Lions rule the African savanna in The Lion King, which welcomes Donald Glover (Atlanta, Solo: A Star Wars Story) as future king Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Dreamgirls, Lemonade visual album) as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala, and James Earl Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Field of Dreams) as Simba’s wise and loving father, Mufasa, reprising his iconic performance from Disney’s 1994 animated classic. Chiwetel Ejiofor (Twelve Years a Slave, Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange) was called on to portray Simba’s villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard (Juanita, Marvel’s Luke Cage) portrays Simba’s no-nonsense mother, Sarabi. JD McCrary (OWN’s Tyler Perry’s The Paynes, Apple’s Vital Signs) fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can’t wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph (NBC’s Hairspray Live, Broadway’s The Lion King) brings tough cub Young Nala to life.
Every kingdom comes with a trustworthy advisor or two. John Kani (Coriolanus, Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War) was cast as the wise baboon Rafiki, and John Oliver (HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) was tapped as hornbill Zazu, Mufasa’s loyal confidant. When Simba goes into exile, he relies on two newfound friends-Seth Rogen (Sausage Party, Neighbors) lends his comedic chops to naïve warthog Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, FX’s American Horror Story) joins the cast as know-it-all meerkat Timon.
From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Me too. I also really wished Jeremy Irons came back as Scar. However the new voice actor for Scar was also pretty amazing that I started to not mind so much. He still really made sound Scar cold and menacing, except without the comedian effect. Because I feel like Jeremy Irons actually put a slight comedian effect on the character of Scar (not that it was a bad thing).

Olly the Cat Alfre Woodard is one of the most talented and decorated actresses in the game. Very much a real life Queen.
My favourite character and one of my favourite actresses, as much as i adored Madge Sinclairs' commanding voice, Alfre has done her role justice.

The young simba's voice was so beautiful it almost made me cry. he really killed it!! The young nala too.. they were robbed for an overall heartless remake.
I agree. The voice acting was fantastic. But the writing was not. So many lines were changed and not for the better. I’m fine with rewording and changing but often times the changes left out a lot of heart or seemed pointless, in my opinion. For example, in the pivotal scene where Simba decides to go back had changed for the worst. In the original Rafiki replies to Simba, “Sure I do. You’re Mufasa’s boy!” and then goes on singing in his African language. In this new one he says, “I held Mufasa’s boy” and babbles on. It doesn’t have the same impact. That’s just one example of many. And then there’s the character animation. It’s beautiful visually but lacking in expression. The scene where Nala and Simba fall in love is quite bland compared to the original.
Jesus, for Zazu they even got a Voice Actor with a really nose similarity to the character...
Well, John Oliver did do voice acting in The Smurf Movie, so it added to his experience ...

Why are there people who are so stuck to the past... can't even open up to change. And I personally dont think every Disney movie really needs a remake and I would like Disney to make completely new stories out of scratch, but I'm still looking forward to this movie. The more diverse cast, new potential scenes not in the original movie, new songs, and the graphics looks astonishing... real people worked their ass off and I don't believe that they did all this with less of a will than the first movie! They clearly put their heart and soul into this remake and it's amazing!! 😊

You don't just put a basic idea into a computer, wait awhile, and expect grandiose results. We mustn't take for granted all the time and effort the people at the Moving Picture Company put into this. There are environment artists, character directors, groom artists, keyframe animators, virtual production assistants, etc. They played the biggest part in making this new Lion King come to life, and though it may not meet expectations for fans of the original, it was beautifully crafted and these awesome movies will just get better as time goes on and more feedback is given.

He is a good actor but I'm not digging him for scar, he sounds too classy actually at times a bit like James earl Jones, not menacing enough for me, Jeremy irons voice as scar is 100% the best. This version is a close second
