First, it shows how even experts can make mistakes and have lapses in judgement resulting in getting bitten. Second, it shows just how serious a venomous snake's bite is, which a lot of people seem to take for granted. People don't really tend to think of the damage the venom can do to you, even if you get anti-venom as fast as humanly possible. What did they say in the video, it took about 30 minutes to administer the anti-venom? And it still ate a fucking golf ball sized hole straight through his stomach. Imagine being out there in the middle of nowhere, or in any place really where you can't immediately be at a hospital within the hour, and taking a bite like that... Unless you had a satellite phone to call for help, or other people with you who could get you to the hospital after you became incapacitated, you'd be a dead man. And even if everything goes right and you get to the hospital quick, there can still be complications from the nerve or tissue damage like in this case! As someone who absolutely loves snakes and has 3 for pets, I always try to come back to this video for a reminder of why I shouldn't try to catch venomous snakes I've come across in the wild. There have been a few instances (Copperheads) where I really felt like I could catch it without putting myself in any danger, but then I think back to this video and cut that shit out immediately!

Accidents like that are very rare and to keep hundred of thousands of dollars worth of anti venom in a nearby cooling facility is just not viable.
