  • In this video I walk you through our favourite training exercise for teaching your dog to walk to heel. Teaching your dog to walk to heel is challenging, and you need to take your time.
I love using this training exercise to teach our Labrador retriever puppy how to walk to heel. We use this at the start of a walk or when she doesn't have her listening ears on. Let us know if this training has helped.

You should do this with a dog that has never walked a heel before.

haha I know! I wish I had access to one. My eldest did such a good job teaching Poppy that it is actually quite hard to demonstrate with her. What type of do do you have?

I recently adopted a Black Lab and she walks at my side while on the leash, but once she sees another dog or a human she can think of nothing but getting to them. How do I calm her down?

We were in the exact same position with Poppy. She would be soooo calm in the house and on walks... but then see a dog and get hyper focused. We just made sure we continued to exposure her to these situations and not walk the other way or cross the road otherwise they can sense your concern. Maybe try favourite treat or toy to distract and keep attention but still expose the dog to the situation of being near the other dog. Let me know if that makes any sense? Cheers, Rees

walked once or twice? Buddy, atleast 3 times... 1 shorter walk in the morning, a medium/long walk in the middle of the day and a shorter one in the evening.
