Thank you. This joke is a great example of an effective jab. Not a whole lotta power but if you throw it out there and catch people on the half step it can be super effective. Bravo sir. You earned yourself a legitimate lol.
Chael is showing NO MERCY to the college kid he hired to handle his CZcams channel. The Gangster has this kid posting videos at all hours of the night. I don't blame the kid for working extra hard. If he starts slacking, he will feel the wrath of the BIGGEST ARMS IN THE UNIVERSE.
Tony has long arms and big heavy hands, he used to knock people out easy but got to the point to where now he likes to drag the fight out to get in rounds for practice. Tony really is a killer and likes to punish his opponents!
@@JaredTG. I can only "train" for 2 maybe 3 hours. Tony overdoes it with 6, but hey if he can do it, he can do it. His jab stays poppy all 5 rounds. Tony is nutty.

Yeah and he’s a great person. I can’t stand seeing ppl hate on him. It makes no sense to me. I was there when he ko’d Edson and holy shit he blew the roof off the Wells Fargo Center
Yea Chael has a point but he's not entirely right IMO. You can throw a jab with a lot of power if you step into it like GSP not shifting your weight back before moving the front leg but instead loading the front leg and lifting it to make gravity yank your whole bodyweight forward as you throw. It's one of the first things Jack Dempsey writes about in his book
Let's be real, Gaethje is a lightweight who hits like a welterweight. His pace, chin, and heart all follow behind that. When he's able to combine all his attributes and come out firing, I don't think there's another 155 who can stop him. Of course he has been stopped, *but this is a different Justin we are talking about. This is a smarter Justin who realized ONE power shot drops opponents a helluva lot quicker than 25 minutes of peppering shots.*
No one has talked about Justin's ability and willingness to withstand the pain that comes with maintaining his crazy pressure without resetting like everyone else.
His power has changed Chael. Since the Poirier fight to the Vick fight. He has been improving his power so much now that he doesn't have to get in those wars. Love it
You know what I've always wondered about that punch. Didn't have the real venom behind it for a hook. Always thought it was a quick jab, and always shocked to remember it took Robbie completely out before he touches mat Anyone else feel this? Weird punch
What? Lots of fights have been completely changed by jabs. Ended by jabs. Controlled by jabs. Josh Emmett and has dropped people with jabs for example. Kampmann been koed by jabs
No.... not really...Agree with chael on this one. Gsp had and still prob has the best jab in history of mma. Koshchek face and career were over from a single type of punch..
@Liberty or Death LMFAO no he didn't, that was a cross/hook variation, he wasn't even facing him, his side was to him and he threw a Stockon Slap with his hand in a fist.... jesus you fucking noobs are dumb...

Chael, how about a MORATORIUM ON MENTIONING CONOR for 1 month? You can do it, I know you can. If he announces a fight before then, fine. But otherwise, stop bringing him up in 90% of your videos.
But how will we ever find out where Conor Mcgregor fits into all of this then? Wait, that's not right... How will we find out what type of guy Conor is? No, that's not it either... How will we find out just how good Conor Mcgregor is? Yeah, that's the one!
You must only watch the small percentage when he talks bout conor as this guy has videos on e everything. Go check them out and then apologise for challenging the gangster
I agree with Chael bc even Justin said before the fight that he sees cowboy who gets into a "sparring" pace and starts at that pace, and that he doesn't do that or doesn't lets other opponents get into their pace, and he does it by just going in with every calculated attack. So it makes perfect sense.
Justin's jab is awesome though, he blocks the punch being thrown and lands his own. Then he's so accurate he just slays them with the right. It's beautiful 😍
Jabs are great for more than measuring. The jab is a great distraction to land a power punch when throwing combos. You can pop the head, then cross, or use it like Usman did when he knocked out Masvidal. Usman used it to pull Masvidal's guard down then hit him with the power punch.
Agreed. In boxing the jab is more important because it helps you set up other punches because the gloves are so big, it blocks your opponents view. With the smaller gloves in MMA, not so much, hardly really.
Max Holloway vs Edgar - jab all night Khabib vs Al - jab in the later rounds Stipe used his jab well in a ton of fights Dillashaw jabbed the shit out of Cody Aldo kept Edgar at bay with jabs in their second fight Dustin Poirier has a great jab, it's the tool he uses to set uo power strikes Lawler's return and climb to championship has been supported by three things - patience, endurance, and fundamental boxing improvements (jabs)
Trevor Whitman seems like a coach that won’t force his fighter to fight like how he wants them to fight. I stand to correct you great Chael, Alex Caceres broke his hand early in his last fight with Steven Peterson. Controlled the pace and won a decision just by utilising the jab. Very rare this sorta case happens in mma though.
@Liberty or Death Wrestlers in the UFC are fighters, just like the kick boxers and the Muay Thai guys. It doesn't make them less of a fighter if they're mainly a ground fighter
@Liberty or Death Yep, because the floor is hard (concrete), people can gouge your eyes in close range, bite, 12 to 6 elbows, all kind of nasty things you can't do in a MMA fight. With that said, ground and pound and jiu jitsu in real life is probably effective too.
Gaethje seems to be pretty well coached. I would think he would try to mix in the wrestling during a 5 rounder to wear down his opponent if nothing else. Khabib may be too strong for him though as Gaethje is a fairly small 55er and doesn't cut much weight.
A jab is also used to pause the opponent, so you can launch a ko punch or switch position. High skilled guys get jabbed and will instantly use head movements to move out the way.
