  • This is a compilation of footages recorded on 4th December and 19th November 2022 in Czechia, Europe. It shows picking of Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and Velvet shanks / wild Enoki (Flammulina sp.). On top of that, it shows some other mushrooms species including high quality photography. Not all of the shown mushrooms in snow are typical winter species, some of them were just growing in good autumn conditions until the first snow.

    I really love your content. I'm currently hungover in bed and this is exactly what I needed. I've been getting into foraging recently and your videos are very clear, calm and have helped me ID a few species I wasn't sure on that I had found. Thank you very much, love from England

    Hi Luke, nice video and great pictures! Thanks!!! This year was the first time I discovered winter mushrooms for myself. My findings are mostly tree ears, and I was even able to find 2 oyster mushroom colonies. I hope to find flammulinas as well.

    holy crap! I didnt expect them to grow in the winter even with snoq in some areas! I live in vermont so I might go explore this upcoming weekend, I wonder if amanita will grow? I love finding those, saw a ton this past fall, I make a tea with them that helps me sleep well on those anxious nights. Thanks for sharing man

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  Před rokem

      My pleasure. Just keep in mind that many of those mushrooms don't really grow in winter. They just had good conditions up until the first snow and frost so that's why I was able to find the amanita or the red cap, for example.

    Thank you Luke. I am blessed to learn from you. God sure has blessed your foraging for mushrooms.

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  Před rokem

      I'm lad you like it. About snow / frost, it may change both texture and flavor, or even to turn edible mushrooms to poisonous. In general it is not recommended to pick non-winter species if they were frozen already.

      There are ways how to distinguish them. But I don't want to give any advices here, as a mistake can be fatal. I recommend to find an expert who can teach you or study reliable resources like trusted websited or books.

    05:40 Although I'm normally a stickler for stet, a printer's term; the timely change to 'Wood Ear' should be welcomed what with the II World war and the recent rise of racist facism.
    Let the Latin stay as a warning to history and of course an aid to taxonomy (two Greek words)

    • @BavonWW
      @BavonWW Před rokem

      Hmm, actually stet refers to letting an error stay.
      Does anyone have a suitable substitute?
