I'm glad you at least had an inkling of what Wuthering Heights is! I can't believe so many reactors have no clue about one of the greatest works of art in the English language. You always have very thoughtful comments. I agree that the setting and century may change, but feelings do not. You should check out WH and the story. You'll see what a great job Kate Bush did of recreating the yearning, the haunting feeling of the novel. Enjoy!

What a lot of people don't realise is that it's Kate playing the piano on this track. She wrote the lyrics the music , arranged the music for the other players, and choreographed the dance.

She just helped with the arrangement... but the rest is spot on and a magnificent achivement, even more so at 19, plus it was first time she was in a pro studio. Also, one take vocals, one session mix... damn it, gurl

I don't agree with people commenting about Mace's way of introducing his reactions talking endless nonsense. In that case, what he says is so relevant to what Kate Bush tried (and succeeded!) to share with this song: all the emotions you can get reading a great book, especially an old one which is still relevant a century or more later. In the case of "Wuthering Heights", you get everything he's talking about in terms of emotions: passion, fear, angst, shock, anger, love, hate, revenge and so much more. The way Emily Brontë gets you into the book, the structure of the book is incredible, making the reader part of the story, placing you as the first character who is not part of the story, but who's trying to know what's all about is just brilliant, also maybe a bit confusing at the very begining, but once you're in, you just cannot get out of it and want to know more. I just loved reading "Wuthering Heights" and it's my favourite novel allthough it took me a while getting into this passionnate and harsh story with raw feelings. So Mace, keep on doing your reaction videos the way you feel, I found it very interesting and much more personal than most of other people's reaction videos. Kate Bush did a great job adapting this complicated story into song form and you did too telling us the way you feel about it. Quite clever. And read "Wuthering Heights"; don't bother of it's relative difficulty at first, if you like reading, you won't be disapointed, I promise! The amount of cinema or tv adaptations that happened later prove it's a masterpiece as none ever really captured the strenght of it, but Kate Bush definitely did as when you read the book you can't help seeing her as Cathy.

Kate Bush’s music, particularly The Dreaming and The 9th Wave from her Hounds Of Love album, has been such a huge part of my life. I enjoyed watching your reaction to this wonderful song. If you ever do another Kate Bush video please consider listening to the song ‘Aerial’ which is also the name of the album. That album is probably her most mature album and there’s a 45 second part in the track where Kate’s laughing in response to a bird singing which probably seems terrible, but I promise, only Kate could turn laughing with a bird and it’s song into a masterpiece.

Some relative of hers knew Gilmour and gave him a tape of her music. This song was the one that caught Gilmour's attention. It's Gilmour playing the solo at the end.

Great reaction (but it's a shame the video shortened the ending guitar solo!!!). I'd suggest doing the video for "Love and Anger," which features David Gilmour (who discovered her) playing guitar. Kate's popularity has never waned (her 2014 concert series of 22 shows sold out over 100,000 tickets in less than 15 minuets - a record for the Hammersmith Apollo - and became the first woman to have 8 of her albums in the Top 40 at the same time, 3rd artist behind only Elvis and the Beatles). Strongly suggest that you explore some of her later work, especially her 2005 masterpiece album "Aerial."

Yo pal! First time checking out your site. Gotta tell ya. I like watching straight guy's reactions to this song. During the time it came out, it wasn't released in the United States and I kinda wonder if marketers and VJ's/DJ's knew that straight guys wouldn't tolerate the 'weird' of it. Much like Joni Mitchell. But just to say, and this is fact, this girl did vocals for Pink Floyd AND wrote this when she was just 16 years old, not to mention 'The Man with the Child in his Eyes', which is just too much. Now. What 16 year old girl living today can top the song writing and vocal skills of this girl? None. Zilch. Nothing. You can take your- whomever pop goddess there is currently and- whatever. Anyways. A suggest listen for you from the UK that I think is really worth your ear and your response is a song entitled 'Avalon', by Roxy Music. And the video? Pure artistry. Directed by Ridley Scott before Blade Runner. I doubt there was ever a better video made to enhance such a melody and lyrics. Haunting. I think you and your viewers will agree it's a real pleasure to discover. Oh. And keep up the good work/selections Mace.

@@MaceAroundTheWorld Hello Mace. I wasn't expecting your response. Wow. And thanks. You might want to check out: just found it, this rocker dude's cover of Wuthering Heights. I wouldn't expect a guy to attempt it given the vocal range/gymnastics required and the protagonist being female, but he doesn't give a shit about that and just attacks the vocals and lyrics with a ferocity and kills it. Interesting context here. He takes a female narration, referring to himself as Kathy, and voices an angry insistence/demand for the return of Heathcliff's love, contrary to Kate Bush's etherial vocals, yearning/begging for Heathcliff. Both of them are spectres, escaping the other world and choosing to haunt the nights, the moors of Wuthering Heights in search for Heathcliff to acquire his soul. Only then will their souls be at peace, relieved of the misery of their spectral selves. The guy's name is Dan Vasc/Angra cover and can be found on CZcams. I have to speculate Mace. Had you featured both versions in your format: initially Kate Bush's original, followed by Dan's cover from a male's perspective, could have made interesting viewing to followers, but a bit much? It's all love. None the less, I envision you kinda jumping out of your chair upon first hearing this guy's vocals, then looking kinda perplexed contemplating the 'weird' of the fore mentioned his taking upon the identity of Kathy. Confused? Listen Mace. 'Wuthering Heights' was one of three novels that was required reading in my grade eleven english class when I was of fifteen years old. Back in the day when required reading meant 'essay'. Groan. And me only thinks it's a shame that this classic: it's called literature, has been dropped from today's school curriculum. It's content is just too h a rrrrd for today's youngsters to comprehend, much less put words to and pass the grade. GIve 'em comic books and super heroes who resolve any dilemma with violence. Sorry to ramble but hope you give it a listen. Thanks again.
