I was born in 80 and grew up watching MJ. The CZcams channel Joseph Vincent just released a 2hr long video spanning Jordans career. I figured I'd give it a watch to refresh my memory on how good Jordan was or if it was just nostalgia being a kid/teenager making him larger than life. The astounding thing after watching it was that he was actually better than I could remember. It's as if God molded the perfect basketball player. Not only was his physical gifts a cut above everyone else, insane 40+ vertical, hands larger than most 7 footers where he could snatch the ball out of thin air with one hand, break ankles by just palming the ball around faking people out. Running a 4.3 40 in college. All those physical gifts combined with a mental drive to win like no other. Absolute clutch shooter. A picture perfect midrange jumper. His other worldly hype was completely justified.
Anyone trying to compare guys like Lebron to MJ are insane. Jordan was poetry in motion that could slice and dice his way to the rim like an agile cat. It's the media manufacturing another basketball savior to generate revenue who try to put guys like Lebron in the same echelon as Michael Jordan. There is only one MJ. There will never be another like him.

The majority of the former players and current players agree on Jordan's being the goat. Knight's experience with Jordan on the Olympic team was what I suspect he expected before hand after having seen him perform on the college stage and in fact defeating him in '84 in the NCAA tournament on his way to his third NCAA title. He was somewhat close to Dean Smith in the coaching fraternity always expressing great respect for Smith, so knowing what a meticulous teacher of basketball Smith was Knight had to know Jordan would be well prepared for international competition. Jordan himself has credited Smith's coaching as the catalyst to making him the great player he became. Smith by the way beat the legendary Adolf Rupp like a drum in head to head games eventually surpassing Rupp's 876 wins ending with 879. Smith was a liberal icon in this very conservative southern state. But you can be damn sure that Dean Smith was a god down here and always will be. In my part of the state we're all Tar Heels. Russell is the most valuable; he won more titles and was a force in the league for a long time, and he tamed Wilt Chamberlin. And Red Auerbach was a wizard as a coach and GM; built some of the best teams ever. Good to see Bobby Knight in a calm and sane moment, he does know his stuff.

Knight must regret not paying paying closer attention to the needs of Bird. If he had he might have won a couple national titles. Wow!

I think Jordan had the edge defensively, he had the edge in the clutch when the game is on the line and he had the edge when it comes to gracefulness. LeBron overpowers opponents. Michael could do that but he also was graceful. He turned the game into an art form. He could float through the air with such amazing control. I miss watching him play. He is the reason I fell in love with basketball.

You can see what's happening now that LeBron has lost some of his physicality an cannot get to the rim as frequently as
before. Bron never really improved his perimeter game. And that is coming back to bite him in the butt now against younger
teams, in an NBA that prioritizes perimeter shooting.
