    A Tennessee woman who did not see a doctor after coming down with strep throat is learning to live without some of her fingers and toes after the condition worsened and nearly killed her. Shelby Smith, 27, was a health-conscious young woman who stayed in great shape. So what happened in the days after catching strep throat in December was nothing short of astonishing. "I haven't been sick in forever. It's been years," she told Inside Edition. On January 2 she was rushed to the emergency room. #InsideEdition

    I'm sorry this is ridiculous that someone would wait so long to get medical treatment because they don't have medical insurance. I'm sure the cost of the ambulance is a lot more expensive than a bottle of penicillin. I rather file for bankruptcy if I can't pay the bill than to be close to death's door. I have had strep throat on more than one occasion too and there is no way I would wait such a illness like this out!! Maybe she has a high threshold for pain, that's the only thing I can think of for all of this to happen to her.

    • @Susanc06
      @Susanc06 Před 7 lety +1

      Jeremy smith What I'm saying is that she must of had a high threshold for pain. Because now she finally went to the doctor and the bill is probably over a hundred thousand or more. Regardless, it's sad someone has to feels this way in the first place and will risk dying over going to seek medical helped because they can't afford it.

      susan c. The video doesn't say if she knew. I would doubt she new since one must have a steep culture done first. Yes, many people get Strept and don't realize it. It runs its course without any problems. Then others have severe illness. Like chronic kidney disease and needing heart valve replacement. Sepsis, etc. Best to get it treated. Doesn't sound like she had a clue.

    • @cordsandwires3038
      @cordsandwires3038 Před 6 lety +1

      susan c well when you don't have money waiting it out is the best option. Not everyone can just pay for things Willy nilly. She didn't have money to pay them. So don't just assume that because you can do something means that everyone can and will.
