  • Hello, Blimers🍍

    You know what? Surprisingly this is our first time to visit Singapore...!
    And we were very surprised that we actually could communicate with Singaporean in Bahasa Melayu!
    Also we tried some mamak style food in Singapore which is very similar to Malaysian food.🤔
    Hope you enjoy our Singapore trip vlog💕

      Either u wanna promote Halal Chinese restaurant or non-Halal in the video.
      I suggest u go for Nasi Padang (Singapore have diverse Malay background which came from the Nusantara region, some of our forefathers came from Java island - now known as Indonesia)
      Go Arab street area you can find Arab Mediterranean foods, explore the restaurant area the area you able to find Tulang Merah & Murtabak, Padang restaurants.
      If want explore our neighbourhood hawker centres, you can find cheaper alternatives (provided not at CBD Central city district areas)

    Anyways not that I live in Singapore, I have relatives in Malaysia.

    so glad tt you enjoyed your short adventure in sg though i do have to correct the subtitles when they're calling golden mile food centre as night market and pasar malam cause its technically a hawker/food centre. a night market is a totally diff set up though ours isn't as diverse as the ones over at malaysia. and nt so sure if the guy in the video is a local bt he did a poor job of sharing abt sg - though majority of singaporeans converse in english, the various ethnic groups do converse in their own mother tongue language, namely malay, chinese and tamil. which is why the signages all over the island is in 4 diff languages. i guess all in all like one of the comments here, sg is kinda similar to malaysia albeit we're a more modern, efficient, and safer environment ✌🏽

    Usually only the Malays know Bahasa Meleyu, and some non-Malay older folk also. Chinese Singaporeans generally don't know much on average, except for common basic words like makan, pasar, food names and the national anthem, and the guys know Malay drill commands from National Service.

      @AlWalker2023 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Bahasa Melayu is the lingua franca in this region, so it is no surprise that older generations can speak fluently or partially. When Singapore gets its independence, Bahasa Melayu was made the National Language thus the anthem is in Malay. Official language is English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. The lingua franca is of course then change to the Queens English.

    You might want to look at the history, Singapore was a part of Malaysia which was known as Tanah Melayu (the Malay Land). So, it's not shocking their national anthem is in Malay, their foods are very much similar to the ones in Malaysia. Also since the ruler is Chinese in a multiracial country, so it makes sense that their first language is English.
