Started work there like thousands like me at 14 my Grandmother worked there also . So many memories thank you for sharing. It was the heart beat and bread basket of the North side and whole City . Cork is the poorer for its departure . 🌹
What a story I love the banter of the people who worked in the big factory’s They were assume people and they were all very happy not like the factory’s of today - To see the factory’s on fire broke the people’s heart- That was very sad - All the good people who stood together all their lives and then everything was brunt- Love the way they worked together and marrying the child hood friends who were gob smacked at the massive fire at the sunbeam)) God bless each and every one of ya!!
I don't think I knew where it actually was. My oldest sister worked there. We lived off of Shandon Stret. I was 7 years younger. I left Cork on my own in 1977. Was it closed in 1990 and the building caught fire in 2003? I wasn't very clear on that.

My aunt,Mary Fogarty from Cobh started there as a young girl. She worked there until she retired.
Knew many people who passed through these gates, and in this film. This presents so many memories of life in Cork
