2024 Solar Eclipse: Totality Begins!

The Great North American Eclipse passed through Maine on April 8, 2024, and my husband, my sister-in-law and I headed north to the rural town of Patten to see it. We watched in awe as the paths of the sun and the moon (as seen from our location) converged for a brief moment in time.
This video shows the last two minutes before totality, and then about a minute of the total eclipse in all its glory. My husband, who shot this video, was holding a solar filter loosely over the lens of his camera so he could quickly pull it aside when the moon completely blocked the sun, which explains why the video went from dark to light a few times before totality actually began. Note: The camera's microphone picked up the stiff winds that swept through the region as day turned to night and temperatures quickly dropped.
