    First, let me say I love this video! I am new to woodworking and this is an awesome example of a "woodworking for newbies" video. I ordered a few of the cheese slicer hardware from you last week and have made the boards. I am about to do the drilling and went back to the video to see how you did it and that part of your video is missing. I wonder could you show me exactly how you drilled the port on the end of the board. Thanks for the lesson.

      +SAWBLADE PROJECTS They work very well actually. The handles are slick though, so sometimes challenging to get good torque. I've seen some people put a dowel in the handle to have a T for extra torque. I love my K-Body Bessey clamps for most everything. They have rubber grip in the handles.

    Hi! Nice job on the cheese slicers and the video. I don’t understand why you cut an angled kerf. The instructions in my kit dont call for this. When you say the blade needs to be set to just over 1/2” to “clear the hole”, do you mean “to go all the way through the hole to allow for the wire to rest in the kerf? Did you drill your hole offset or right in the middle of the board? You didn’t show anything about actually drilling the hole. Thanks for any help, I’m in the middle of making a few of these.

  • @benchkey

    These are similar to cutters used for slicing soap. The soap cutters need a back stop and a moveable end stop although the end stop isn't absolutely necessary. Still many soap makers buy similar cheese slicers.

    Are you happy with your incra fence. thinking of getting one myself

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  Před 8 lety

      One of the best investments I ever made. I never take a tape measure to the table saw... It works great! The only downfall is that it takes up extra room so the fence can extend out the end, so you have to work that into your space.
      It is a total time saver. Perfect repeatable cuts if you need to go back to a specific measurement.

    I just made one of those, but IZ have an issue with it. The wire isn't falling in the groove. I can draw out the metal tube and it works well, but it slides back to the original out of alignment quickly. Do you have any advice for that?

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  Před 3 lety

      Brad, the tension of the wire should hold the arm in place. Just pull or push the back of the arm out of the hole until the wire is aligned all the way to the front.

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  Před 8 lety

      Tim, a drum sander isn't necessary... You can use a planer. However, with the curly maple, it would probably have chipped out some with the aggressiveness of the planer. If I wasn't using such highly figured woods, I would have used the planer because I could have gotten them to same thickness much quicker.
