    Great lesson! I was taught this song years ago by a sax player and had forgotten how to play it. Lots of bad or inaccurate lessons on this out there. Yours was spot-on! Well done and thanks!

    Great lesson and advice. I remember learning this song in E when I was a youngster. It's much easier for smaller hands to manage. Muscle-memory is making it harder to re-learn in F but no capo for me. :^)

Luv the bit of raunch you got into it w/ your Strat! Thx much for putting this up on YT. grew up in the '50's & this song has always been a classic...

    Hey man I enjoyed this. The hardest part for me is the tremolo picking section, but aside from that, one thing I would appreciate your view on is this: the sixths lick at 1:22, I wonder if Billy Butler played it on strings 1 & 2 rather than 1 & 3. Then the following slide down for the lick over the 1 chord can all be played more easily, and with the same shape. Whaddya think?

    • @JakeAndrewsMusic
      @JakeAndrewsMusic  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hi Ted, yes, I have played it both ways-I used to play it only on strings 1 and 2. I taught it this way as it's probably an "easier" position to play it in at first. But I agree, it has more of the feel on those strings. Thanks so much for commenting!

  • @musicproductionvideos5019

    What are you playing though? Nice and barky clean with grit! Thanks (EDIT).. ok you said a Marshall 68 50W below I see. But still... why is your tone so unique here? There is something so authentic and not heard by myself very often

    • @JakeAndrewsMusic
      @JakeAndrewsMusic  Před rokem

      It's actually straight into a 1959 Fender Princeton tube amp! That's the secret:)

    Hey Jake, an absolutely brilliant cover of one of the greatest instrumentals of all time. You've captured Billy Butlers guitar playing and tone to the tee. Kudos!👍👍 Is there anyway to get access to the backing track for playing along? Cheers!

    • @JakeAndrewsMusic
      @JakeAndrewsMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Chris! I'm using this same 1960 Strat on most of the album as well as a '59 Gibson 335 and a 1950 Broadcaster as well:) As far as amps-we looped together as many vintage amps as we possibly could! Numerous vintage Fender Tweeds (Bassman, Temolux, Princeton and Champs), some blackface Supers and Deluxe Reverb, and a '69 Marshall Super Lead as well. Using a late 70's Tube Screamer also.

    Swell. Just please lose
    giant distortions as
    that entirely ruined
    this presentation !
    A lesson to learn
    and follow ... when
    recording any song,
    distortions are far
    too enhanced /
    multiplied by the
    recording process
    electronics limitations.
