Realistically if the zombies where like the ones from dawn of the dead, Left 4 dead or 28 days later any and all zombies that heard the Tank and gun fire would swarm in form multiple directions.
They would have too many to shoot at and even if they all came from one area like this, somehow never ran out of ammo they'd have no time to sleep before the hrod ran out,by night they'd be screwed and the men would have to get the hell out of there, no matter where the tank goes the infected will follow. constantly.

What gets me is that the zombies/infected/walkers are all male. I guess the developers didn't have the stomach to show a "genuine" necro outbreak.
