Echo! It was so much fun to record this video with you about conference speaker bios. Thanks for having me on your CZcams channel! There are articles and interviews about managing your online presence in academia on my blog, The Social Academic theacademicdesigner.com/blog/
I remember the first time I was asked to write a bio for myself. This was long before grad school--I was going to be on an online podcast (talking about science in the homeschool), and they told me to write the introduction they read. I had such horrible impostor syndrome that I spent hours stumped. I finally broke through the writer's block by writing a couple of horribly snarky, tongue-in-cheek bios about myself...I still go back and read those sometimes because they're hilarious! It's been 15+ years but I still struggle to write bios, so thank you (both of you). This was needed.
That's so cool you kept them! I'm sure if I read my first ones, they'd just be boring. It's great yours are fun to read after all this time. What a fun trip down memory lane, thank you for sharing!
It's hard to write an introduction for yourself! Writer's block is so normal with bio writing. I love that you kept those bios, and that you've gone back to re-read them since. Thanks for your comment! So glad you felt this was needed.
