- Lighting a scene at night can be very hard, but there's one key that dramatically makes your scene more cinematic...

youre getting so natural in front of the camera i love it
That could be the biggest compliment ever
Brady, the best thing about this video is how natural you are. No attempts to act smart or know-it-all. Plain experimentation, thinking aloud, admitting mistakes, humble. It made this very relatable. Thank you for being such an amazing teacher.
Thanks for another lighting breakdown. I can never see enough of these. They are so inspirational.
Love this! It goes back to the vibe of some of my favorite videos of yours :)
That makes me so happy thank you
Great breakdown! Love these videos.
This was so helpful & interesting, thanks🎉
Great stuff! We've got a similar scene to shoot soon, so this will definitely come in handy. Thanks!
Back/side lighting is exactly what I would have done. Coming from the front looks like you are shining a light on the scene and always looks produced when I see it in films. Good work man! ;)
Only thing I think would have helped a tad would be getting that moonlight a tad bluer. Prob easy to do in post though. Looks great!
Yeah I debated back and forth but wanted a bit less cold, thanks for the CC! Cheers
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much!
I’m glad I can help!!
This is dope Brady! I would have lean the light a little more on the blue side with double diffusion for a soft moonlight to create more of a color contrast with the fire. That’s just my approach though lol, but I think you did a video similar 2 years ago called “How to light a camp fire.” That one in my opinion was more convincing with the moonlight and campfire.
Thank you for this
Nice video and nice hoodie :)
Im happy I stumbled across your channel
Bro is very expensive, please make budget setup 😢 please next video this topic because 80% creator cannot afford it. your knowledge is excellent Please try budget setup 👍❤
This is surprisingly simpler than i thought😊😊
I see you are rocking the latest kits… good job boss..
The 300d on the campfire shot should have come from the other side. Now the shadowside of the face is closest to the fire, which feels unnatural. The tip about lighting the plants/branches with a small led came in clutch!
Excelent Brady!!! I love Fx3!!!
I love mine too
Thanks!!!
@@BradyBessette hey Brady, do you use a denoiser for the 12800 of iso?? I shoot the other day in 12800 and my image look a kind of "noisy"
@LeoArmenta hey Leo! I don’t, but I do add grain that may mask it? Not quite sure. I also expose higher to prevent darker end noise
@@BradyBessette okeeey, thankyou my friend!!!
Love it. Guy on the ronin looking beefy under that lighting haha. 🥩
He sure is hahaha
Thanks for this Brady.
Did you slightly over-expose the 12800 ISO in order to bring it down in Post to reduce the grain? Or did you deploy another approach?
Be good to know.
Thanks for these. Appreciate it.
I would add light behind of subjects that pop up more.
🔥🔥🔥
Fam🫶🏼
Second version was much better for night scene but it's still bit too bright for my taste. Overall great break down. thanks.
Isn't the second base iso 2500? Great work as always! 🙌
Sir..do a video about silhouette lighting
I found u recently, and im enjoying all ur videos, i got a question about night scenes like this, are u sue s.log3?
Hey Brady, appreciate for making another lighting breakdown, especially in the nighttime. Do you think this would also be possible with the fx30 at 2500 iso?
Was thinking the same thing I thought the second base was 2500 🤷
Always enjoy your content mate. If I may, I feel you didn't get the ratio's right. The talent's face in relation to the fire in frame looks too lit. To add to that, you could've used a fixture that has a fire flicker effect to sell it more. (maybe swap for the tube light in the tent). Finally, moonlight doesn't look like it does here. Even the big pros struggle to get it right. I would've def cooled off that 1200D with some gel (with the FX3 you have more than enough exposure if you shoot at 10'000). Just my two cents. Appreciate your work as always! Keep it up
He also needed another moonlight light for the ground between us and the campfire so it looks less like a street lamp shining in just one part of the woods.
And yeah definitely agreed about the firelight closeup. Whatever light is supposed to be inside the tent isn’t as dramatic or bright as the fire so he should have moved the 300c down and behind the tent to replace the tube in candle or fire FX mode which would then come from the same direction as the flames.
I appreciate the CC! Night scenes can be tricky, thank you
what do you have for the blackmagic under heavy concert strobes? haha
Cool
Thanks!!
Nice! Did you randomly ask a bunch of friends to help you shoot a youtube video, or was this part of another project we might see in the future??
So is the 300c strong enough for use with the Light Dome 150? And what about during daytime?
May I ask you what profile you used for these? Everytime I try to film at night (even with lots of light) it always comes with lots of grain and I can only see it in post when I start colorgrading. I'm using an a7iii, tried slog 2 and slog 3 with their minimum ISO. The only way I dont get any grain is by using the standard rec 709 profile. Can someone help me?
Looks very buggy.
What's camping without are little buggy friends.😊
1200D was overkill for this scene! Could have shot at 100 ISO!
I miss judged! Should’ve saved my strength and used a 120d!
😂😂😂@@BradyBessette
Shoot sony use a fast vintage lens. Thank you and goodnight.
