it was only mids, no crunch at all, and definitely not aggressive. The final tone had bass and highs, ie classic metal tone. Unless you think that Kill 'em All has more aggressive tone than puppets, then yes.
Because you just can tell how it sounded in the room from a video taken on the phone.

God i wish they had used more mid freqs or a bit overdrive in their both live and ablum tones. The sound is still heard huge but not meaty. It never be like in 89 but it shouldnt be as well. But a bit push a bit gain couls be enough

Their live tone is not very good. Those AxeFX solid state amps ain’t cutting it. They have the money, just use tubes amps like they used to. Sounds 1000 times better.
They seem to be ok with sacrificing quality for convenience of the AxeFX. Go listen to S&M1 and 2, the guitar sound difference is insane. Frankly the digital stuff does not compare imo.
It might or might not be about AxeFX. Could very well be their choice to sound like that... Pretty sure AxeFX and similar products can offer solid tones if wanted. 'Cos they could also choose to sound amazing on albums, but instead their guitars been sounding like crap ever since St Anger!
Theres barely any difference. Also touring with tube amps is a MAJOR pain in the ass. Not just from a financial standpoint. Digital is on one level with real amps now
