I dont know how it goes in US but in CZ it never happened to me that people would try to keep it either when I frogot something at bus they gave it to driver (my wallet) or gave it back to me...... and for that they had to PICK IT UP.... so yeah people who would actually try to be nice would be punished here aswell which is quite dumb....
