A lot of doctors don't like to diagnose so young as a toddler is still learning skills like speech, asking for help etc. Most children don't get diagnosed until they are in school because, as you said, things can change quickly. It doesn't matter what level Emma is, at the end of the day she is her own beautiful person ❤

My daughter had the EXACT same issues as Emma. Our stories are almost the same. My daughter is now 5. As she got older her symptoms started to diminish everywhere!!! Her verbal stim will go away as she gets more words so get ready when she starts talking they never stop lol!! I absolutely think they misdiagnosed her, she reminds me of my level one daughter. I’m excited for you guys to see her gifts!

When I was 2 I didn’t respond to my name and I said my first word around that time (Ik it’s so late) didn’t like clothes kept throwing them but the when I was 4 and a half I was already reading (I liked reading and I red A LOT of books) and could talk in 2 languages. Diagnosing a kid with autism THAT early is not gonna be entirely true, toddlers are still learning to talk.

Thanks for the video! Yes the support level can defiantly change. My son was diagnosed a level 3 at 2.5 yrs old and now at 3.6 he is reading, spelling and saying functional sentences and conversing with us. I feel like all the ASD symptoms are gone and I will be getting a new assessment in a couple years. This boy was even potty trained in 45 days (day and night) while he was non verbal. I have a feeling he was misdiagnosed as we also have ADHD in our immediate family.

Yes consistency is key. You have to set a timer and take them every 30-60 mins. Documenting every time until you can anticipate when she’ll have to go. In 2 weeks he learned the word “potty” and in 3 weeks he was telling us when he had to go. But I was with him 24/7 and was very consistent. We even took the potty to clinic daily.

Update: he is 4.2 now and fully conversational. Just last week he went up to 3 kids he didn’t know on the playground and said “Hey guys, wanna play with me?”. ABA is telling me he won’t need it much longer and are recommending social groups next. At this rate I don’t think he’ll need that either! I just enrolled him in a summer camp with typical kids to see how it goes…I’m still concerned with the eloping and thinking it’s a game though!

I quite honestly find it wildly inappropriate that what ever this is is targeting parents on different Autism channels. @HollySweden these messages are everywhere in my channel and everyone else’s, specifically replying to people who sound like they are struggling, and it’s predatory af.
For any parent seeing this, do not ever purchase random herbs or detoxes claiming to “fix” Autism. That is not how it works, and even if it was, you certainly will not find your answer on a CZcams comment.

That’s great news about little Emma she’s beautiful, hope she keeps up the good work, she’s improving, My Daughter is level 3 Autism and has been from 2 years old , I’ve always found her challenging , she has never spoken, Shireen is now 30 years old but going on 3 , it’s so hard for us, Shireen is now in supportive living and has been there for the last 11 years , she has 24 hour care 7 days per week, she stims a lot, sits by herself drinks coffee coke and tea, she never sleeps well, she self harms and has epilepsy, I’m a good person and my husband and we feel Shireen was robbed of her life, it’s not fair, shireen has pecs which means she will eat coffee or hot chocolate out of jars, our kitchen cupboards are locked and we have to keep our kitchen door locked, when she comes home to stay with us, she never sleeps it’s rare , I don’t know how she does it, we love her but find the Autism very challenging, I always pray to god he will help her but it never happens that’s not to say I’ll keep trying, I’d do anything to make the Autism go away but I don’t know how to unlock this challenging disability, Hope Emma keeps up her good work and keeps don’t think she has level 3 Autism

In the UK we do not have levels. We just get an overall diagnosis of autism with sensory differences. They even got rid of the high functioning, which is good because literally when you meet one person with autism you just meet one person. I agree with most comments it changes day to day week to week how they present in terms of stimming and communication. My little boy can talk but chooses to use limited speech and prefers to use verbal stims.

You guys are great parents ❤️ I like how you guys didn’t get down & instead thought of it as being a marvelous thing cause it’s true they give them more attention and help. Wishing the best for little Emma she’s a beautiful girl 💖 (I literally had been asking his pediatrician for a referral so he could be evaluated for ASD but they didn’t listen to me & I would get so upset cause deep down I knew that autism was part of his life until he was 3 that I asked a different pediatrician to put him on speech therapy and to refer him for a autism test he only referred him to speech therapy we waited half of year for him to receive the speech therapies & the therapist noticed autism signs and asked me if I was ok with considering an evaluation I said yes! I’ve been asking for it and they just won’t listen to me she helped me reached his currently ped he finally put the referral we waited a year but he was finally evaluated & the Dr spent 3 hours evaluating him he’s currently receiving speech therapy and on the waiting list for occupational therapy Would you recommend ABA? I’ve overthinking it a lot just because I have read a lot of bad reviews about it like being too stressful & sometimes including mistreatment.. But your videos about ABA are somewhat helping me to make a decision hopefully he will get approved and hoping that the therapies will be done at home so that I can see what’s going on

The international guidelines suggest around 18 months they can be diagnosed. I think they know what they are talking about... Some/most Autism Drs can see it much much earlier than this.
Also if you are a person that does not know much about it or have not seen it before you wouldn't know what to look for so this is why most little ones are not dignosed til a later age. I believe the earlier the better for the child.

I'm working with autistic kids and I know a child with a similar story. He was diagnosed level 3 at the age of 3 yrs old mostly because he was non verbal and very stimmy. But that child always has had good eye contact and social skills weren't that delayed if you ask me, and he was very easy going, no meltdown and potty trained!! Still, he got the level 3.
His family and myself couldn't believe he was level 3. Now, that child is 6, he has been re-assessed and scored level 2! He can speak now but not completely conversational, he can ask for his needs and answer to questions. His stimming have decreased a little bit. I think those kids who show so much progress will get to the level 1, over time. From what I see on that video, I don't think your child is level 3 and I don't think she is level 1 either yet but level 2 seems to be the most accurate. But of course, I can't diagnose a child based on a video. Psychologist can have a hard time with the level of asd because some kids progress and other don't, so they calculate the level in function of what they see during the assessment only and some kids are just not doing well with assessments but then, at school, they are doing pretty well.

I am a woman with lvl 1 and it took till i was 22 to get diagnosed.
I dont really like term HFA or anything that talks about level of functioning, because your level of functioning is a function of trauma, comorbidities, etc and not just the autism severity itself.
Even though im above average verbal ability and above average intelligence, trauma, and comorbidities have made my level of functioning not high, im essentially in burnout, as just getting diagnosed was incredibly tiring due to enormous medical sexism hurdles for women with lvl 1

I would like to point out that the levels are supposed to indicate how much support the autistic individual needs, and that it can change overtime, it's fluid. If a child on level 1 develops depression/general anxiety (which is common comorbidity) during puberty, they most likely will drop to 2, etc. Some children can forget already learnt skills, or progressively loose motor skills (formally Rett's syndrome). She may have been level three when she got evaluated, but with the support she's been given she improved quickly.

In different areas for different children of course. My son verbal stim he will start singing the ABCs then he will start spelling words like bowling Lanes, bowlero, curious George Sarasota ect.(bowling and curious George or his favorite things in the world) He's in kindergarten!! Hi. Been watching your channel for a month. We saw a developmental psychologist and they wanted to diagnosis our child as level 2 ( through ZOOM! 😒🙄) thats right after they made the suggestion of clonidine ( for the adhd) . Hes not even 2! My husband and I had a hard time because they cant tell it being adhd vs autism. His speech therapist x2 keep saying no they dont see it , they dont think aba therapy is needed. He has very little physical manifestations of stimming..hes busy so its the joint attention, social cues , and interactive play hes missing..I know there are levels, we are continuing with therapies but refuse the diagnosis until hes older (hes 20 months now) . Hes already doing more now than 6 months ago. Every time I hear the word evaluation I want to scream!!!!! 😆 ill have to look thru but I would love some insight into her dads thoughts. My husband right now is very " were gonna beat this.... why are they trying to put this on you...everything will be fine once hes in sports/school....disciplined..." anywho. We keep with the therapies because I dont ever want to think I didn't do enough to help. We also have to be our childs advocate, but sometimes I wish that what if I had waited to say my child wasnt talking...would it have snowballed into this big diagnosis . I enjoy yout guys insight and videos. Thanks for posting!

it's really important to educate ourselves on autism , what to do if you have it, and how to prevent it. contact Dr Oyalo on CZcams channel for natural cure on his channel. I use his herbs on my son and he is autism free now

I agree that your daughter is not level 3, but if she was diagnosed level 3 she should be getting more ABA hours. Is it an insurance issue? Our daughter is getting 30 hours per week and I think she said she’s level one, even though she’s not.

@@raisingautism8214 thank you for the video. My best friends son just got diagnosed with autism level three he just turned two years old. I wanted to learn more and how I can help her as a support system and how to understand autism a little bit better. I know she’s devastated with the news but I’m glad that he was diagnosed so he could get the help he needs at an early age.

@@raisingautism8214 We are starting next week, schools in my area are open with the option of virtual unless you’re in Special Education Classes, there are no virtual options for them unfortunately. We live in SC, they never really took it too seriously here, I think our state only shut down for about 2 weeks when Covid first got really out of hand last year, so most everything is open here
