- After my engine rebuild, I developed a fault with the oil pressure in my 5.7 Hemi. Today I try to rectify that problem...

I'm starting to think HEMI is just short for HEMIROID cuz they are a pain in the AS$
Very helpful, same exact thing happened to me with my 2011 ram 1500. Psi stuck at 88 with the engine off.
The low gas aborting the remote start is the luck I’d have too 😂
Thank you for doing this video yesterday I went to buy a 1967 Datsun Roadster and I was towing at home with my 2010 1500 ram
I lost my gauge on the oil pressure saying zero oil lamp warning light came on then a few minutes later another warning and then the engine lost power and some popping noise from underneath the car I’m hoping this is the problem
I’m concerned with this popping noise you talk about. When my timing chain snapped I got some popping or banging when I tried to start it as obviously the timing was completely out.
I could kill for some snow, it was 32c today and its only the second day of summer, gonna be a hot one this year I think
Great work on the truck 😁
Life is what happens while we're making Plans.. Good work Dave
Looking good Dave !
It may be cold but at least it wasn’t snowing.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Good job as always sucks to work in the cold and snow. Keep pickin away
Thank you for getting gas, that gage level would cost me a sleepless night. 😆
It only came on the night before when I got home. Good for another 80 miles, lol.
First thing to check with the evap emission fault is the gas cap. Don't know if it being really low on gas would trip that fault if something was borderline.
Before the timing chain "incident" I did have the gas cap warning light on. That started after I replaced the gas tank, so I'm fairly sure what needs fixed down there.
😂“Truck’s done”😂
I just got the p0522 code on my 2011 ram laramie 5.7 4x4 175k miles, my oil level is fine, my oil pressure is normal. After all my research and watching this vlog, I’m convinced its my sensor.
I get nuts with my check engine light being on, it irritates the crap outta me.
I once got this code with having low quality oil. These engine can be very fussy about what you put in them.
@@ScottRods I hope its not my oil, I just changed it about 6 weeks ago, I use 5W-20 by Mobile 1 full synthetic, so I can get 10 thousand miles between each change, roughly about 5-6 months.
I literally got the code the next day after changing my battery. I had to jump start my truck two days in a row, so I went to my local AutoZone and they put the scan tool on my battery and said one of my cells was dead. So I Changed the battery, I drove it a few places that same day, later that day I came home and parked it.
The next day I start it up, and the check engine light comes on, I hate that damn light, it makes my eye twitch lol. So I check my truck with my scanner, and the p0522 code comes up, I write it down, and clear the code, well as soon as I start it back up,….. BAMM the code comes up again, I try and clear it, and it pops up again. I did that 5-6 times, and the code keeps coming up immediately .
Im not hearing any abnormal noises, Im not seeing anything wrong with my pressure on the dash gage, and my oil level is right where its supposed to be, and the truck runs fine like it usually does. I dont know…… Im fishing for answers, but after watching your video, Im pretty convinced its the sensor, not sending the right signal to my engine control module. Hopefully thats the problem.
Thanks for responding, a lot of DYI youtube pages never respond. I appreciate it.
@@TheStudderman Sounds like you've done everything right. Generally when there's an electrical engine fault, the light won't come on till it has been triggered a number of times, but if that sensor is dead it might explain why it's more immediate.
Just my theory, but hopefully that's all it is.
@@ScottRods Well, The sensor was exactly what was wrong, I just got done installing the new one and I reset the code. I started the truck and it didn’t come back.
Before I changed it, I experienced the same exact thing you did. When my truck was off my pressure was in the 90s. Now when the truck is off its zero.
Thanks for your video and explanation. It definitely helped me! Happy Thanksgiving !!
@@TheStudderman Fantastic! Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
It's windy here but 20c lol oh it's summer time to 😂
You did a great job of making that look difficult. Should have added a few grunts and groans and some colorful language just for fun. Enjoy all your videos
Yeah, I know, lol. If I had that 27mm socket it would have been easy.
so does the 2010 dodge rams with the 4.7 have a oil pressure switch and sending unit
Andrew you're the man
I'll let "Andrew" know, hehehe
Nice video, looks cold there. It's cold here in northwest North Carolina, USA too. Brrrrrr!
The cold only hit me towards the end, then I got the shivers.
Whew hooo!!!! Happy dance time!!!!!
I have a 2010 ram also and my oil needle is stuck in the same exact position and my pressure is reading down to 1 or zero psi when at idle sometimes...what did you do to fix it? Did the sender unit work? Nevermind...I just finished the whole video haha
Was that sensor all the way against the block?
Oil didn't spill out the first time cause the truck was on that incline fromt he drive way. 2nd time you were further up driveway so truck was at a more level stance
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi. Want to upgrade the cam and lifters, any suggestions on brands and where to order them?
Sorry bud, I can barely afford stock, never looked into anything of quality, lol.
Scott, If its like a Ford, it is just an idiot light switch connected to the "gauge". over a couple of pounds .75 sweep is what you get.
On my ram my pressure is reading 24 I just replaced oil and better filter I need help
It could just be a bad sensor.
Same code thrown on my Hemi Goat
Great job Dave, I was wondering if you have a Princess Auto or Harbor Freight Tools, near you. Because I looked up a 27mm deep socket at Princess Auto and it was only $4.43. And I know here in the states you a set of 12 deep IMPACT sockets for $19.99. I know because I am cheap and have bought 2 sets. Both in metric and standard. Also, did you remember to put tephlon on the new switch threads. I would hate to see you have a leak, because of something like that. Thank you for entertaining us
Thanks David. Can't believe it was that cheap, darn it, lol. Yes, the new sender was pre-sealer'd.
Put in a manual Guage. Get it from the top scotty. We bit easier lad. Lol
how's the truck running at 291k km?
Perfect thanks.
Can u still drive it on a faulty sensor
I have found out recently that if the ECU detects a fault, it might throw it into limp home mode, even if there is no actual mechanical fault. This is an old video now. I just replaced my ECU because it was detecting a misfire. New ECU does not detect that fault and the truck drives fine.
Hey Dave. Shit, You just reminded me of your live stream. I guess it is over now. When did you shoot this video? Is that lasts week snow, or is that a new storm? Thanks for sharing. I'm back. Did you say NEXT WEEK DEC. 7th right?👍👍🍁
Yes, Dec 7th is next stream. The second half of this video was made today (Tuesday 1st December)
@@ScottRods So we have snow on the way then? Thanks
@@AndysDogHouse I'm surprised it hasn't hit you. Started last night, snowed all day.
@@ScottRods My Grandson just came home from Pembroke (60km) north of here and they got 3 inches of snow. We still have ZERO. We got 10 INCHES LAST WEEK. It's been raining here for 3-4 days now.
It´s winter here as well Dave...and I´m working outside today on my Landrover...but it´s sunny and 19c here in Portugal...thats why I moved here from Edinburgh...lol
Good choice Rob. My Mum is in Spain over Winter, climate is awesome there.
11 foot pounds of torque per dodge
