Hey brother teamster Mike!
Looking forward to visiting the PI soon. I was born in Leyte & came to the US when I was 7. My husband and I are considering retiring there, but going to visit first, of course. As far as cost on food. I make my own yogurt, bread, grow and can our veggies etc. so it will definitely cut cost on food.
If and when we retire we are definitely considering renting in Cebu City so my wife can be close to her mother. Maybe after some time we might consider moving somewhere else, am not sure. Thanks for explaining the differences in Cebu City and Dumaguete. It does suck that there are no good beaches near Cebu City (except Macan Island, but the traffic) so it would be nicer to be closer to some nice beaches as long as there was good medical care nearby.
