It's closer to a cover than a remix, but people generally consider electronic covers and electronic remixes as the same, which they aren't. That's why it sounds similar but most remixes don't, most remixes just keep a couple of core ideas in the song and change or "remix" everything else, this is closer to a cover than those because it keeps the structure, original vocals and instruments ect.
