I do not routinely comment on CZcams videos, but I am compelled to comment there to THANK YOU for finally solving what has been driving me absolutely crazy for the last 3 weeks. I fully rebuilt / replaced the carb and engine coil on my 13 year old PB-250. Started great, but bogged endlessly and never had consistent power. THEN is just started dying whenever I hit the throttle. I had this thing apart more times that J.Lo has been divorced, and as of yesterday was ready to throw in the towel and buy a new one. I found this video in a last ditch effort to save her, and within about 75 seconds, it's running like BRAND NEW again. Why was there no mention of this small set screw in ANY of the Carb instructions or Carb replacement videos??? Thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars and saving my perfectly good blower from a landfill!
That's so awesome! I really enjoyed reading your comment and I'm so glad I was able to help... 😊
I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. czcams.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.
YEP... 😀
Dude. I was extremely skeptical. I followed your instructions exactly and every single thing you said was true. The plastic plug came right out to my surprise. I turned the screw to the left and it ran like a top. Thanks so much. Saved me a trip to the small engine repair shop.
That's awesome! Glad I could help... 😀
One of the best DIY videos I’ve seen. Well done.
Excellent! Thanks for the great comment...:-)
That was one of the best you tube videos I have seen in a long time even though I don’t have that particular issue. The videography especially the close ups were on point, and the audio was clear. Subscribed. Thanks.
Great to hear! Thank you so much! You're welcome..
Thank you for the great tip/procedure! Also, for anyone who does not have the right tools: I didn't have the right size punch but a 5/64" allen wrench heated with a cig lighter worked well.
Absolutely! Anything in that size range would work. Thanks for the great feedback.. 🙂
Same for me... Great tip. Glad to have found this. Thx!
Thanks for the allen wrench tip. Worked like a champ.
Great video! It was clear and easy to understand. I really enjoyed the way you enlarged the camera shot of the Echo while making youself visible as you explained the fix. Thank you
👍👍
Excellent! Thanks for the great comment... :-). I'm glad you liked the format too... :-)
I did it exactly as you instructed. Works perfectly now. Thanks man!
Great to hear!😊😊
I see that your video was posted up 5 years ago. Today, it really did help me. My echo had been doing the same thing and that's because I had just picked it up from a repair shop. The man that repaired it, told me that the leaf blower was just too old. He had replaced carburetor, but the issue was bogging down. Because he had already replaced the carburetor, the rubber piece you use to heat up wasn't there making my repair extremely easy. I followed your instructions while pressing the trigger and wow, the leaf blower runs like new. Thank you so much for this video
Wow! That's awesome! I'm surprised the repair shop didn't know about the adjustment... I'm so glad I was able to help you... 😊
Wish I knew about this fix last year, replaced carb and only worked for one season. Thanks for posting this well made video, it really helped.
Excellent! Thanks for the comment.. :-)
You sir are a genius and a hero. So glad I found this before buying a new carb. Worked in less than 5 mins
Great to hear!
Nice video! Simple, clear and to the point. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Thanks for the great feedback.. 🙂
Thanks Rudy! Worked like a charm, my Echo didnt even have the cap over the screw. 1/2 turn left and bam, full power. Appreciate your time to video this fix.
Awesome! Glad you got it going again.... 🙂
OMG! I have been through 2 carburetors trying to figure out this problem and you did it with about 2 turns of a screw...awesome!
Excellent..! Glad I could help. 😀
Thank you! I was able to remove the brass and plastic plug. Adjusted the carb and now is like brand new. More power and no bogging at full throttle.
Excellent! You're welcome..
I'm glad I found this video. Fortunately it was easy to find. I just bought the ECHO ES 250 today and right out of the box it had this problem. I'll give this a try and see if it clears up that obnoxious bogging.
If it were me, if you haven't already removed the plastic plug... I'd take that puppy right back if you just bought it!
Thank you for the video. I pulled out the rubber cap and adjusted the carb. Works great now. You da man.
Awesome! You're welcome... :-)
WOW followed directions- worked like a charm!!!!
Less than 5 minutes 👍
Awesome!... :-)
Excellent video. I was about to bring my blower to the shop. Good thing I saw this clip. I tried what you said to do and it worked like a charm.
That's awesome! Glad it helped😊
Thank you! Got an Echo blower at a garage sale for $20. Adjusted the screw and it's back to full power! Unreal!!!
Awesome! So glad I could help..
Great find! Echo OPE lasts forever
Great video. The "fix" worked on mine just as you showed, right down to the trick removing the plastic plug. Thanks for the thorough, easy-to-follow instructions.
Excellent! You're welcome... :-)
I LOVE YOU MAN! THat worked perfectly. The only hard part eas digging out that plug. I didn’t want to sacrifice a craftsmannpunch’s temper. I got it out with a 1” drywall screw in about 3 minutes.
Yes! Good idea.... Sorry for the late response, your comment was lost in the mix...
This was a great video and after months of searching and replacing carb, this was the ticket!
That's awesome! Glad I could help.. 😀
Terrific video. 5 minute fix and saved a big repair bill. Easy. Didn't have a torch but gas stovetop range worked fine.
Thanks for the great feedback! Glad you were able to get your blower going again... 😊
GREAT JOB!
Same thing happened to me. Son tried to start the blower without the switch tuned to "ON" position so when I started the blower it almost sounded like a fouled plug. Replaced plug and same thing. Almost went to the Depot and picked up a new one but decided to google the problem and low and behold, I found you. The tip about putting a heated punch in the plastic plug is AWESOME. I don't think I would have been able to pull it out and adjust the carb without this tip.
Awesome..! I'm glad you were able to get it going... :-)
I love you. This was perfect.
Carb clean still didn't work. This was it.
That grommet is tricky though.
Awesome! Glad you got it going...
Fantastic video that was very well made and narrated. I have an echo blower that is bogging so I came to CZcams and found your video explanation on how to fix it. Many thanks to you.
Awesome, thank you!
I did everything just like you said and blower is running perfect now thank you for sharing this information.
Excellent! So glad I could help... 😀
Great idea getting that plug out. I wasted about 15 minutes trying to dig it out with a few sharp pointed picks. Was finally able to but your idea is a much better way of going about it.
Excellent! Glad you got it going.. 😊
Thanks for the video man, used your advice on my Pb 265l and it runs like a scalded dog now! Have a good one!
You're welcome... Thanks for the great comment... :-)
I just completed this procedure and it worked exactly as advertised. Used a nail with a vice grip and a bbq lighter. Thank You! Subscribed👍
Excellent! Yes anything like that will work... :-)
Great tip! I used it on my PB265-LN and although I had to turn it to the right it worked great. Used a 3/32 Allen and vicegrips to get the plug out. Thanks for sharing and saving me some $$!
Awesome! You're welcome.. 🙂
I've had my Echo es250 for several years, tried cleaning everything and never helped the top end. I didnt have the right size punch but the flat end of a small drill bit worked fine to get the plug out. Thanks, your hack worked great!
So excellent! 😎
Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I did not find your video the last time I tried to solve this problem. As you were describing the problem I was like "yes...yes...". Then you said messing with the choke and I was like YES! I was about to give up and trash the blower. Thanks so much for the video.
You're welcome! Thank you for the great feedback 🙂
Worked like a charm. I used a lighter and an Allen wrench that fit the hole in the plug. My blower works the way it should now. I used to take the filter out to make it to run at full throttle. That blower was a problem from the day I bought it. I usually could run it for one tank of gas but once I refilled it the thing would bog down soon after. So thanks for the fix.
Excellent! Thanks for the comment!
Brilliant! Followed your instructions and it worked wonderfully. I ended up clamping an allen wrench to a vise grip, heated up the wrench, stuck it down into the opening, waited a couple of minutes and popped that baby right out. Thanks so much for the great words of wisdom.
Excellent! I'm glad you got it going😊
Dude that allen wrench idea was genius. Glad i read this comment after the video. Got my power back in my blower!
Great tip to fix this. Worked perfectly. Used your hot punch trick to remove the plastic plug and the rest was so easy. Thanks. btw mine was a Echo PB-251
Glad it helped, You're welcome 😊😊
Thanks a million! My pb255 hasn’t run in a year.
I’d replaced all seals, gaskets, bulb, lines, filters, spark plug and it wouldnt fill the primer bulb in 2019 but after all that it still wouldn’t run.
Out of utter necessity I decided to give it another try again today.
The primer bulb wouldn’t fill so the blower would only run for a short spurt and then shut off. I had the fuel lines to the carb backwards!Fixed that, it would run but would bog under load like your video shows.
Thank goodness I found your video!
I used the torch method to remove the black plug as you showed. Used the end of a small broken piece of a needle file I had laying around. I leaned out the mixture screw by turning counter clockwise just until it would run smooth at high rpm, not bog, had good transient throttle response and didnt smell dry, run too hot or sound like it was running lean.
Kudos to you! This video got my tool up and running again. Many thanks. 🙏
So awesome! You're welcome and thanks for sharing..😊
Fixed my bogging issue today. Saved me quite a bit of time. Thank you!
Excellent.... So glad I could help. You're welcome!
That was great. Just what the doctor ordered to fix my problem. Thank you so much! New subscriber.
Awesome! You're welcome... Thanks for the sub!.. :-)
Thank you. Great job on explaining the repair so well.
You're welcome... :-)
this technique worked perfectly. My 13 year old son and I worked on ours… used a grill lighter and did not need a blow torch. Used a small Allen wrench. Amazing!
Excellent! Glad you got it going again.. 😊😊
Great Video my friend. You just saved me $149 + tax from Home Center. My two years old blower was acting up and I was able to tune up.Thanks
Glad I could help... :-)
Thanks SO much!!! This worked perfectly! Saved me a major hassle!
You're welcome!... Glad it helped.
If you don’t have a punch, the back end of a 3/32” drill bit works really well. Thank you for the video!
Excellent! Yes anything of that size will work great..
Getting mine ready for summer use and it wouldn't start. Took the carb all apart and cleaned it, cleaned the exhaust and still wouldn't start. Got good spark, fresh fuel, watched your video and adjusted the carb like you showed and BAM!!!! Started first pull, run wide open and fine tuned it. Runs better than last year for sure, thank you!
That's so excellent! Thanks for sharing.. :-)
I wanted to use my echo to blow snow off my sidewalk but it didn’t have enough power to move it. I watch your video and it fixed my low power. I didn’t have a 3/32, punch so I ground the tip off a nail and used it with a pair of vise grips, worked flawlessly! Great Video
Excellent idea! that would certainly work just fine. Glad you got it going... 😀
That is an awesome tip on removing the plug to access adjustment screw. Most have you take everything apart. This is a better way. Thanks
Awesome! You're welcome.. Thanks Yogi.. 🙂
Had same problem after installing a new carb, fuel lines, s plug, air filter...
Watched this video and luckily my new carb didn't have that plug to remove. Just gave it throttle and turned it counterclockwise and is ALOT better.
This video helped no doubt.
That's awesome! Also one thing I forgot to mention was sometimes the spark arrestor in the muffler can get clogged, so that's something to consider.
Thank you! This worked for my echo blower.
Excellent! Glad it helped... :-)
I did everything you said with great detail. It worked perfectly. great help. Thanks
That's excellent... You're welcome! 😀
Thank you so much for this video. I installed a new carb on mine and it was doing this. Adjusting the high speed screw like you showed fixed the problem.
Excellent! You're welcome and I'm glad the video was helpful.. 😀
I was about to order a new carburetor. I bought the same leaf blower off of my neighbor for $20 dollars yesterday but it was doing the same thing. I adjusted the mix screw and it worked perfectly! Just had to turn it counter clockwise about 1 turn and a half. The little Plastic cover part of the screw was aggravating to get out so I just drilled it. Thank you so much!
So awesome my video was able to help you... Hopefully your neighbor won't be to angry when they discover it was an easy and even worse a free fix!😂
I had a tough time getting the plug out but worked out in the end. Thanks...
You're welcome!
Had same issue and this worked out great thanks
Excellent... I'm glad this helped.. :-)
Thanks! That worked great! Appreciate your clear easy to follow video.👍🏼
Glad it helped! You're welcome.. 😊
Thank you thank you thank you! I was getting half power and thought it just needed to warm up... Nope adjustment solved my issues. I was getting half power and now she BLOWS!! Allen wrench instead of a punch worked great as well to remove the plug!! Sir i really cant thank you enough on this one!
You're welcome! I'm so glad you got it working again... 🙂
Worked! I used the head of a small nail held with some pliers.
Excellent!
My leaf blower has been bogging like this nearly since the day I bought it and got it out of the box. Thank you for making this video. By the way, a hook pick will pull that plug out too.
You're welcome! So glad I could help... 😊. Thanks for the tip..
Thanks we should’ve seen your video before ordered a new carb Put new carbon didn’t make a difference but all carbon did what you said in this video worked amazing thank you. Good job.
Excellent! Glad you got it going again... 😀
I love your FIX Idea and love the video pip setup great job! Thanks
Thanks so much!
Incredibly Helpful. Owe you one!
Thank you and You're welcome!
Used a 3/32 punch (slightly round at the end is all I could find) and my cigar lighter, warmed the end of the punch up, and stuck the punch in the plastic whole, small sizzle and smoke, and after 2 minutes pulled that sucker out like a charm...Thank you! Now just waiting on the replacement coil to install to start my Echo PB 250 LN up again, and use a small screwdriver to adjust the carb.
Excellent! Glad you were able to pull that out of there...
Thanks for the video! My blower would start, but then bogged down and cut off. After I drilled out the black plastic nub, I turned the screw counterclockwise 1/2 to 1 revolution, and then it didn't choke down any more. Saved me from having to buy another blower. Thanks again.
Excellent! That's nice to hear.. :-)
Good idea on drilling out that little plug.
@@tommysmalls8634 Sorry for the late response, your comment didn't come until today.. Yes, thank you!
Man that’s awesome man, thanks for sharing. I’m trying on mine in the morning
I hope it works for ya!.. :-)
Thanks Rudi, this worked like magic!
Awesome! Glad I could help.. 😀. You're welcome...
Great Video !!! With Your help I fixed my pb Echo!! Thanks so much
Awesome! You’re welcome 😊
BRILLIANT. We have two of these in the family and both run too lean. They always start right up fine when it’s cold. BUTTT😡 then I have to play 1/4 choke games for 20 seconds to keep it running or it dies. Then it will finally run full throttle . Trouble is both of them are obviously not running anywhere near what should be full throttle ever. I can’t wait to give this a try. Thanks a million!!
Excellent! I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya... :-)
Worked perfectly. I can now resume being the mad blower!
I found a coarse screw turned into plastic cap worked as a puller, no problem.
I think the screw vibrates out of tune with use as I needed to re-adjust every few blows.
Yes that'll work great.. and you could be right about the vibration.. You could take that screw completely out and put a drop of lock tight on the threads, screw it back in and adjust it properly, then it should stay.. But then you'll have a hard time adjusting it again if atmospheric changes causes it to need adjusted again, so I don't really recommend it, but it's an idea.
Fixed it right up. Thanks!
Great! Glad I could help and you're welcome.. 😊😊
You just saved me a trip to the repair shop!
That's great! Glad it helped... :-)
@@JLPicard440 I have gone at least twice with the same issue and they gladly keep taking my money. Funny thing is that they have already removed the black security cap on the adjustment screw to simply do what you showed here.
Thanks again.
Nicely done, I could heart it four stroke when you throttled it up 👍
Thank u!
Very good filming technique and thanks for the info.
Excellent! You're welcome.. :-)
Big Time Thanks !!!
You saved me a lot of hassle.
Thank You so much.
You're welcome! Thank U... :-)
Worked perfect. Thanks.
Excellent! Glad it helped out... :-)
Realy well done video!
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much! Did a full tune up with the echo tune up kit (plug, Air Filter and Fuel Filter) as I have had this PB-250LN for quite some time and never did a thing. Had the same exact bog down issue when I tried to apply full throttle after I completed the tune up! Why did they cap that adjustment screw? BRUTAL! I didn't have a punch and also didn't want to go anywhere with this Covid-19 virus in air to get one. I dug the cap out with a pointed small screw driver. Made adjustment and I am back in business! Like many other posts -- you saved me from buying a new one! Oh, and that stupid black cap was discarded. Thanks again!
That's great! I'm glad you got it going... why'd they put the cap on? My theory is a lot of people would just throw it away and go buy a new one... but I'm sure they'd tell you it's in the name of a environmental issue..
Thank you this saved me buying a new blower!
You are welcome!
Fixed it perfect... thanks so much for your help.....
Great! You're welcome....:-)
Excellent video
Thank you very much!
Excellent video. Thanks

This right here 👏 perfect fix and worked exactly as you said it would you sir are a saint
Awesome! Glad I was able to help.. 😀
You’re a genius.
Thanks for the great comment!
I really appreciated the tip. I have a brand spanking new one I just got to replace the Hitachi someone pilfered, and while I still do not feel the same power even with this fix the difference is amazing. The only reason haven't returned the Echo is this coronavirus bull pucky has my state refusing to return merchandise. I was going to buy another one today when my Great Grandson said, I should look at some videos here for a solution. I never seen much use for these dam computers, and cell phones, think the whole thing is asinine, but you sure changed my thinking, if its good information then I guess it's a good thing. Take care. K.C. Buster
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience. ... :-)

You're welcome!
Worked for me! Thanks! I was wondering 'cause I have an Echo chainsaw that I did a similar fix to.
Awesome! So glad I could help.... 😀
Wow! I found a blower on the side of the road and did this and cleaned the rusty carb and it runs like a gem
Nice work! I love those trash finds!... :-)
Thank you so much.. it worked my Echo too!
Awesome 😎 You’re welcome
Thanks a lot Sir, this definitely works!!
Great to hear! Excellent.. :-)
