Stay away from tire prep. It dries out the tires and makes them harder. Use cloth around the tire and soak contact area with diesel fuel and wrap with plastic wrap. Every day go check tires and soak the cloth again. Paper towel can work instead of cloth. Diesel fuel Revitalizes the tire and even when diesel fuel dries out the tire still stays soft where tire prep the tire gets hard when it dries out.
Ive heard wd40 is good for softening hardened tyres. Apparently it works by chemically softening the compound. It sounds crazy so im curious if others have ever tried it..
@@shorttrackthing6919 for racing that will be true, but alot just race for abit of fun using used race tyres, so anything which restores them for non race use is ok.
@@shorttrackthing6919 it depends on your race organization. some outlaw it and some allow it with restrictions, and some have it wide open. It all depends on your track/organization's rules.
@@mr.coconut2123 you need to get them clean immediately since the tyres become hot and sticky the dirt and grime will stick to the rubber since it's soft and in semi liquid manner after the tyres cool down the rubber gets hard and the dirt will be stuck in there.
Evan Hendrickson yes that's what we do with the tired we actually use for weekend racing. The tired you seen were just used the day before at a back yard track that we were just out having fun. The tires weren't good ones.
what makes a tire better then another tire? What do you look for in a tire that you choose to race? I'm just trying to learn. I raced karts years ago and it's nothing like it is today. Thanks, Brandon Chretien
it deepends on your kart and what tires are for your kart. There are different types d1 d2 d3 and rain tires and its all about the feel and with what tires you get the best grip with.
Your putting way too much pressure on that grinder... it shouldn't be dogging down like that its not necessary to push that hard.. all you will do is burn up the surface of the fire and destroy the flapper disc quicker and use more spray then that it will help as welll.. this is what I've found out over the years doing my tires .. especially burriss
You scrub them in simple green and tire prep

hey man nice vid, I like how you emphasised twice about how the tire accepts the prep!
never thought about the warm up, thanks

It works, but there are much better and more consistent preps on the market.
Its illegal to soften them but you can grind them ans wash em

your first mistake is leaving the track with dirty tires they are junk when u let them sit dirty
mustang 2017 actually if u leave them dirty it helps get the prep out quicker
@@hank1484 that's not true at all

if you would use all 3 nuts it probably wont wobble as much
and oblong the holes in the wheel....DUH!!!
That's a 22 not a 33 and always wash the tire prior to resurfacing so your not grinding dirt into the tire
thank you this will Riley help with my tires me and my dad are knew new like half a year
It may have grip but it's gone through to a cord
It was probably a demo tire for the video.
Clean your tires when you leave the track

Take it to an old school tire shop that does tires for salt flat runs and trues tire then it will be a good tire spray some 303 if it’s Gona sit long
