- There is something really interesting about the 3D Super Mario series, and that is, that the different 3D Super Mario games don’t have much in common with each other. All the Super Mario games use the same enemies, and obstacles and characters and whatnot, but the gameplay in the 3D Super Mario games dramatically changes from one to the next.
Yet, all of them are highly critically acclaimed games, and all the games are among the best selling games on their nintendo console. This, kind of leaves us with a question? What wizardry did nintendo practice to make all those games so successful, while making all of them so different? Well, in this video we are going to investigate this question, we are going to take a look at the very first world of all the 3D Super Mario games, as a stand in for the whole game, we will discuss, how nintendo evolved the series, what new ideas nintendo tried, what worked, where they failed, and we will try to find out why all the 3D Super Mario games are so different.

You mention Mario games being used to sell a console's selling points and for GameCube and Sunshine you just say that it was a more powerful console. True, but I also think the GameCube really excelled at water textures, and I think that's why so many GameCube games go hard on watery and aquatic environments. That's why they decided Mario should go to a tropical environment and probably why Wind Waker was so heavily ocean-based. At least, assuming my interpretation is correct, that would make sense to me.

I'd like to see a review of all the final 3D levels. They're the final exams of their respective games, and it would be an interesting way to analyze how each game cranks up the difficulty in comparison to the first levels.

I never really thought about how Marios movement-options limit level design, but it makes sense. It's hard to create a challenge for a character that has too many moves to deal with said challenge.

I really loved 3D World. I never played 3D Land and I had a blast playing 3D World in local co op. In fact I think it's one of the best local co op games of the last decade, it's really fun.

This got recommended to me. I see everyone being long-time fans, and I'm not. So if the following paragraph is straightforward to you, great! We share an opinion.
I like him being honest about which games he doesn't like, and he gives clear descriptions of why he doesn't. Furthermore, he is mostly descriptive and only prescriptive in a constructive manner. That's a habit that a lot of CZcamsrs really need (i.e. all of them).
And also, he doesn't stuff silent thinking time with tons of ‘eehh’s. That is very convenient, since it leaves a little break in the constant speech input while watching the video.

You say "other youtubers" in this context, as though it's a show of how much better Ceave is over said "other youtubers" just for doing what he did... Don't get me wrong, I love Ceave, but not your comment. There's nothing wrong with making a separate video talking about where they have been all this time. If Ceave chose to do this, then who cares, really? Making a separate video would help let people know where he's been without having to skip to the end of another video, but in the end, it doesn't really matter. I assume that he just didn't want to make a big deal of it is all. But to make it sound like these "other youtubers" (talk about a broad group), are using the situation to milk their audience... Damn, the pessimism.

In Mario Galaxy 1&2 we have the long jump, as well as the backflip and wall jump + the spin which i believe is quite of a movement for a character.

There have been tons of things going on in my life the last year. A couple of family things, a couple of things regarding people close to me, and of course: girlz stuff.

So glad to see you uploading again! But I'm glad you decided to take a break and focus on other things when you needed to. Burnout is inevitable, as well as things happening outside of CZcams that require attention and time, and I would always rather people take their time rather than forcing themselves to make videos through everything. It makes you happier, videos are always better when the content creator really has the inspiration and time for it, so the fans will be happier as well!
