I literally cried when I was just watching the podcast episode as a regular viewer and got a mention myself 😂 the first ever podcast I found out about and my gateway to the knitting community via the ‘Podcasters attending..’ section of the Perth yarn festival website last year, I owe my deep dive into this hobby to you! So thank you for that, and also thank you for the mention! 🎉
I didn't realize how much I liked that movie until I hear your names for the color ways and my mind just goes off on minutes of stored dialogue. I'm sad the pride and prejudice colors are all done. That was awesome. Maybe next year the dyer will collaborate with you and they can come named. Or we can just do it this way again. That was so much fun.
Omg Rebecca, I so deeply in love with the untitled cable pullover. In that crisp cream is just *chefs*kiss* I’m truly holding back from casting on a different cable pullover in a similar color because I will wait for this test knit 🧶 (take your time because I’m still waffling between yarn choices!) Also, I have a feeling I’m not the only one who you inspired to start watching the 1995 pride and prejudice this weekend 😉 It’s SO good!

That full skein could be “Utterly Besotted” I love the muted greens and creams and it really reminds me of when he confesses his love in the rain. Also, Happy Holidays! Hope it’s amazing with your family!
My go to authors are Alanea Alder her Bewitched and Bewildered series is PNR and funny AF. Bianca D’Arc or Dana Marie Bell are great re-reads for me all the time. If you want a book series that is fantasy and romance but not any sex scenes I’d really recommend Audrey Faye The Alpha series. It’s up to 10 books and they’re all written in first person (which I hate but her’s are amazing). Very good series but it does deal with recovering from trauma. So good though!!

I definitely have some book recommendations for you. My preferences are almost exactly like yours so you may have already read these but if you haven’t I HIGHLY recommend Elise Kova. My favorites from her are the:

I’m drawn to fantasy romance that’s heavy with character development. If you have any you can recommend I would be so very grateful. I always struggle to find books that focus more on the characters (verses world building) so I end up re-reading the same books over and over again, lol.

In a “lucky bag” I got from my lys, I received 3 balls of fluffy glittery blue yarn. I didn’t know what to do with it. Fast forward 24h and I see your Instagram reel with your glittery Tolsta! 8 days later I have a beautiful sweater just in time for New Year’s Eve! It so great!

What a great episode Rebecca. Your knits and swatches are lovely. I like that you are conscious of affordability when you suggest yarns for your projects and that you explore various yarns + share reviews of those.
I can relate to trying to fit all the things in, and I am interested in hearing more about how you have learned to read and knit at the same time. So far I have been able to watch podcasts and knit and listen to books on audible while knitting and would welcome hearing any tips for reading an actual book while knitting. That said, if you read books on your kindle or other e-reader that may be the key.

What a marvellous cable sweater . I’m busy finishing 4 Aran Clan cable sweaters for our kids and their partners and am no where near tired of cables. Definitely a cardigan for me!

I think the big skein is based on the misty morning colours when Lizzy and Mr. Darcy meet after the aunt comes to the house. I'd call it "You have bewitched me, body and soul"

You should definitely check out Tamora Pierce books, especially her Tortall series. Her early books lean a bit more young adult, but age up in content as the characters do. She's something of a predecessor to authors like Sarah J Maas.

The full skein of the 2005 P&P is gorgeous! I would call that one Longbourn because it feels like all the Bennets rolled into one colourway and the cozy vibes of the skein remind me of how cozy and lived in their home feels like. The best fantasy romance I read this year was The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent, my favourite contemporary romance was Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon, and I had a lot of fun reading The Murder of Mr. Wickham by Claudia Grey (Jane Austen characters come together for a house party that becomes a murder mystery!).

I think the name “Incandescently Happy” would fit that last skein of yarn your received. I love both the 1995 and 2005 versions of P&P. My other favorite Jane Austen film is Persuasion… *chefs kiss* I’m curious about the orange color your using for your color work sweater. I know you have Drops Daisy listed for the yarn but not the name. That color is perfect for a gift knit for friend who’s college uses that orange. (Never mind you mentioned the colors in one of your most recent videos).

Try the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann. She is a pretty good writer, especially for the genre. I’ve read about 15 of them and they have great narrators for the audiobooks. I love fantasy romance but I’ll have to think to remember some of the great books I’ve read

I really want the cable sweater. I did think about applying as test knitter. But i keep having problems with my shoulder which is bloody annoying and i wouldn’t want to not meet the deadline. So i have to be patient and wait for pattern release.
That sandes fluffy mohair is gorgeous. Not used it but i definitely want it. Especially that blue 😍.

I just started the Edens series based on your recommendation on insta. I don't think I've read a romance novel since I was a teenager ( about 20 years ago), and since I read a lot of academic stuff for work, I rarely read for leisure. But I figured for Christmas I'll buy a romance book for some light reading and I'm HOOKED! I read the first 60 pages of Indigo Ridge in one sitting and now I'm at the point where I kinda want to save it and not read it all in one go. 😂 I don't think that happened to me since reading Harry Potter, so thank you very much for your recommendation. ;)

I love the 2005 P&P so much- I don’t think I’ve watched it as much as you but I would say I’m a close second! The first thing that popped into my mind for a colorway name when you showed the full skein was “‘My Pearl’ for Sundays”. I enjoyed all your names and living vicariously through your opening of the advent!
For book recs: I recently discovered Elliot Brooks on CZcams and she has so many great videos and suggestions for fantasy and romantasy books- I’ve recently gotten into that genre too.

For contemporary romance may I recommend Sarina Bowen's True North series. It's about a rural community in vermont. The first book in the series takes place largely on an organic apple orchard and the food descriptions are nearly as good as the romance. And one of the later novels actually involves a lot of knitting and a bunch of references to the sweater curse!d
Hey Rebecca thank you for keeping me company while I frantically crochet the last pieces of a dog to gift my sister tonight. I have some book recommendations, I also love Sarah J Maas and romantasy so maybe you also like these ones. City of brass by S.A. Chakraborty a more middle eastern fantasy, the fae guardians series by Lana Pecherczyk. The first one is called The longing of the lone wolf, these ones are fae romantasy with a faded mate trope with humans from our time. Out on a limb by Hannah bonam young, a romance with surprise pregnancy but very beautifully written.

I really really love the cable sweater! Overkill heck no. I would love to knit this in a vest/pullover, with the round neck. I would love to make it in a vintage 40's length. Also someone commented about your lipstick, but the orangey color isn't your best, at least on screen. It overpowers you. I don't know if you ever had your colors done but its well worth getting it figure out. Are you warm or cool? I had mine done in the 80's and I'm a summer. Carol Brailey, I think I spelled it right, is on CZcams and she seams to get it right. I love the black sparkle tee you have on. That color would leave me to believe your a winter palette 🎨
I may o may not need to test knit the cabled cardigan. Am I mad for wanting to make a black one?

- The Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh (about 20 books at this point.)
- Lucinda Brant’s novels (historical romance, some of them get a bit dark in plot, but not the romance.)
