Reiterating the whole-of-government approach in addressing the El Niño crisis and in the successful implementation of programs and projects intended for Filipinos who need it the most, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of various assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families in Region VI or Western Visayas in a program at the San Jose de Buenavista in the Province of Antique on June 27, 2024.
“Batid namin na kailangan ninyo ng sandigan at kaagapay upang mapagtagumpayan ang mga pagsubok na kaakibat ng El Niño. Kaya naman, narito kami upang personal kong makita at maghatid ng tulong sa Antiqueños na nakikiisa sa atin ngayon,” the President said in his keynote message.
Apart from cash assistance worth PhP10,000 to each of the 50 beneficiaries from Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Capiz and Aklan, the President turned over farm machineries and equipment, post-harvest kits, bio-fertilizers, hybrid seeds, fiber reinforced plastic boats and other aid to several farmers and fisherfolk association and cooperatives.
Likewise, the Provincial Governments of Antique, Iloilo, Aklan and Capiz received PhP50 million each while PhP28,410,000 was given to Guimaras.
The President discussed some of Antique’s significant infrastructure projects that are key towards bringing further growth and development in the Province. These include the reconstructed Paliwan Bridge connecting the towns of Laua-an and Bugasong, the Panay East-West Lateral Road that is almost 80 percent complete and the Antique Airport Development Project.
“Magtiwala kayong sisikapin namin na maabot ang ating mga liblib at malalayong pamayanan sa bawat sulok ng bansa, nang sa gayon ay walang maiiwan at walang mahuhuli sa sama-sama nating paglalakbay,” President Marcos Jr. stressed as he called on his countrymen to unite and support the government towards the attainment of a prosperous, secure and stable ‘Bagong Pilipinas.’
