The add motor M360 would make for a good travel bike on moderate terrain. You could easily add a small bed roll just behind the handlebars. Then load the basket with your other supplies. Not so sure about the low hanging chain though. If the tension arm moves towards the front of the bike. Hitting a solid object could really mess it up.

I live in an inner residential area of Berlin - and I'm glad that some parcel delivery services are now using electrically assisted bikes with large cargo compartments.
They replace aging diesel vans that clog up the streets when parked for delivery and they avoid lots of combustion fumes. 👍

    • @Electric-Rideables

That's fantastic news! It's really encouraging to hear about the shift towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly delivery methods, especially in densely populated urban areas like Berlin. The use of electrically assisted bikes with large cargo compartments sounds like a great initiative to reduce traffic congestion and minimize air pollution. It's a win-win for both the city's atmosphere and its residents.

Excellent video. Excellent products. These vehicles are starting to get my attention in a serious way. I would love to get rid of my car, the insurance, taxes, maintenance and fuel costs are enormous and to get a new one I'll need financing as well. The city I live has converted all the rail lines to walking/bike trails including the old railway bridge. No hills. I'd be crazy not to look into a vellocar, one that is totally covered that can go from trail to street with no license, insurance or registration required. There was one in the video that was really close. Need it to be winterized too. Subed and liked :)

      (1) The greenhouse cost of shipping will turn off much of the interested customer base in the USA.
      (2) Many of these are being made by small companies run by people tired of seeing all of the decent-paying jobs that don't require a college degree sent to Southeast Asia.
      (3) The customer cost difference would be far less than that due to the profit motive of the importers. It would just be another case of Asian workers being underpaid relative the target market's sale price-which in the long run is bad for Asian economies.
Making these products at prices affordable for local Asian markets, targeted at those markets, and by people in those markets would be good for everybody.

a big issue would be the spatial awareness of motor vehicle drivers and riders. These things would have to have flag poles with lights/reflectors on them because some of them are very low to the ground. i imagine a lot of car drivers turning into them. cyclists would have a lot more awareness then people in these things and could therefore protect themselves from cars, so i imagine myself feeling safer on a bike.

The e bikes should not be confused with velomobiles. Real velomobiles are made of carbon to be as light as possible, with low center of gravity for good maneuvering and they use rider's peddling power only. The average speed is usually much higher than 25 km/h, so there's no use for electric motor, it is just extra dead weight. If you want/ need exercise then you should buy a velomobile like Milan, DF, Quattrovelo, Alpha 7 etc... and these bikes already exist.
Many of these e bikes are interesting concepts on designer's screen, but fail to be impractical in real life. And they really depend on that motor because of heavy weight. Although there clearly seems to be need for further development, some of the cargo bikes might still be great for delivery jobs

The 'pure science' that goes into designing a minimalist vehicle to meet the criteria of light weight and low energy use will produce different results from those achieved by the producers of ICE vehicles based on the design concepts of last century. Also, Electric and Hybrid vehicles specifically designed to look as much like a traditional ICE vehicle as possible (in order to sell them to older/more conservative buyers who might consider anything else "odd") will rarely be as efficient as those designed according to science rather than fashion/aesthetics.

Hi guy's . So here's a major problem and point of your european electric transportation ideas, 1 if I can't drive to a d from my destination in 1 charge its useless I can drive 40 miles just to the other side of town and 40 back . 2 the vehicle needs to go 55mph so I can use the inner city byways. And if I choose to go to a picnic or camping outing, the mountain is 60 miles away , and there is no 0ower grid there so a minimum of 130miles not 130km is needed.

Only if the was not so expensive. I mean, a car is cheaper and better than most of these velomobiles.

A valid point. Hopefully the price of some of these will come down.

The Cabrio velo needs a steering wheel and it would look right.
But to address all of these, they are way too expensive, one or two of them look kind of ok ish but the price is ridiculously high.
I predict the first company that brings out something that looks good at a price that is affordable and they will clean up, all these things are 6 grand 10 grand and so on, simply puts them out of the reach of the average cyclist, and at the price of them, makes them highly steal able, virtually no security devices on them and a super expensive price.
So bring out a version that is around 2 grand looks good gives good range and less pedalling and they may just be what some are looking for.
I bought an electric bike it cost less than 500 pounds and It has gone around 700 miles in 3 to 4 months I added extra range at a cost of 200 pounds, I was not a cycling person more motorcycling, I'm not fit at all, so my point is if these people want people to use these things the price has to be right and the range has to be upgradable, extras at a reasonable price.
Oh and cycling was a thing I loved to do when I was a lot younger, the price excludes young people, but the effort you have to put in to make them go means you need to be young to make them go, a miss match of values.
Less effort, lower price, bigger range, and a little thought on security.

There have been 'self-build' kits for velomobiles around for a long time (thus reducing cost), and slotting an electric-motor-wheel in to make the commute easier has been a popular mod. Just enter Self Build Kit for Velomobiles into a search-engine ... have a notepad and a cup of tea/coffee handy first though : ), there are lots out there.

@@alfnoakes392 It's good to know this stuff, but I wonder how many people would be willing to buy and pay thousands of pounds to build their own Ford fiesta or Jag the point being, most people want something ready to go, they don't have the space to mix chemicals or have parts laid all over the place, they want to see a reasonably priced gizmo and just go with it and if they like it they may sell their old one and up grade to something better later on.
But yes for some a home build is good, though most wouldn't due to space or other reasons.
Just as a thought you can buy a state of the art escooter capable of going 60 mph for around 2.5 grand these velo's will probably go the legal limit of around 15 mph or a bit more with effort and cost 6 to 15 grand, ok you won't get wet other than from sweating like mad from all the hard work, but that's a pretty expensive umbrella don't you think.

Why are these vehicles so expensive? $10k for what is basically a $1500 bike with a plastic shell. These are half the cost of a cheap, but brand new car which is far more capable
