I had a lot of fun keeping the core elements of this song intact this week, just expanding the instrumentation and just going with the flow of what the song felt like it needed. Sometimes, simple is best - and nobody proves that better than Chris Martin and Co. Powerful, singable, and honest. Great job, fellas.

My best friend died last year 25/07/2023 he took me to see Coldplay live at Wembley Stadium August 2022 I always miss him and Coldplay will always be a reminder of him and the best night of my life. R.I.P bro. Love this version 🤘

@@pinnacleexpress420 Different key, adding the first verse lyric into the background of the 'tears stream' bridge area, the absence of an organ and doubled up guitars instead, percussion entering the chat during the first verse when the original does not have percussion until the bridge, which alone turns up the rock factor substantially, the pop punk vocal and flourishes. It's a great homage, so I see why you're saying what you are. Just listen to them back to back. The similarities are there, so the spirit of the song is still in tact, but this is definitely not just a carbon copy.

@@jackhopkins5956 Cody Fry's Fix You is the high water mark for me. His orchestration is just magnificent. I'm a sucker for those big, bombastic, Disney-esque movements.
I find Jacob Collier's covers fun to jog alongside trying to keep up on the first few listens because his technical ability is always astonishing, but once I start being able to anticipate his movements because I've heard a given arrangement a few times, I don't feel a particular emotional connection.
This probably all speaks to me being a relentless fucking luddite at heart, but I do love a good pop song. I'd take his "Time Alone With You" over his "Here Comes The Sun" any day of the week and the difference is one of them is working really, really hard to impress us and the other one is just a sick groove.

@@YorkshireD1 I don't know what it is, perhaps it is something do with how "safe" they are. I had to watch a few clips of live gigs of theirs on here and somehow even though they have huge audiences going crazy for them and Chris bounds about the place they feel "safer" than say Oasis who in their prime would basically stand still yet still had more balls and attitude in spite of the fact the most dynamic thing at the gig was a shoe being launched at Liam. I suppose it is the attitude that is the difference and it comes out musically as well which is why this Emo rendition is not just a cover but an elevation of the original as it infuses an attitude, something that is lacking in a lot of popular music I have heard.
While this is a good remake, you can't dock Coldplay. It's a whole sonic vibe. The instrument/sound selection mixed in with Chris's vocals make it very unique and beautiful for what it is.
