Here's something funny .... myself and Julz go back to the late 60s . I loved her . What moved me to comment about this Video . She had a Silver Chain around her neck .... for a flashing instant I saw the Little Silver Hedgehog I'd given her as a present . I was living in Brixton at the time I had come across the little Silver Charm on Electric Avenue in April '81 - there was a Riot goin' on ... She thought it was sweet that I thought of her when I was a Burnin' and a Lootin' ... I still can't believe she's gone . She always told me she'd love me long time . Onya Julz xxx

@@user-so3yw8tr1x I didn't get to meet the other members of the Band ... Julz was my GirlFriend . I met her when she was 14 .... we lived in the same Village . We remained close till she died . I even flew to stay with her where she lived in Southern Thailand .. I miss her . Here's something from the Horses Mouth - she looked 100 times more attractive than that Chrissie Hynde in Leather Pants x

It's so upsetting she stopped making music, I literally love all of the songs made by Delta 5. Their album Singles and Sessions 1979-81 is a 10/10 project, not one bad track.

Thanks for putting this up. I saw Delta 5 in Leeds around this time at some cellar wine bar off Wellington St. I wasn't a fan but we were a bunch of students invited in by either Beth or Julz on the door on a slow weekday evening when we were passing by - they asked if we wanted to see a good band. Didn't appreciate them at the time but I do now - they were ahead of their time.

Thanks for sharing that story. Leeds had some amazing bands: Gang of Four, Delta 5 and the Mekons. I loved them all, but mostly Delta 5. Delta 5 should have had more acclaim, but they broke up way too early. I hope to upload another TV appearance by them on London Weekend TV soon.

Passing by, saw that Julz (Julie) had died. We grew up together in small villages near a small town famous for a former resident 400 years ago. I was good friends with her brother. She was a rebel, infamous locally by the age of fourteen, shaking up a very staid world.
    Good on you Julz!

Came here from the new Apple commercial which has None of Your Business which is a bop for sure. Funny in the 80s I listened to alot of punk and alternative music on WLIR in New York but I dont remember hearing this group. One part of this song reminds me of whip it by Devo. The end guitar reminds me of driven to tears by The Police. Going to look up some more songs and info on them. Thanks for posting this.

Wow, I had no idea that Apple are using a Delta 5 song in a commercial. I hope it makes them a ton of money. I also listened to WLIR (as well as WPIX-FM, and many of the college stations in the NY area back then). I can only remember them being played on college stations like the one from Hofstra with Sara Salir. I was lucky to have first seen Delta 5 at the Clarendon Ballroom on July 4, 1980, and became an immediate fan. Thanks for your comment!

Miss them. Miss the time. There was so much commercialism and glam rock at the time. I think the one venue which might have given them a chance to get the exposure they needed was a spot on SNL back then. That show had phenomenal ratings at the time with no cable competition and late on Sat. nite. It may have helped give them a crossover appeal and maybe a shot on some other American television.

Delta 5 were somewhat unique in that they featured 2 bass players, both female. The vocalist with the bass is Bethan Peters. The other bassist is Ros Allen. Some of their songs had some great interplay between the two bassists. If you really want to experience Delta 5 at their very best, buy the full length concert DVD from Hurrah, I promise you it will be the best 4 euros you've ever spent: artclips.free.fr/PRIVATE-STREAMINGS.html

You’re wrong. Delta 5’s clear influence was The Gang of Four, but they were even more vibrant and powerful band than them. However, if you have heard all their discography, you can realize their influences from Funk and disco soul and punk rock. However as u wrote, Joy Division’s clear influence was Siouxsie and Magazine, as the absolutely resembled the style of “join hands “ Lp in 1979
