  • It's been 70 years since Charlie Wilson was on Utah Beach, where he landed with the U.S. 4th Division to take France. Now his mission is to ensure future generations know the story of one of freedom's greatest victories over tyranny. Mark Phillips reports.

The fact that he said he's willing to do it all over again if he had to is astonishing. This man is a godsend.

I’ve had the honor of meeting this gentleman. Even say him today. Helped him walk around our town get together and listened to everything this great man had to say. I’ve thanked him so many times for all that he’s done for this country and for the world. He’s truly an American soldier.

My father was in the Naples Foggia and Rome Arno Campaigns. He never talked about it, served 3 and a half years. He said the Italian people were nice to the African American soldiers there. Truly the Greatest Generation.

I always told my grandfather I would go with him to Normandy where he stormed the beaches 70+ years ago...however I don't think he truly wanted to go...he passed away back in 2010... I'm still going to go there and he can be with me in spirit....
