I prefer our shops to close early. We need a work life balance. People here work to live, not live to work. It’s why Australians have a good overall life satisfaction and its one of the happiest places in the world.

Wages are much higher in Australia with penalty rates 50% to 100% more. That relates to shopping hours especially in winter when not many are out for shopping.

Smoking is not common in most areas. It is socioecominic based and if the CBD office workers have to smoke outside. Over 90% don’t smoke. Most are more health conscious.

Yeah I can relate to the Sydney smoking comments. I’ve lived in around Brisbane all my life except when I lived in Sydney in 96&97 .That’s one of the first things I noticed when I started living there, that many more people smoked,it almost seemed like everyone smoked. Even though it’s been over two decades since I lived there, I still remember the feelings of amazement and curiosity as to why there was such a difference in the amount of people that smoked in neighbouring capital cities . I’m kinda surprised to hear that it still might be like that in Sydney, I actually can’t remember when I last smelled cigarette smoke walking around in public up here…… but that could be because we’re Queenslanders and we’ve always been a bit brighter than those that live in Sydney! 🤭😬😁

really ? the news says different lol . you have to remember us ppl who had tv for the past 70 years england australia america . had cigarettes forced down our throats . they advertised them to sound good . ie : taste the freshness of mulbro .. anyhow have a Winfield . mulbro country . then when they got everyone hooked . they started punishing ppl for smoking . so you can thenk the government and advertising for ppl smoking ..

Sydney is not the rest of Australia.Sydney is where the emigrants step off the ship, walk down the pier and don't venture any further.
