    A bike for 12k$ with 109hp is definitely not a starter bike. Why the need to classify as such? Especially since in the US you can get a motorcycle license with a weekend course, which barely teaches you how to stay alive on a 20hp bike.

    I dont understand why americans and pretty much british say that a 700 or 800 can be a starting bike, in real world rookies start with less than 400 cc, and even though it is dangerous

    The clip is for the Retro. Original Monster has a functional clip. Drop some termis on and the sound is incredible. False neutral yes but after the 600 miles service drops off a great deal.

      @@DundeMan hello. Well I haven't started the season yet so I will let you know. Haha. I'm a bit scared of all the valve head breaking issues but I will just keep it low Rev and warm it up and check valves once in a while. The bike is amazing tho but haven't tried too many R's to compare.

    Oh Matty, do you do more than 5min of research before doing these kinds of videos? That clip at the from of the gas tank, it's a throwback to the original run Monsters, and it's a quick release so you can get to the airbox and vertical head without having to completely remove the tank. Then again, seems like only those of us who own and maintain our own Monsters pay attention to this, apparently.

    I have this Ducati. I do agree that the shifting is touchy. First to second can be glitchy and even in higher gears it sometimes doesn't want to catch. Besides that, I do love this motorcycle.

      @AT2Productions Před 3 lety +1

      The clutch/gearbox does take a little time to seat in, this is common gripe for new bikes. My 2005 Monster doesn't have the same issue, the shifting issue is from me not flicking the lever properly, nothing mechanical.

    When they were 1st introduced, QS, they were meant for full throttle upshifts but with time and ecu developments the blipper/downshift part became a feature. People need to know how to use this device and when they work best. I have this bike, not the stealth but red in 2022 and added the DQS part. Works great and cleans up/smooths out the sometimes notch feel at all tge shift points. If you dont know how to shift some bikes or what they require then you can experience shortcomings verses another bikes. Learn/educate yourself then the Italian transmission works great. False neutrals and missed shifts are typically from user error. Also, in my 40 year motorcycle experience, the monster 821 is not a good or great beginner motorcycle. Not by a long shot. Even if thinking Urban ridding mode makes it safer more rider friendly. The 821 front brake is well above 95% of other motorcycles not using Brembo brake setup. Much better feel and bite than most Japanese manufactures brakes Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki.

      the shiver is great for sure... but as far as bells and whistles: the duc wins and wins- this 821 gets you ready to move to the next level in the range while the shiver is very basic and is not even remotly like a full on RSV4 RF... while this 821 has lots of gizmos right off a panigale V4

      Matty Motorcycle for the price of this Monster you can buy a slightly used Tuono, which is exactly like the RSV4 in many departments. Sure, it is not a great starter bike, but it is much much better bang for the buck, in my opinion. Thanks for the great videos, cheers!
