics Presents with the Legion is a great story...Paul Levitz is a very underrated writer in my opinion.
I agree,plus I love the legion
It’s great to get awesome comic books and some are worth something. But the most valuable thing about this is spending time with your son and there will be memories on video forever that he can see when he is an adult.
Couldn’t agree more Jim, thanks!
That dad joke was Meta!😆
The Alex Ross covers are incredible.
$4 would be a steal.
LOVE the DD and Doctor Strange ones
All of your TMNT books in this vid are original stories, OG Mirage. Gold in my opinion. I recently completed my full run of TMNT Mirage Volume 1. All red turtles are best turtles, end of story!
I love the look of those Alex Ross covers. Nice score!
The Alex Ross covers are awesome. I wish I had jumped on collecting them. That first table would have been fun to dig through.
So many nice books! Great video as always!
I think you said it best at the very end. You got to spend the day with your son. No matter what you picked up and how much you spent. It was worth it. Two weeks ago. I got to spend the day with my son at a small comic show in New Jersey and we had a great time.
The tales of tmnt is just stories that happen behind the scenes of the regular run. That tmnt 11 is part of the original run
That is awesome you were able to find all those timeless Alex Ross at once.
Love the Alex Ross variants!! I have the Storm and the Venom. Solid haul and a fun day out with your son, that’s what it’s all about! Great video
Always enjoy the videos. Comics are the number one I look for at the garage/estate sales followed by vintage toys and video games. I'm finishing up a video where I was digging through a true hoarder house. Found two pretty trashed comics in a room and when I asked if there were more they told me they had BURNED them! It was heart wrenching, makes our job all more important. Got to get out there before other books suffer the same fate.
Alpha Flight 3 is my favorite comic cover of all time.
Great show thanks ❤keep em coming
Fantastic pickups, Mike! Loved Time Bandits as a kid too.
Dang it Mike, I didn't know there was a Time Bandits series ... Now I am going to have to collect them LOL! That was an amazing assortment of comics, looks like it was a lot of fun.
Hey Mike, thanks for another great video, hope all is well for you and your family! Cheers
Love that time bandits book. I saw that in theater when i was 10. Huge Monty Python/ Terry Gilliam fan. Great find
❤Love that Time Bandits! I love all those Marvel adaption move comics from the 80s and can't help picking them up when I see them even if I have them already. Dragon Slayer, the Conan/Sonya, and Raiders movies are just a few that pop into my head.
Alex Ross is amazing. I have some European comics with paint covers. But Alex could show superheroes as normal humans, and that is really difficult
I love the 1st Iron Man Armor Wars run!!! And the issue with all the Iron Men armor has my fave Stealth Armor
Crazy earlyyyy lunch money on a Friday woot woot!!!
Hi Mike, I’ve only watched the first two minutes & I’m already blown away 😮
Haha it was a good start to the flea market
I've never seen that Secret Origins of Spectre and Deadman. Very cool. I love all of those Alex Ross covers. Although I'm not sure about Jack being a Cyclops fan. Just kidding, Jack. Nice TMNT books as well. Great haul, Mike!
Thanks again. Your videos always are entertaining and relaxing for me. 😊
I loved time bandits, along with highlander, terminator, big trouble in little china, escape from new york and so on my favourite 80s movies,i have the whole phalanx covenant run but its in british reprints, lol, ive hundreds of them from the lat😊e 90s to the mid 2000 s,was a great way to catch up on storys i missed from the 80s and early 90s when i wasnt reading comics as li stopped when i started working and was more into drink drugs and women, lol, that was it till i divorced at 30 and got into comics agan, had great fun catching up
The Dare Devil Timeless cover sells for about $30. Favorite pickup was those turtles book!
Some great pick ups Mike, love the look of that Silver Age Flash, very nice 👍
Flash #180 is the 1st appearance of the Samuroids! A nice sticker price on that one of around $100+.
Forget Amethyst. You need to read the Levitz/Giffen Legion of Superheroes runs ESPECIALLY the Darkseid story!
The best thing about this video Mike is that you're sharing your time and passion for the hobby with Jack. The second-best thing: Underdog! One of my favourite cartoons as a child.
Terry Gilliam's movies are truly unique. I used to buy all the Marvel film adaptations so I'm lucky enough to have the Time Bandits comic (by an all-UK creative team too).
Uncanny X-Men #186: Barry Windsor-Smith art, say no more.
The first published Alex Ross work I'm aware of is Terminator: The Burning Earth, a five-issue miniseries for NOW Comics, and the art is - you guessed it - painted. So the guy was doing amazing work from day one.
I love the Alex Ross covers he is one of my favourite artists
Love the meta dad joke. Super fun vid. Cheers!
Nice stack. I got two x-men comics this weekend under 50 because of my store discount. X-men number 105 and 113. Keep on collecting
"Its pure concentrated evil." LOVED Time Bandits.
Hey Mike another good episode of your show I just wanted to comment on the West Coast avengers like I said it was the first run I ever collected and whenever they defeat the villain Hawkeye would bring everybody home and they'd have a big barbecue and it was a running gag throughout the series. I also thought that the West Coast avengers were more family like than the East Coast avengers and there was a first appearance of the Great lake avengers which is a oddball group so I really enjoyed reading that series and I was sad when the 102 issue came out and they canceled them All right have fun looking for comics and putting on your shows.
I started laughing when you set aside that Alph Flight #3 that is one of my favorite covers from Byrne's run on the series and it gives me a chance to type: Did someone say John Byrne?!? Those timeless comics are so awesome!!
Those Alex Ross comics are sweet
Great day at the flea market. Really enjoyed this. 👍
Time Bandits! Great movie!haven't thought of that in years. Have to go watch it now!
Those Alex Ross Hero variants can go from $10-20 a piece so the get the whole stack for $50 plus everything else you got is a great deal to me!
X-men 317 is the first appearance of Blink
My favorite artist of all time for Iron Man was Bob Layton. He was able to bring to life the armor Tony wore. His attention to detail was so good. I was lucky enough to meet Bob at the Rhode Island ComicCon a few years back and bought one of his posters. I wish I had brought along my Marvel Premiere 47 comic book but I forgot to bring it for him to sign. Oh well hopefully he will be around again!
The Lex Luther green silver age comic was pretty cool even though it was shot. It might have been worth picking up for $2 because it's still cheaper than online. Cool finds anyway!
Mike, Alex Ross is one of my favorite artists. Awesome haul.
Awesome comics! That Alpha Flight cover is cool. I wish I were a TMNT fan but I’m not. When I get into a new to me series I go all in and that would make TMNT a tough one to collect.
Very nice pickups! Never seen or heard of Time Bandits, but I do like Monty Python quite bit.
Time Bandit is one of the first movies I would watch every time it aired during HBO’s first run of it back in the day……. An all time fav of mine!!
Nice haul of comics and great to see you and your son out having fun!
I’ve never been a fan of TMNT but have to say every time I see them I’m more interested in them.
I just feel the need to point out...almost 10 000 subscribers and you recently only hit 3000. You are doing great!
Uncanny X-Men 317 is one of those book that I always have to buy any time I see it, 'cause it's Blink's first appearance
Nice pick-up on issue 1 of the West Coast Avengers!
Love the Time Bandits!
Like yourself I love most of Terry Gilliam movies, especially the remake of Baron Munchausen..
Wasn't aware of the Time Bandits comic...
Wish we had markets like this in the UK 🇬🇧 Great video keep up the good work .Massive Respect from Slamcrew North West London 23
More great content. One of my favorite creators on CZcams. Always excited when a new video drops.
Secret origins. Love the Spectre
It’s really cool to see you out enjoying this hobby with your son. I hope when my son is old enough we can do the same.
Time Bandits was awesome. I would have picked that book up too.
2 bucks each?! I would have tried to work a deal on almost all those bronze copper marvel. Some good shit.
That alpha flight cover is awesome. I love negative space covers.
Great video. Great pickups
Time Bandits movie was one of my favorite movies when I was younger, plus I think Andre The Giant was in it. I did no know there was a Time Bandits comic, glad you found it
I loved Time Bandits as a kid. Brings back good memories
Mike pulled out so many comics i owned.....wow.
Nice haul. I really like that Power Man and Iron Fist.
I had the same reaction you did to Power Man and Iron Fist. I loved that cover! Also feel the same about Alex Ross. He makes everything look like it would if it were real. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed with his work.
Nice pick-ups especially for that money. Looks like you and #LunchMite had a fun day out.
TMNT 11 takes place in Northampton! Hard to find for under $20
What a cool day out! 😊
Look at you Mike. Building up your Iron Fist collection every vid. Very cool! Here's some tidbits you may not know about the Power Man & Iron Fist run. If you dig Kurt Busiek he does a couple issues in the 80-90 range and John Byrne comes back from some covers in the 110-120, including the Red Iron Fist stuff.
Those variant covers were neat...understand why pulled them. Wasn't the Flash foe the Silver Samurai ? Didn't look up.
Time Bandits! If I was incharge I would have lasers day one!
Time Bandits nice. Grew up with that movie.
That's a really nice collection of comics you picked up.
That's quite the stash 👍
Yeah, I woulda grabbed that Time Bandits in a New York minute. Nice haul!
Great comics and looks like you and Jack had some great bonding time. Love that Nightcrawler book!
cool haul Mike I love the time bandits and a big TMNT fan
Thanks for sharing
Time Bandits was a staple on HBO in the early eighties and I love it! Good haul!
Hey Mike, great video! Do you think you would ever make a video about some of your favorite comic issues/storylines? In particular, I'd really love to hear what your favorite Nightcrawler stories are!
I’m sure I’ll make a video on that at some point, but one that comes to mind right now is X-men annual 4, it’s a great Nightcrawler story, one of the first ones to highlight his background, and even has Dr Strange in it!
Awesome, thanks!
Those timeless covers are awesome!!!!!! I got the kingpin cover.
You got to spend the day with your son..'nough said.
Big Terry Gilliam fan here. Time Bandits is excellent. So strange and creative. I have that comic adaptation too. It’s pretty. I have a soft start for comic book adaptations of movies. Used to be a big thing in the 80s and 90s back when we had to wait a year for movies to come out on video. Not so much these days. I miss them. There were some great ones.
Ironically i was thinking about getting the 3 issue comic adaptation of darkman. That movie was great 90s cheese in theaters. 8-)
@@Utubesanarc It’s pretty fun. They also did a magazine sized version with all three issues in one book and the art in black and white. I’d recommend that even more than the individual issues.
Been looking for a Alfa #3.😊
Really like the cover 😮
Used to love Time Bandits! 12 Monkeys is my favorite movie by him. Tales of TMNT are not retellings- more like side stories
You know... Alex ross has a villians cover series too...
Yeah I mention that in the video, I like those covers even more
I STILL watch Time Bandit when it comes on. I really enjoyed the movie. 😊
I enjoy your videos very much, that being said sometimes I’m just yelling at the phone as you guys toss aside so many great books in your hunt for keys or #ones. I have never been a speculator collector but respect those who are, (everyone collects differently). There are some gold in those hills that aren’t valuable for anymore than a great reading experience. Keep up the great work.
When I was in grade 1 or grade 2 (1981? 82? whenever it came out) we had a class trip to go see Time Bandits. While the movie isn't extreme or anything, it's probably better suited for kids in their early teens rather than 7 & 8 year olds...more than a few kids found it a little bit too much for them and left the theatre lol

Cool
😮
U should do a video of your back wall
Curious: You like painted cover/art and the JL Dark characters. Do you collect Vertigo titles? Early Vertigo books touched the DCU quite a bit with characters like Golden Age Sandman, Tim Hunter, Scarab, Swamp Thing and more. Also, a lot of early work from people like Grant Morrison. It went a lot more in an extreme Preacher-type direction later but the earlier books are solid reads even if not a ton of collector value
I do have quite a bit of vertigo comics and love those covers
I need one
That adventure time was the first appearance of steven u universe
